Make it into a trillogy like LOTR, but then all the fan boys will cry themselves to sleep at night and wimper on multiple forums that the Warden isint there warden. Maybe if we all band toghther and send angry thoughts at Bioware they will abandon all hopes at a movie to keep our glorified fan fiction pure and good. Just read the thoughts on the Mass Effect movie and you will get it.

Then again maybe a movie would be awsome and epic and we should move on with our lives. What does it matter if they make a movie about a different origin if it is not your favourite or preferred one, I liked all six and I am not screaming for all 6 to be included. By the way Doom was a pass for an action film.

Maybe if the Prince of Persia and upcoming World of Warcraft movies are good, I'd push for a Dragon Age movie. My ultimate nightmare would be Uwe Boll getting the rights to Dragon Age, with Lou Diamond Phillips as Duncan, Spencer Pratt as Allistair, and Lindsay Lohan as Leliana. Did I mention the hordes of guys in cheap Halloween masks running around as darkspawn?

Honestly though, this franchise would be harder to make into a move than Mass Effect. Dragon Age seems like just too complicated a world for the Hollywood execs to wrap their brain around. It was quite a stretch for the Lord of the Rings movies to get greenlighted, and Tolkien's works have become classical literature.

This got me wondering actually.

I could go for a Torment movie. That might actually be rather good. It's a crazy enough storyline with some fearsomely good characters.

BRB reinstalling Torment. Dammit.

and Lindsay Lohan as Leliana.

The trick there is keeping her out of jail or rehab long enough to finish the film.

BTW, as long as we're putting forth actor/actress absurdities, I think Danny deVito would make a great Oghren.

John Rys Davies is the only actor who can play a dwarf and still be cool.

The most likely movie would be a Jerry Bruckheimer production of a Uwe Boll movie starring Keanu Reeves as Duncan, Jake Gyllenhaal as the warden and Keira Knightley as Wynne.

Gak.  You just made me throw up in my mouth.   Image IPB

...especially the biggest no-talent in Hollywood as Duncan.  Image IPBImage IPB

Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB agree with mousestalker
Keanu Reeves as Duncan would be a disgraceImage IPB
Jake Gyllenhaal as a Warden would be even more of a disgraceImage IPB

Keira Knightly is one of the worst disgraces I can think of for an actress. I am not fond of Wynne but I would not even insult her character by casting that bag of bones!Image IPB

If they ever decide to do a DragonAge movie I think the use of Hollywood actors is forbidden and Hollywood directors for that matter. Only someone who is willing for ONCE to stick with a books storyline and not botch it up should be allowed to direct the movie.  Match the character up to a person who would fit that role, not match the character to some overpaid Hollywood actor. Or better yet just do the thing in CGI (or like the movie Beuwolf that came out a couple years ago). Hollywood screws almost every book up that gets turned into a story. ALMOST anyway.............If it ain't broke don't fix it.

DA would never make a good movie, the plot and setting are far too cliche and derivative of tired fantasy tropes. None of the aspects of the game that make it great can be transplanted into a movie.

sadly this.  There is NOTHING new or non generic in Dragon Age.  Sure there are differences..but none great enough to make it stand out.

it'll go down as a LotR ripoff...and a poor one at that unless it get's a budget on par if not higher then LotR.

Even the Darkspawn look like Orcs/Uru-Kai (sp) were torn right from the movies.

Yah Mass Effect could work as a movie because Sci-Fi can share points with other series and still be good,

A Dragon age movie would be called a Willow or LOTR ripoff. Although I bet the girls would go crazy if Teagan led a charge into Denerim like Eomer at helms deep.

BTW I am the only one who notices that Peter Jackson has a love affair with Rohan, and how ganked Gondor is in the movies?

I agree that games to movies hasn't really worked in the past but has anyone seen Prince of Persia yet? Trailers look good so my hopes are so high but I should know better. Oh well I will be seeing it tomorrow if not Friday.

Dwarf or Elf warrior/rogue

Not enough dwarves and elves involved, the party is almost all human. Plus the Dwarf and Elf(Dalish) > Human anything

Yes, I noticed that too. Peter Jackson misportrayed so many things, like Aragorn's 'king angst' and the Witch-King suddenly being boosted to be more powerful than Gandalf. I think what we sa was Peter Jackson's personal favorite interpretation, rather than a faithful adaptation. So, poor adaptation, absolutely fantastic movies however. The casting in particular was good.

But, anway, I think a movie would suck, and suck badly. Dragon Age is a great game, but as has been said, everything that makes it great would not translate to a movie.

While it's true that movie versions of games almost inevitably suck, ask yourselves why that is. I'd say the biggest reason is that games typically aren't that deep, and so the films are either just as shallow, or they make up a bunch of rubbish to try and add depth to it. Dragon Age, on the other hand, is rich with cultures, traditions, religion and conflict. I think it could be done very well, though I doubt it's something that will ever happen.

No.  Almost universally, the video game story is better than the craptastic movie story.  The reason is simple.  They are low budget movies made simple to attract the brain dead members of the male 18-25 market.  The talent level hired to make these movies is barely above that of a bunch of college students making a film with a handheld camera.  This is personified by the infamous Uwe Bowl.

The only way I'd be okay with a Dragon Age movie would be if it wasn't focused on the Warden. If they did make a movie it should be about the first DA novel.

if they make a movie about it it should be a movie about a totally different event. Maybe the first blight idk ,but i think if they made a movie about the same events it would just ruin the game for alot of people

Has possibilities; just as long as they don't make the warden into an arcane warrior.
Can you imagine the warden commander going into battle. As soon as he sees the enemy, he has to stop so he can cast several spells on himself. Then he runs in to battle the darkspawn, yelling "Take that, dire bunny. Fear my sword of truthiness." Followed by repeated scenes of auto-attack, auto-attack, auto-attack. Same thing, every battle. Of course you could substitute "take that.........thuthiness" with "by the ***s of my ancestors", or "makers breath ", or any of your other favourite DAO quotes.

Somehow, I don't think that would go over to well, with the audience.

No, I do not think it would translate well into a movie. And I think the Warden being a male human noble would make it unoriginal. One aspect I enjoy of Dragon Age: Origins is encountering and overcoming racism and sexism.
