I swear to God, this is the zombie topic from hell. It won't go away. I want to stab it with a sharp object until it dies. I'm going mad. I'm starting to see things. What was that? A shadow just moved. There's cottage cheese everywhere. I hear "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" on an old record player, where's it playing, where's it coming from?!
Yes, Miranda shagged you in the freaking engine room!!! You know you liked it!!! Get over it!!!!!!!
And of course, it must be because she's petty and vindictive! Yes, I'll bet she recorded the whole thing with a hidden camera just to be evil and then gave the tape to Tali, providing play-by-play narrations of each kiss and hip thrust as Tali weeped uncontrollably in a corner, while belowdecks Jack lay on her bunk dragging a knife across her arm and sobbing!
I sense much anger in you.
We Miranda fans tend to get angry at the insinuation that selecting the engine room says something bad about her. It does not. She likes sex in unusual places - so what?
In a few similarly-named topics, I have said that she selected it because it was neutral territory, so that this event cannot be interpreted as one belongig to the other. The location underlines their status as equals.
Of course, this is an after-the-fact interpretation. The real question is: why did Bioware select this location - with all the disadvantages like observable by at least one team member, a corrugated metal floor, the workplace of another team member etc.? Someone, IMO, really didn't think about this more than "Oh, wouldn't that be cool".
Personally, I would have preferred the scene to take place in Miranda's room, in front of the window looking out at space. That would have been romantic, and still very different from the other romances. But we got the engine room. It's not my favorite location, but it's OK. And it definitely says nothing bad about Miranda.
@Nightwriter:
I feel with you. But since we can't kill this zombie for good, better dismember it while it's shambling around.
@CptPatch:

Edit:
I have to retract one statement and correct one often-made mistake: The place where Miranda and Shepard meet in the engine room is not observable from anywhere! The two windows from Mordin and Jacob look out over the engine core, but Miranda and Shepard never go there. The other rooms have no windows to the engine room. Jack's place is separated by a door and/or the floor, and Tali has been moved. So much for the "rub it into my rival's faces" argument.
