ok so far this to me has been the best DLC they have dropped. kasumi was cool but short...im not saying overlord wasnt short....cause even on insanity it was but it was great. i loved the new music and the hammerhead parts although frustrating were pretty cool especially the scenery. the atmosphere was eerie which i loved lots of blood and dead bodies around...and the creepy cameras...which i shot all of them out.....dont like being watched...even liked the nice back hand with a pistol paragon move there at the end..cant wait for the next DLC.

edit:  oh yeah....FEM SHEP FTW!!!!!

Anyone know whats coming next after this one? Link plz

I read somewhere that ehey are planning a number of story DLC episodes to link the stories of ME2 and ME3. They also want to continue releasing smaller packs (like equalizer, etc).

Concerning the VO discussion. I have to agree that the VO for squatmates should be in DLCs. It's one of the main problems I have with DLC in general. Because of the limited scope of the content VOs and other details are often excluded which devreses the overall quality. I think if that kind of content is to be produced on a regular basis, some more planning should go into it (e.g. to combine VO sessions of several DLCs so that you only have  to have the voice actor once, etc. That way, still, smaller packages would be released but the production project would of larger scale, allowing for more room for deail, etc. I hope they considder that if they want to make episodes nect.

Done 2 stations so far, I like it alot. The combat is great, using parts of the environment to advance is a nice touch. The environments are beautiful, and wait...a shifty cow? How'd those get there? Too bad you can't exit the vehicle to see if they're the same little pickpockets they were before. Hehe. Overall I'm liking it so far.

I thought this DLC was the best one done so far. The only other DLC that drew motion like this was Bring Down the Sky back in ME1. The environments were great, the combat was fun, and even though the squad mates couldn't speak I liked the smaller scenes with them which was a nice touch. Overall, my favorite part was later in the mission when Shepard is directly affected by the mission at hand. This was the element that was largely missing from the rest of the game. I was also touched by the amount of emotion at the end.

best DLC so far! pretty hard playing as an adept my first time through without knowing where the enemy would pop up and biotics are not so effective against synthetics! still way fun looking forward to play through it again as an engineer

Would everyone agree to let BioWare / EA contact major corporations about co-production advertising? what's so bad about a space age advertisement billboard on one of the space stations for Coca-Cola® and others if it leads to more content for less money on the part of the end user?

Major motion studios already use passive advertisement in movies to fund production costs. Ever see a name brand being mentioned or displayed during the movie? I think I've seen characters eating taco bell. :wizard:

Overall I'm conflicted about this DLC. The good parts are very good - the terrain is absolutely gorgeous (possible the most beautiful ME world yet), the atmosphere is great, and the combat is fun.

However, not having squad mates comment is inexcusable IMO. While the animations guys made a valiant effort to give them screen time, no squad VO just makes this whole mission feel weird.

The other problem is that the ending is too over the top. No matter what route you go, Shepard looks like he's about to cry. My Shep is a cool customer, he takes things like this in stride and keeps going. Having him all of a sudden get melodramatic even with the renegade choices is not very good design IMO. You should never force emotion on a player like that.

Come on, everyone normally complain how Shepard has no emotion and now that he does in this dlc you think Bioware shouldnt do it? I like the fact they are actually trying to make Shepard act more human.

I like the fact they gave shepard more emtion as well more games do need this human element to them it puts more into the game rather than just picking up a controler playing thorugh and not feeling anything.

Sure, emotional outrage should be an option, but it shouldn't be forced on you regardless of what you choose. It might make sense with the paragon path (although wtf is punching someone a paragon interrupt I'll never understand), but not with the renegade. The renegade dialogue should've been "Good idea, better luck next time". Considering that Shep has seen and done far worse things than this, it's a weird issue for him to get all teary eyed over.

Very well polished and runs smoothly but not much to it beyond that....the story is interesting with a cool little twist but the lack of companion reaction....not even from Legion....is very disappointing and the rewards are miserable....small and insignificant amounts of money and minerals combined with a complete lack of new equipment makes this DLC a disappointment....all you really get out of it is a Skin Wave research upgrade that you don't really need anyway.

Sorry, but I don't want to pay for a game or DLC that contains advertising.  Really you are paying for their advertisements, if you think about it.

Enjoyable, short, but for just over £3, it can't be considered bad value. Loved the new combat music, also loved the creepy atmosphere (I was another one that had to shoot the cameras).

Again as most of the people on this thread, companions being that quiet, just doesn't make sense. Logistically it must be a nightmare to try and get new VO for it, but with a fully voiced game, you do miss it when it is not there.

If this DLC hadn't been the equivalent of 7 dollars, and maybe closer to 4 or 5 dollars, it would have been super awesome. Now it's just regular awesome.

If this is a test case for either future DLC or ME3, then you guys are on the right track. I'd prefer longer DLC, honestly. I hope all these little DLC packs are just to keep us distracted while you plug away on something bigger. Liiiiike, the rumored Redemption DLC. Because there are still a few of us holding out hope for that.

The hub area was gorgeous, by the way. Besides the fear of occasionally dropping off a cliff by accident, it was really nice to cruise around in.

BTW, if you drop off a cliff, you don't get "critical mission failure", Hammerhead just mumbles something and brings you back. That was great, now if it only had some decent shields..

Really? I was always afraid of dying because you couldn't save while you were in there. That would have been good to know XD

Overlord contains one of the most emotional moments of the whole game. Good add-on IMO.

2 things:

1.) Thanks for the info....Now I know for certain I wont be buying it :)
2.) In response to the person I have quoted:  Considering that there are no true "emotional moments" in the game to begin with, this isnt a "good" selling point for the DLC.  Of course, that's just MY opinion.  I was more emotionally moved by Heavy Rain than I have been at any point in Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2.

Dont get me wrong, I love the franchise so far...But as far as "emotional" moments in a game are concerned, this series has none that have illicited ANY kind of emotional response from me other than "Hmmm Interesting..." lol.  Oh, and the occasional laughing at the witty one liners....Aradace loves witty one liners...Image IPB

Congrats on being heartless, I guess?  Are you trying to impress us with how hard you are or something? lol

Anyway I popped into this thread to thank Bioware for this. This was AMAZING, and what DLC should aspire to be! Good job, I'd love to see more content like this. <3

wow... in one word, great;

that ending, wow, that was... emotional? I think that the right word. I almost shed a tear, not quite, but almost... hmm, almost/if not more so than the Tali loyalty mission.

This is how the ME2 side quests SHOULD have been, instead of the usual: "Go over there and talk to ...", apart from the loyalties and acquisition quests, everything else is pale in comparison, I wish they'd made the game bigger -- like this DLC.

Also: does anyone else see a connection between this DLC and Mass Effect: Retribution... similar story but on a larger scale?

Yes, because BioWare makes no money off these DLCs right?

Sometimes people do sound way too whiney, but sometimes people can't (or wont) see the difference between constructive criticism and complaining.

It's hard to respond without getting into details that should be restricted to the spoiler forum, so I'll have to just say that I have been surprised at the depth of emotion evoked at a couple of points in ME1 and 2.

The 'background mission' in ME1 for Colonist was very moving, and I was astonished I was actually choking up while simultaneously marveling that a VIDEO GAME was creating that reaction.

I was also impressed how some minor characters in ME1 were referenced on Illium.

Obvously, YMMV.  A lot of my reactions were essentially, "Oh, hey!  THAT'S VERY COOL."  (But I do count the rush of excitement at each of those moments as 'emotional reactions'.)

P.S.  Oh, include my utter contempt of TIM's rather blase' reaction to the actions of the Overlord project in that mix.
