I've Googled around for answers to this, and found others with the same problems but no answers. Here's the scoop: I recently sent my Xbox 360 in for repair/warranty - had the E74 red ring, and as is usual, MS sent me back a new/refurbed console. Bonus is that the new one has a Jasper board, and replaced my old Pro that died with the Falcon. Anyhew, kept my HDD of course, and MS supposedly took care of swapping my registration with the new unit. While I was waiting for it to be returned, I picked up a new 250GB HDD, and as soon as the new unit came back, I loaded up the transfer kit and loaed up the new HDD. All my saves and gamertag were all set. Reinitiated all my download history and all that. Everything was running smoothly, including ME1 with both DLCs. I installed ME1 onto the HDD for smooth gameplay.

The other day I unplugged the ethernet from my Xbox (had to use it for something on another compooper) and tried to continue a career I was working on in ME1. Lo and behold I get an error when hitting start at the first ME1 menu: "Error: One or more Downloadable Content files could not be accessed. Please try deleting the file(s) and downloading again. The file(s) in question are: Bring Down the Sky [ENPLES] Pinnacle Station [ENPLES]"

Hmmm, strange. I hit A for okay, and it goes to the next menu screen anyway. I hit Resume, and get yet another message: "Selected Save Game could not be loaded. Downloadable Content missing from Xbox. Module(s) in question: Bring Down the Sky [ENPLES] Pinnacle Station [ENPLES]". A for okay again, but I'm still at the same menu screen. Hit Resume once more, same thing. A little while later, I plugged the ethernet back in, loaded ME1, verything opened up an played just fine. Okay, obviously the errors must have something to do with not being signed into XBL, so I took it offline again to see if the errors came up. Yup. I followed the directions in the error message by uninstalling both DLCs fully, then reinstalling them. Went offline to check if that worked. Same error messages, back again!

Here's the triple whammy - I even tried to uninstall the DLC, and just play the game (offline) WITHOUT the DLCs installed. SAME ERROR!

The only thing I can think of is that the DLCs are somehow intimately tied to both my XBL account as well as the reg of the original console I had downloaded them on - ? It's just plain weird that I still get the error message with the DLCs uinstalled though. I had played ME1 offline on the original console (with both DLCs installed) numerous times just fine and dandy.

Anyone else have this issue and actually resolve it? I'd like to be able to play my games offline if necessary. Hoping someone can save me the trouble of life wasted away with a phone call to Xbox support :pinched:

I wonder if they actual got your DLC or left you to do it yourself. If the latter, this is what you want.

Alternately, if the licenses were transferred, then doing as it suggests and re-downloading the DLCs will probably fix it.

The saves are refusing to load even after you uninstall because they have data in them relating to the DLCs. That's a potential downside to ME DLCs, your save games using them become dependent on them to load.

That makes sense that the save won't load b/c it has DLC data attached to it, even if it was a new-ish game.

But yeah, I already tried to uninstall and reinstall the DLC to no avail.

Perhaps I'll try the manual license transfer, but maybe I should ask xbox customer support first in case it causes some problems by doing it again after they supposedly already did it. But, the license transfer page does say "...if you received your new Xbox 360 as the result of a refurbishment or repair, the licenses have already been transferred as part of the repair process. You probably do not need to use the license transfer tool" - emphasis on the "probably".

Thanks for the input Kloreep

Yup, manual license migration seems to do the trick. When I started to use the tool, it showed that all but one of my licenses were still registered to my old console. WTF MS? Now I feel like a dunce since it was so simple, even though I was misled. I shouldn't speak too soon though since I haven't actually tried the situation described in the OP again, but I'm pretty darn sure it should work now.

Question: What if you own two X-Boxes and want to play on both? Hubby and I both play so we have two in different rooms of the house. Because keeping our profiles on memory sticks started causing some funky problems, we stopped doing that and just keep recovering them from X-Box Live. Unfortunately, we keep having trouble with the downloads.

Right now I can't play ME1 on one of them because of Bring Down the Sky, although it's been downloaded on both, and he can't play ME2 on the other because of the Cerberus network stuff, although I've downloaded it on both.

Is there a way to do use two consoles without paying for everything twice? It seems ridiculous that hubby can't use my Cerberus network just because it was registered under my profile. It's the same freakin' machine! It's become increasingly annoying because when there's a new dlc it usually works fine on both for a few days and THEN refuses to let one of us load a save.

legbamel: This might help you understand how the whole licensing thing works: http://blogs.msdn.co.../10/694758.aspx

And no, there really isn't a perfect way to use 2 consoles. The best way, after thinking about it for a few minutes, would be to have all the DLC/game content licensed to one gamertag on one of the Xboxes, let's say gamertag #1 on Xbox #1, and have gamertag #2 play on Xbox #1 (any gamertag on Xbox #1 can use any content licensed to that Xbox), while gamertag #1 plays on Xbox #2 while connected to Live (thus allowing gt#2 to access its licenses and play the games on the non-licensed Xbox #2).
