Overall I'm conflicted about this DLC. The good parts are very good - the terrain is absolutely gorgeous (possible the most beautiful ME world yet), the atmosphere is great, and the combat is fun.
However, not having squad mates comment is inexcusable IMO. While the animations guys made a valiant effort to give them screen time, no squad VO just makes this whole mission feel weird.
The other problem is that the ending is too over the top. No matter what route you go, Shepard looks like he's about to cry. My Shep is a cool customer, he takes things like this in stride and keeps going. Having him all of a sudden get melodramatic even with the renegade choices is not very good design IMO. You should never force emotion on a player like that.
Come on, everyone normally complain how Shepard has no emotion and now that he does in this dlc you think Bioware shouldnt do it? I like the fact they are actually trying to make Shepard act more human.
I like the fact they gave shepard more emtion as well more games do need this human element to them it puts more into the game rather than just picking up a controler playing thorugh and not feeling anything.

Would everyone agree to let BioWare / EA contact major corporations about co-production advertising? what's so bad about a space age advertisement billboard on one of the space stations for Coca-Cola® and others if it leads to more content for less money on the part of the end user?
Major motion studios already use passive advertisement in movies to fund production costs. Ever see a name brand being mentioned or displayed during the movie? I think I've seen characters eating taco bell.

If this DLC hadn't been the equivalent of 7 dollars, and maybe closer to 4 or 5 dollars, it would have been super awesome. Now it's just regular awesome.
If this is a test case for either future DLC or ME3, then you guys are on the right track. I'd prefer longer DLC, honestly. I hope all these little DLC packs are just to keep us distracted while you plug away on something bigger. Liiiiike, the rumored Redemption DLC. Because there are still a few of us holding out hope for that.
The hub area was gorgeous, by the way. Besides the fear of occasionally dropping off a cliff by accident, it was really nice to cruise around in.

Really? I was always afraid of dying because you couldn't save while you were in there. That would have been good to know XDmashavasilec wrote...
BTW, if you drop off a cliff, you don't get "critical mission failure", Hummerhead just mumbles something and brings you back. That was great, now if it only had some decent shields..

Overlord contains one of the most emotional moments of the whole game. Good add-on IMO.

2 things:
1.) Thanks for the info....Now I know for certain I wont be buying it
2.) In response to the person I have quoted: Considering that there are no true "emotional moments" in the game to begin with, this isnt a "good" selling point for the DLC. Of course, that's just MY opinion. I was more emotionally moved by Heavy Rain than I have been at any point in Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2.
Dont get me wrong, I love the franchise so far...But as far as "emotional" moments in a game are concerned, this series has none that have illicited ANY kind of emotional response from me other than "Hmmm Interesting..." lol. Oh, and the occasional laughing at the witty one liners....Aradace loves witty one liners...

Very well polished and runs smoothly but not much to it beyond that....the story is interesting with a cool little twist but the lack of companion reaction....not even from Legion....is very disappointing and the rewards are miserable....small and insignificant amounts of money and minerals combined with a complete lack of new equipment makes this DLC a disappointment....all you really get out of it is a Skin Wave research upgrade that you don't really need anyway.

see what i mean too many pessimists i think once the game is beat the morons who whine about the dlcs should just stop playing since no matter what they cant seem too be happy that bioware actually cares enough too develope these dlcs for us.
It's hard to respond without getting into details that should be restricted to the spoiler forum, so I'll have to just say that I have been surprised at the depth of emotion evoked at a couple of points in ME1 and 2.Aradace wrote...
