Challenging is not the word I would have used. Insane is closer. =) I'm partway through now and while combat is tough, it is still doable. a couple things I did notice. Starting gear is standard from DAO which means if the character doesn't gear up before going to the first battle, they will be dead most of the time until they do gear up. Not too bad as the npc's can hold their own, but it does add considerably to the challenge of the game. I ended up doing a custom tactics which added an autopot to each of the characters as health drops very quickly.
Storyline is really great. If you are a longtime Wow player, you will get a lot of the references, otherwise it should still be fine. I did notice a couple of bugs. The Vendor in Redcliffe Day who was the Blacksmith's daughter from Origins still says her default text (abover her head) after done purchasing from her. This was the only NPC I found so far who did that. Also, in the Dalish camp, the NPC's that are supposed to be another guild get stuck at one of the trees. (except the lead one). I forgot the names of all these as I was playing last night and am not at my regular computer.
I haven't yet done the Ostagar portion, so I'll let you know what I find when I go there.

Thanks for the feedback! Merchants having something to say every time you shop with them is intentional, but the guild in the Dalish camp getting stuck is definitely a bug, thanks! That being said, you haven't ever seen someone in an MMO running into a wall because they're AFK with autorun on?

*giggles* Yes, and have been guilty of doing it.

Is this a standalone mod? Your description says stand-alone but the boss encounter readme references all the OC areas.
Asking coz I am starting a new playthrough with (hopefully) a custom class tomorrow and would like to include this mod if it can be played through the OC (otherwise, might try just this mod to see how overpowered I can make my class)

It's a stand-alone, I'm just reusing the OC area layouts (again) because I'm terrible at level art. I think the justification makes for an entertaining premise though

I really have to reccomend this brilliant mod to anyone who enjoys battles in the DA:O engine. It might just be the best module (or even singleplayer RPG) I've ever played to try out different parties in challenging fights. Also, the story idea feels fresh, and the references are numerous and hilarious. And I was just playing the Alpha version!
