First computer in '83 was this, the Sinclair QL http://farm2.static....39ecb6975_o.jpg yeah the micro cartridges were about an inch or two square, system was very much a home office system, almost nothing in the way of games.

First console was my favourite, the Game Gear http://farm4.static....c94978fcc_o.jpg ah, happy memories, I had tons of games for this system, personally I thought it kicked the Game Boys arse since it had a colour screen decent sound, and I could watch analogue TV on there as well, battery life wasn't great but it was ten years ahead of what Nintendo had to offer.

Well actually my very first computer game was Duke Nukem 3D, when I was 3. Diablo and Warcraft came after.

Oh, Duke Nukem, what a nice game it was. Killing... space pigs... destroying... things... yes, very nice :P

I missed out on playing Duke Nukem, and those sorts of games like Serious Sam and Quake and Half-Life (orignial).

Of course the Game Gear was better than the Game Boy. People say the Gameboy's biggest problem was the lack of color. I dissagree, it's biggest problem was the lack of a back lite. I hated how I was playing Link's Awakening during a road trip and then had to turn it off because it got dark. LAME!

The best portable system during the early 90's though was the Turbo Express. It was basically a portable turbo graphix-16. I owned one.

I still own a Sega Nomad. Lots of fun. I love the confused looks kids give me on the plane when they're playing on their DS and PSPs and I grab out this huge portable genesis.

I kept getting migranes from the early shooters, until they actually had 3D graphics anyway.

No.
In Japan they did release a "Game Boy Light" which was a black and white game boy that did have a back lit screen but they didn't release it in the USA for some stupid reason.

Even the original Game Boy Advance didn't have a back light.  Very stupid.

Color was never really a huge issue for me.  Really, you get used to the black and white eventually.  Not having light though makes it difficult to play in many circumstances.

Sega Master System Posted Image and/or Nintendo NES. Master System broke really soon and we sold the NES. System I have had for the longest is the SNES since 1991. Still works but it yellow.

First Computer was a Gateway built Windows 95 Computer that I got in 1998, long since gone.

My first console was an Atari 7800. I have a slew of 2600 games for it too. Yup, it was backwards compatible. I had a choice between it and an NES, but I didn't regret it because one of my sisters eventually got an NES anyway. I have fond memories of playing Pole Position, Desert Eagle, Karateka, and Ballblazer on it. The latter in particular was an amazing game for its time. Had some great versus matches on that game. Plus the awesome bleepbloop theme music It's currently sitting in storage at a friend's house. I loaned it to him a few months before both of us moved and never got it back. We're still close though, so someday I plan to collect my aged console.

My first computer was an IBM... something... purchased in 1995. Sort of. It was technically a shared computer. My first game was Mechwarrior 2. Sometime after that I got Diablo and the Duke Nukem Kill-a-Ton collection.

So where can I pick up DukeNukem or Serious Sam aside from Steam?

Oh in that damned movie Avatar, the military col. reminds me soooo much of Duke Nukem w/o the shades.

First console: Atari 2600

First PC: Intel 386 with a 30 Mhz CPU (this was the only computer we had so everybody shared).

The 386 was fun for its time (like 20 years ago) as I got to play around in DOS in my very early adolescence. I can remember putting in countless 3.5" floppy disks to install a game that were a few MBs. Also, I can remember typing in something like "cd C:\\My Programs\\Budokan" and then typing in "budokan.exe" to start the game.

I grew up with an Atari 2600, but the first console I purchased myself was a NES. My parents were early adopters of Macintosh and have had one since mid 80's.

Computer: KayPro - the ones with the like 8-12 inch all green screen. Played Carmen SanDiego games on it.

When I was five my grandparents gave me an NES with Super Mario 1 and 3 and The Legend of Zelda. I've been a Nintendo fanboy ever since. (Though I had a soft spot for Sonic games as well.)

I didn't own a computer of my own until pretty late. It was a Compaq laptop of some kind, utterly awful.
