But if you want my honest opinion of Bioware's real reasons for the engine room, I think they just thought male gamers would find it cool. That's all.
Yep - this is the most likely scenario. It's rough and wild and shows the goods - going to have the tongues drooling of a certain demographic.

Well I'm pretty sure the other crew would know they were in a relationship, especially if you were romancing the other women. And I don't exactly see many of the crew members as the going to dinner type, you know between the geth, the assassin, the anti social maniac, the violent krogan, Garrus and Tali who couldn't eat whatever everyone else was having, The salarian scientist who I wouldn't be surprised if he forgets to eat occasionally, and an asari justicar who probably isn't used to eating around with other people, I'd say that the only squadmate I could see socializing in the mess area is Jacob.kraidy1117 wrote...

Even if they can't see Miranda and Shepard, they could hear them alright
Yes because you can hear moanining over the loud huming noise that the core makes. Great job
EDI :Mr. Taylor, you have a message coming in from the engine room.
Jacob:Hm... must be Tali -presses button-
Miranda over intercom :Oh shepard, yes, yes ,yes!
Jacob: D=
Kelly is not even around, and Tali is gone and most likely Jack since she is up near the cockpit.
Again, postings changed during this part.We don't know where Tali was postedf or has many have bropught up, everyone was at the mess having there final meal, which is a great reason IMHO.
which neither Shepard or Miranda would have been at, doesn't take much to put two and two together, thus leading to the peeping squadmates
How do you know miri and Shepard did't give them a good reason. Shepard not coming to dinner is not that strange, as for Miri, she is Shepards second and command. Again this would not be strange if she was not there. Your arguments are getting weaker and weaker.

I'm sure others have considered this question before. But I have my own theory:
When Miranda finally decides to jump Shepard's bones, she arranges to do so in the Engine Room, rather than her quarters or his. Some have theorized that she chose that locale because it's "neutral ground". I have a simpler theory:
Miranda is a Bee-otch, with a capital "B".
Consider what else is in the immediate vicinity: Tali's post is just around the corner. And there's no doors in between. Even if Tali was told to vacate, she's bright enough to understand why she's being told to leave her post.
Jack's quarters are wide open to the open shaft under that platform where Miranda and Shepard go at it. Undoubtedly, Jack will hear every "oomph", "ahh!" and "oh, god!" that those two let slip.
Miranda is a Bee-otch, with a capital "B".
Miranda MUST know that her two competitor's for Shepard's Romantic inclinations will be intimately aware that she, Miranda, got him and they did NOT.
Miranda is a Bee-otch, with a capital "B".
It's not enough that she win the competition. She has to rub the losers' noses in it.
Beeeeeee-otch.
Thats the way I likem

Probably thought they were playing into every male gamer's Kirk fantasy or something, being a starship captain having sex with a hot woman in their own spaceship.

I don't see how my argument is weak, and even if they don't know it is in the engine room it would only take a slightly dirty mind to know where the two missing squadmates arekraidy1117 wrote...
Well thats your fault, because I can see everyone eating together, plus how do they know Miri and Shepard are doing it in the engine room. Your argument is getting very weak now, you are weak in the force.
