Is it possible to have two playthroughs going on in ME1 at the same time. Like, will i be able to switch between the two?

Of course, when you go into loading screen, there should be a button for switching careers, just like in ME 2 the feature is there. I think is the Y button.

Yeah, and I'm really glad...that way you can switch if you get tired of a particular play style. Plus this doesn't relate to the 2 playthroughs being simultaneous, but different Shepards for import into ME2 can make quite a difference.
