its simple enough, what did you name your PC(s) and why, everyone has a motivation for calling them what ever they did for some reason and i just thought it would be intreasting to see the names and reasons behind it all.

now i'll go irst, i called my Human male warrior Achilles because for those of you that know even the slightest bit about greek mytholgy your'll know that Achilles is meant to be the greatest warrior that ever lived and i found it fitting that if my guy is gonna save Thedas than this is in appropiate name, i also love the fillm troy and brad pitts performance in it not to mention i find greek mytholgy highly intreasting. So now its your turn, fire away.

Among others, I have two elves called Raelis Shai and Phaere that BG2 fans surely recognize. A little tribute to Bioware, they're better with names I ever could be ;)

Also have a human noble female called Silmarien, inspired by Tolkien.

Always call Any Male Elf I play Lintanis. It Was the name of one of my D&D characters and the only one I got to go from Lv1 to Lv30 being a mage that was very hard at low lvl because my friends always roleplayed warriors and they never defended me :)

Game 1: Cenwyn from Bernard Cromwell's King Arthur Trilogy. Her husband Dervel is also the name my real life husband adopted for his Dagorhir persona in addition to that being his Dragonage game name. (human noble)

Game 2: Arianna-have always loved that name and it is so very elvish (dalish elf)

Game 3: Istabella-A name I found in a historical fiction novel about Italy. (human noble)

I usually go with the default names (thrilling, I know) in DA, but I named my female Dalish elf Celwaen. It was a sample name that I saw...somewhere. I think it may have been from an Elder Scrolls walkthrough or something.

I use Rhys (Reese) for at least one PC in any game I can name a toon in. I found it especially fitting in this game because not only is it part of my middle name, it also means 'Dragon' or 'Ultimate Strength'. Very fitting imo.

I also usually end up making some offshoot of James or Jamie (Jamaz/Jaemi, and the like), just because I really like the flow of those names for some reason.

Let's see... I've got Akiva (DN), Emmaline (HN), Kiara (HM), and Santiel (DE) because I heard all those names at some point in my life, liked 'em, and named my characters as such.

Then I have a City Elf named 'Mimieux' after one of my favorite movie characters.

Keira Cousland

Human Mage:
Liam Amell
Melissa Amell

Elven Mage:
Trevyn Surana
Katje Surana

City Elf:
Anselm Tabris
Valia Tabris

Dalish Elf:

Human Orlesian Grey Warden:
Adrias Caron
Christelle Caron

Elven Orlesian Grey Warden:

Dwarven Orlesian Grey Warden:

Some names(not used): Ardeth, Daina, Catriona, Daegan, Gaelle, Deithwen, Dagorad, Nicolette, Anarietta

Why these names? No reason, though I would like to point of the fact that some of them are from the Witcher books. So much for the originality..

lvl 29 Human Mage, Arcane Warrior with advanced Shapeshifting ability. Named Kalel for a scene in the New (Old lol) Adventures of Superman with Dean Cain. Roger Daltry's Kryptonian assassin confronting Clark on Earth, greets him with the words, "Kalel, you have become a Wizard!!" upon witnessing his abilities as Superman. Gr8 expression and couldn't resist :ph34r:

:alien::alien::alien::alien:PS, Coincidental "martha and jonathan" cutscene - 2 farmers rescuing a naked baby boy lying strangely in a massive meteorite crator after Returning to Ostagar DLC hahaha....:alien::alien::alien::alien:

My Arcane Warrior (which is my canon Warden) is named "Thomas" because he's my Marty Sue character. Shame about his face, he looks like the love child of Aragorn and Michael Jackson. For all other characters I steal names from the Silmarillion generally, with a few named after people form the Dragon Age setting.

Human Mage, Crowley Amell.  Named for Aleister Crowley.  I wanted to play a spooky mage.  This was my first playthrough, so I really dug being a Grey Warden duo with Alistair the templar.  Alistair and Crowley, rockin' out, fightin' the Blight.

Common Dwarf, Pullo Brosca.  Named for Titus Pullo, specifically the portrayal of him in the HBO series "Rome".  He's the stabbinest legionaire in the legion.

Dalish Elf, Artemisia Mahariel.  Named for Artemisia Gentileschi, who is my favorite female painter.

Missa Brosca is named Missa as I wanted a vaguely scampish name to suit a female thug.

Sereda Aeducan is still Sereda as I loved the name. Stll do.

Vardel Mahariel is named is a butchered form of Varden, a, elven character from a book series I loved reading as a teenager.

Male Dalish: Tzofi. It means scout, protector or guard. It fits his personality perfectly.

Female Dalish mage (I love mods): Keshet which means bow or rainbow.

Male elven mage: Ashke, because I really do love the Valdemar books and Vanyel.

Human noble female: Ilit which means uppermost or superlative, since she is a noble.

Female city elf: Serafina which means burning fire. She is a red head, and after that origin she is pretty much a bundle of rage.

Male city elf:Yakir which means honorable. Again, very descriptive of his personality.

Female dwarven noble: Gazit which means cut stone- appropriate for a child of the stone.

Human noble male: Abir which means hero or strong.

Male dwarven commoner: Eitan meaning strong.

Female dwarven commoner: Sela meaning rock.

Male elven mage: Asa meaning healer.

Male Dalish: Ilan meaning tree.

(and then there were the two Therons and a Neria) I have too many characters...

Female Human Noble - Ophelia. Named her after a short-lived female, heavy armored sword & board warrior I created in Oblivion some time ago. She's not exactly sanest person either.

Male Human Magi - Dorrian. It fit his self-centered character very much.

Female Elf Magi - Mystaria. Named her after a weapon a certain character weilded in Vanguard Bandits. Alwayst thought of it as a very cool and mysterious name.

Female City Elf - Aleena. Used this one from a very old OC of mine. Don't even remember her now except for the name.

Male Dalish Elf - Petri. Named after Petri Lindroos of Norhter and Ensiferum. It totaly fit with his face and manerisms.

Male Dwarf Noble - Gendryk. Wanted a unique, but not too high fantasy sounding dwarven name that would't sound too much out of place when compared to his brothers. I was thinking for good 30 or so minutes before it just popped into my head all of a sudden.

Male Dwarf Commoner - Ernir. I wanted something that felt "Middle-Earthish" for this one. Came up with it by mutating Ernie a bit. The name means earnest and sincere, which Ernir is despite being a thief and a lowlife.

Male Human Warden - Francois. Orlesian Warden = French. No explanations needed.

Female Dwarf Warden - Marcelle. It felt energetic and spunky, very much like the character.

Male Elf Mage Warden - Konstantin. Loyal, wise and hardy.

I named mines Tristin, as in the one from the Arthurian Legends, which says that he was a tragic hero, dieing in the end. Which perfectly fits with my Human Noble or Mage, considering what they've been through and all the flaws they have, like any tragic hero in a story.
