Best bonus talent for an Infiltrator?

I searched the forums and didn't find anything recent on this. I'm sorry if this is a redundant topic.
I've been a big fan of the Infiltrator class since the first Mass Effect and loved it even more in the second, but the bonus talent for a Mass Effect 2 Infiltrator seems to be a really hard decision for me to make. I'd rather not use Warp Ammo or Reave, because I'm one of those people who roleplays pretty hard and would rather not use a biotic talent on a character who isn't already a biotic, but my choices other than that are both vast and miniscule at the same time, it seems.
Currently, I'm leaning toward Armor-Piercing Ammo, but I'm not sure if that would be overkill for a class that already deals with armor quite well. Geth Shield Boost would clash too much with Tactical Cloak, and other powers like Inferno Grenade or Energy Drain would just be overkill, I think.
Biotic bonus talents aside, would it be best to use Armor-Piercing Ammo and bring along squad mates to help me deal with any barrier-sporting enemies that cross my path? Between Miranda, Thane, Samara, Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed, I'm certainly not wanting for anti-barrier measures, and I can't think of anything else that would really fit. Any input on my incoherent rambling would be greatly appreciated.

You really don't need one, but you can't go wrong with AP ammo. If you prefer to one-shot enemies, remember that the ammo power won't provide any bonus unless the shot hits the protection type the power is good for, regardless of whether the damage exceeds the protection or not. Shooting a shielded organic with mantis and AP ammo isn't going to do any extra damage to health. That's why disruptor ammo is your friend if you want to one-shot mercs. For mechs, AP ammo is great.

Barriered enemies are relatively rare, and most of them are after the collector ship pickup anyway, by which time you'll have the widow if you pick it up. With squadmates' powers you'll do fine.

Usually I just keep what ever bonus power I take at level 1, then respec after horizon to have all points in non-bonus powers.

I personally never found a good use for AP ammo as an Infiltrator because Incinerate worked just as well against armored foes. For shields, there's always disruptor ammo. Barriers will always be the Infiltrators weakest point unless you pick up a biotic power, but I'm the same way in not wanting to use biotic powers for a nonbiotic class.

Energy Drain is, perhaps, overpowered. However, since the Infiltrator has Incinerate for armor, I found it was nice to have something that worked against shields as well. The boost to shields each time I used it even saved my life a few times.

If you have Kasumi, I think her Flashbang grenade suits an Infiltrator quite well. It's good for knocking enemies out of cover. The trick is learning how to aim it properly.

I went AP on most of my Infils, but lately I have been finding Geth Shield Boost very handy. It doesn't interfere with Cloak other than the delay, but consider....Can be spec'd to boost damage, and also allows a quick boost to shields so you don't die as often, which if you consider, shields don't regen in cloak makes it handy, plus the time of effect is 60+ seconds. If you go AP, you can also respec to Warp on the critical missions if you feel it would help, but AP has always worked well, but I would try a Geth Shield the next time I play infil, can always respec back to something else.

I appreciate the input. I'm probably going to stick to Armor-Piercing Ammo, mostly because I prefer focusing on weapons as much as I can when I play Infiltrator, as opposed to powers, which are the focal point of other classes I play(Engineer and Sentinel).

IMO the best Infiltrator bonus power is 1pt Neural Shock, or no bonus at all. There's no bonus power that's worth losing Squad Cryo, so a bonus power has to take its points from Disruptor Ammo or Incinerate/Hack.

eg:

6 Disruptor Ammo

10 Squad Cryo Ammo

10 Assassin Cloak

10 Heavy Incinerate

3 AI Hacking

10 Agent

1 Neural Shock

10 Heavy Disruptor Ammo

10 Squad Cryo Ammo

10 Assassin Cloak

10 Area Incinerate

1 AI Hacking

10 Assassin

But failing that, I'd take Energy Drain, Flashbang, Reave, Dominate, or Warp Ammo. In that order.

Is Squad Cryo Ammo that good? I've never really looked twice at it.

Squad Cryo Ammo is very good. There's nothing quite like seeing all your enemies turn to ice around you. And shattering.

It's not the end-all of ammo powers, but I always go for it.

I'll give it a shot. I really should have a long time ago, considering how I swear by Snowblind Ammo in the first game. Might as well use an ammo type that's really good in both games. It's sound from both a gameplay and a roleplay perspective.

It also good to keep cryo ammo on your SMG as an Infiltrator. Good for cloak flanking with the Tempest and unloading on an enemy close range, as Gatsby did in the vid he posted in the CQC Infiltrator thread.

If you don't want Warp Ammo, then AP Ammo is probably your best bet. Energy Drain is nuts too.

To be honest, at point-blank and cloaked the Tempest kills them a split-second after they freeze anyway :)
I prefer putting cryo on the slower firing weapons, like shotgun/pistol. With the Evi they freeze while they're stunned and you're getting ready for a second shot/melee.

As has been mentioned you can definitely get by with only Infiltrator powers. Barriers are few and far between and don't last too long under SMG fire. Everything else is covered.

AP ammo is great, but if I take it I usually take points out of Incinerate and just use weapons for dropping Armour.

Area Drain's great for dropping shields/mechs, following up with Cryo or Hack. I take points out of Disruptor in this case.

Anything else is fun, but best? No such thing.

My 2 cents on squad cryo. It is great for deal with swarms of husks. Why? cause it's basically one shot one kill. Husk freezes when shot but still tries to keep moving and shatters itself. Works every time. Also as Pacifien mentioned its cool (no pun intended) to see your enemies turn to ice around you. Though they won't always shatter the way the husks will.

Starting a new game, AP is great.
Only 1 skill point gives you 30% damage bonus against armor and health. Recruiting Mordin gets a lot easier

I went with Warp ammo and nary had an issue. Never really ever use cryo except for the one or two times I have Mordin with me and it's his power I'm casting.

I prefer AP ammo on my infiltrator. I absoultely despise it when I get a headshot and an enemy doesnt drop. So, I use AP ammo for any armor heavy missions, Disruptor ammo for shield heavy missions, and Jack's squad warp ammo for when I encounter barriers. I would take warp ammo myself, but I don't like doing so due to a roleplaying prespective.

There isn't best power, there is only power what fits your playing style. It doesn't much matter what you take, infiltrator works fine even without one. I my self did go defensive power.

I've always liked the energy drain power, it feels like it meshes with the class very well.
