Due to a rather lucky set of events I have become the owner of a new Hewlett-Packard TouchSmart 600-1050. I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. Now currently I dont have a PC set for gaming, (I'm current limited to playing on consoles at the moment) and I understand the computer is question isnt really designed to be a gaming type PC. I've also been told its not going to really be a computer that can really be upgraded based on the all-in-one aspect of its design.
I'd like to know if anyone who is way more techo-savy than someone like myself is familiar with the computer and could give me an idea if its even possible to dream to run any of the games on it. If need be I can get all the specs for the system but so far as I know its whatever the standard is for that model so its not a big video card or anything.
Can this PC handle ME1 / ME2 / DA:O?

The official system specs for ME2 are here
http://social.biowar...06/index/773925 (ME1 is below that, so don't worry, however the NVIDIA G200 in the TouchSmart is not mentioned there...)
For DA:O I found this: http://www.vgrequire...age-origins-pc/
It looks pretty close... These touch-screen PCs are not primarily designed for gaming. Once you have the PC set up, check the website http://cyri.systemre...CYRI/intro.aspx to run a java-based system test and let it compare the results with the game's requirements.

Thanks. I've been checking a few other similar system compare sites similar to the Cyri one (obviously I have to plug in the specs though, sure a Java system test is faster) and it looks like I might be able to pull off ME1 and DA:O but the graphics card migh fall short with ME2. I'll try the test thing though once I actually have the PC in hand and can tell a little bit better.
Would an external video card be a viable option if the internal guts of said PC are unable to be equiped with a new/better card?? I feel extremely ignorant asking these type of questions but I've really be out of the PC realm of things since the mid 90s.

"external video card" No those are mainly used for adding an extra display.
The NVIDIA GeForce G200 Graphics with 320MB integrated shared graphics memory, it won't be able to handle much, so don't expect much from DA:O, maybe playable at lower settings. ME2 will be a huge challenge for it...
It doesn't look like your getting into that PC to upgrade with anything.

Was a thought. I had heard of the concept of using them with laptops to boost the options so I thought it might work. Oh Well its free so I'm sure I can find something to do with it. I know my wife will if nothing else. Someday I'll have the wastable income to drop on a gaming PC.... someday.

Boost the options, not the performance.

The greatest majority of devices of that nature are connecting with USB, and even the very newest USB version is far too slow for good 3D game performance. Generally speaking, the pricing of the devices remains quite high for the moderate value they add. Several times, another type of video console device has been proposed that would use some other, far faster laptop connector / bus (exact name momentarily hidden in some memory cranny), with prototypes being shown by at least three companies.
ATI and Asus had individual designs, and one of the ATI / AMD business partner companies showed a version of the ATI device, but none of those three ever went quite as far as a production run of engineering examples.

Does this TouchSmart PC have desktop or notebook components built in?
Strangely the product site http://www.shopping....t/NY538AA%23ABA
"1 PCI-E x16 slot (MXM)) (occupied)" which leads my to think the "NVIDIA GeForce G200 Graphics" might sit there. If that's the case, you might be able to buy a faster card an swap it out :-)

As far as I've been able to deduce from a search the thing's got a notebook MXM graphics card.
Normally G200 is a whole architecture (so saying "Nvidia G200" is like saying "Intel Core CPU") but perhaps they actually manufactured something that's even crappier than the G210.
Regarding that PCI-E MXM slot. It's a mostly-standard that's in theory upgradeable, which is good. In practice it seems difficult and very expensive to actually upgrade it.
I know you're probably gonna hit me for insulting your new PC, especially if you got it through a fortunate series of events. And rightfully so. =)
But that thing looks overpriced and underpowered unless you really need the form factor. Oh, and it's subject to the iMac effect:

:-D
In any case a touch screen is pretty usable for the standard applications and OS :-)
