Personally I'd imagine it as a male human noble, with Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana (sacred ashes leliana that is!) joining him in his fight against the darkspawn.

A few didn't like the Dalish origins, but if it concentrates on the Dalish Hero just murdering any Elfist human it shoud work...
er, yes the film probably lends itself to City Elf, or Human noble better.
What would work is Human Noble, Make Oghren the Dwarf Noble, Lelliana could be made to fit as a city Elf... Maybe. You don't want to many characters

I demand the main character be a dwarf! There aren't enough movie dwarves who aren't comic relief side characters.
Dwarves can't be main characters. They are too small. Same thing with gnomes etc.
Im serious, are there any fantasy books with a dwarf main character?

Actually this, this is fairly true.
Of course your biggest fear should not be that it will be produced by Americans, but rather a certain German.

Who'd have thought German tax laws would be the main reason he gets away with so many films.
Anyway I agree the universal law of a movie made from a game = bad move, and a game made from a file = bad game.
There are some exceptions mind.
I thought Mortal Kombat was a fun film, yes it was bad, but somehow enjoyable.
The first Resident Evil wasn't a complete disaster and was quite fun.
And that er concludes my list....

Which is exactly why they should start. It'd be original.
Female warder would be Oscar worthy though. Kate winslet any one.

nah Female Dwarf Noble
I would rather see a movie basede on the books than the game mainly because of the many choices in DA that change the ending (for example I would love to see many of the "evil" choices in the game come about)
Although seeing the Archdemon horde fight would be awesome!

Same here love DN and playing as a Female Warden, but on the big screen imagine the possibilities
Would the movie include romances though (probably Alistair or Leliana)

As much as i love the sacred ashes trailer like the OP i think that the film would be a fail just like all the other video games to movies so far, there are too many variables for it to make everyon happy;
what should the warden look like
who should play the characters
what should be the plot
what desisions should be made
It may be a tiny bit better if the entire film was CGI as at least all the charaters would be voiced and desgined correctly, but aside from that, no i think no matter what you do it would fail.

Now where was I? Oh yes I think with the right producer DragonAge could be a great movie, provided they STICK with the story and all it's components. Whether it is a male or female Warden it needs to be someone who will fit the part. I actually prefer casting of little known actors or maybe go out and search out all new talent. You know there are folks who wil fit those roles and would be cheaper to produce. Money can be spent on making Thedas look authentic (Please no women under 150 lbs and no men who are so buff you might as well be snuggling up to a boulder. Be nice to see a woman of substance and meat be the kickass chick for once)
Although Helena Bonham as Morrigan would be kickass. She was diobolically good as Bellatrix and knows how fit right in to her parts.

Well said sister! Oh god her being Isolde will make me want to kill her or sacrifice herself even more. I dont' think I will be able to look at her without wanting to feed her to darkspawn.

While it's true that movie versions of games almost inevitably suck, ask yourselves why that is. I'd say the biggest reason is that games typically aren't that deep, and so the films are either just as shallow, or they make up a bunch of rubbish to try and add depth to it.
And you're going to tell me Super Mario Brothers wasn't a GREAT film?
(Sorry, hope I didn't need to put the sarcasm tag to indicate I was chortling as I typed that).

Egads, it sucked. Even worse than the Dungeons & Dragons animated TV series, and that's saying something.
Other than Jeremy Irons doing his darndest with the crappiest script ever written, I can't think of any other redeeming features.
