Do people even know about Morrigan? She hardly hung around for the celebration. And if, say, Leliana came back with a kid one day does that mean everyone's going to assume it was Alistair's? Why would they? It could be Zevran's. Or who is to say it was even conceived on the journey or if it was that it wasn't just a ONS? And if the mother is a mage then the baby will probably be one as well (especially if Morrigan has her way with the ritual) so it couldn't become the new heir. And if she's in Orlais...no, people would never accept it.Well, yes...as I said, it would require a powerful family (like the Couslands) to back him, but I don't find it that hard to imagine it happening during a succession crisis. Or--here's an interesting spin for a DA2 plot--the Empress of Orlais. After all, Morrigan is supposed to be in her court. Once one of the Hero of Ferelden's companions shows up with a child in tow, don't you think people will be curious who the father was? Especially given that Alistair was the only human male companion? I don't think it's hard to imagine rumors starting.

Why would Morrigan be interested in something so trivial as the Ferelden throne? And she couldn't honestly believe that the PC who put Alistair on the throne would help remove him or that she could ever rule. Her child is a bastard so unless Alistair acknowledges it it would have no claim and if it's a mage it can't be ruler anyway.
Honestly, I think Morrigan has grander ambitions than just the throne seeing she doesn't care if Alistair is king, if Loghain does it, or if you do it (although in some cases she'd prefer it to be you).
While I think Morrigan's plans likely involve something far bigger than just the throne of Ferelden, she does have a thing for power. Its telling that if you don't do the ritual, in the epilogue she is rumored to have insinuated herself into the court of the Empress of Orlais. Or if you're a Cousland and romancing Morrigan, she has no problem at all with you marrying Anora.
What I'm wondering is whther Morrigan desires power for it own sake or if, to her, power is simply a means to an end?
My theory is that power = safety for Morrigan.

No doubt power=safety. But at least with having a Old God Baby, if news gets out, power could also mean a whole lot of attention, some of it unwanted. And the other thing is that I have a hard time believing Morrigan is just going to have the OGB and sit around in some shack in the woods being all safe and powerful. She tries to be pragmatic above all else, so surely she has some kind of goal or plan with the OGB in mind, beyond just her vague notion of it being a "symbol of freedom"?

All Morrigan wants is a hot bath, a cup of cocoa, and a manicure. Maybe a massage while she chats with Lel about shoes. All of that posturing and come-here-go-away is just nerves. Give her a day in a spa and she'll be fine.

Like you, I'm sure there's a plan...we just aren't privvy to it yet. Maybe we'll get to find out in DA:O2.

Indeed, and a few months down the road I sudenly sense her sorrow and regret through a magical ring she gave me.
She knew well enough that we're connected through that thing, but instead of masking her feelings or even disabling the ring so I couldn't find her, she does what?
Let's me know she regrets leaving me behind.
Even had I come to terms with the fact that she left, after feeling such emotions what person wouldn't embark on a search to find her?

People can end relationships and still someties regret their end without making the reasons for ending them any less valid. Just because she might wish things were different doesn't mean she changed her mind. I mean, in many cases she knows where you are and yet she doesn't go seek you out.Master Shiori wrote...

You're missing my point.
Ofc, she would eventually come to terms with her decision to leave. What I find curious is that she would not break the link that exists between her and the Warden and would actually allow him to feel her sorrow and regret.
If she is determined that their relationship needs to end why not sever all ties and move on? Why give the Warden cause to actually come after her and not let him forget about the whole thing and move on?
The way that epilogue was written it makes me believe that even though Morrigan told the Warden never to follow after her, some part of her actually desires that very thing.

Yes, some part of her might. Of course, most of her will be pissed and nothing good will come of it. I can really only jutify chasing after her because of the child if it's yours. It's like with the Alistair romance. If you make him King and he's unhardened then if he's not engaged to you then he will end it. Will he regret it? Of course. Does that mean he'll appreciate your attempts to get back with him? Hardly. The reason for the breakup is still there.
That's true.
I don't expect a happy reunion with both of us falling into each others arms or anything, but I doubt it would end up in violence either.
This is all wishfull thinking anyway, since we have no idea where Bioware is going with Morrigan and her story.

The game gives you a choice to do it and some people took it. The least you can do is this case is respect the desicion of the people who do have a reason to follow her, for whatever roleplaying reason they have in their mind.
Alistair insists that he doesn't want to be king but most people go ahead and make him king anyway(I don't have any numbers to prove it but he's really popular so, whatever).
Sten wants to rot in his cage and Wynne wants you to bend over and let everyone butt rape you because you are a Grey Warden. And Morrigan doesn't want you to follow because
Saying that a decision is "wrong" because you have a different roleplaying perpective is, well, wrong.

Now that you mention that.... 90% of things you do in game (especially when Morrigan approves them) are 100% unwise, crazy, stupid or worse.blademaster7 wrote...

If you think about it, Morrigan's words can be interpreted as "please follow me", considering the fact that she knows PC, who preserved Anvil and defiled Ashes and stuff because he wanted to do so. And at the same time she doesn't look like someone who asks. Remember her dialogue with the dog? She's being manipulative - again.
"Please, don't pull this big red lever - it will unleash diabolic forces of unprecedented awesomeness. To pull it will be a very unwise decision... Oh, why did you pull it? I told you not to... Well, now it's you to blame and must help me. Yes, I wanted to pull it anyway, but who asked you to do it?"
Kinda old story.

The PC doesn't have to take that route. Are you saying she only wants that kind of character following her?If you think about it, Morrigan's words can be interpreted as "please follow me", considering the fact that she knows PC, who preserved Anvil and defiled Ashes and stuff because he wanted to do so.

For DR she needed only to have sex with PC. Easy, especially if they're in love and she's been refusing to lay with him for quite a while. But not only she told PC that it's a ritual, but also explained that essence of Old God will be transfered into the baby AND asked PC not to follow her.
Wow. Just wow. It reminds me of a vampire castle in Terry Pratchett's "Capre Jugulum" - vampire had signs all around saying "There's a castle half a mile this way do NOT come close to it it's very, very dangerous" and "This is your last chance don't come closer there's a castle with vampires other where".
And by the evening all rooms were full and guests were still banging on the doors.
So you see, Morrigan put a lot of warning signs. In case you're not interested. She revealed:
1) This time sex will 100% result in a child.
2) Child will have an Old God's soul.
3) You're not allowed to know what will become of child.
4) In case if you still don't get it castle is 100 yards down the road, don't come closer, vampires will eat you. Vacant rooms available.

So what we want isn't really relevant here. As long as you've romanced her in Origins you're bound to go after her, whether you like it or not.
