Human Noble Galahad. He's named after the bastard son of Sir Lancelot, and a knight of the round table.
I'd be lieing if I said it wasn't mainly because of Montey Python and the Holy Grail.

Hm, good thread and interesting replies! :)

Here are the characters I have so far and intend to play:

Human Noble Warrior:

Pyrano - anagram of my real name; as such, I'll probably name most of my human males this
Dalish Elf
i) rogue:

Avar - based on Tolkien's Sindarin roots: root here meaning "unwilling", which is what my Elf was when it came to leaving his clan and ajoining the Grey Wardens
ii) warrior:
Aenor - my nickname, but backwards
City Elf:
Leoron - my first ever character and as such, the name is fairly generic fantasy (almost identical to the name given by the DAO generator). I like it though because it still contaisn a part of my name
Dwarf Noble Warrior (f)
:
Ulduara - name blantantly stolen from my favourite raid in the World of Warcraft

There you have it! I intend to make more though :D

My second character, Alessa, was named after the Silent Hill-character Posted Image

Jane, because there are so many famous Jane's. It is a plain name, but at the same time it sounds grand. Calamity Jane, Jane Austin, Jane Wyman, Jane Lane, Jane Powell, Jane Goodall...I could go on...I designed my character to be nothing special, who did ordinary things. But she goes above and beyond people's expectations.

I named my elf rogue, London, an exotic name. It is a boys name really, but I like giving boys names to ladies. She was heavily made up with stylish hair, I used as many colours and flashy things on her as possible. She was an evil character because she pretended to be nice and stabbed people (including her own) in the back simply because she could. She saved the world because she was good.

At last is Impala. Named after my fav African animal. A human mage with lovely asian features. I made her quite modelqesue, but again--nothing fancy. She is obbessed with power and justice, even though her views are quite warped. She is a rather bloodlusty bloodmage. ;p

M!Amell: Cadryn. Played a DnD character named Cameron once, and when I can't come up with a name I default to this. But as I was polishing him up I went, "That name is boring. Fsh." and changed it.

M!Cousland: Drystan. I have no idea why.

F!Tabris: Marinen. I pull names out of my butt.

M!Mahariel: Vanastin. This posterior-name-pulling thing is a pastime.

F!Cousland: Mellia is actually my partner's play through. It's a default name of his for female characters.

The others are generics, because I didn't really care.

That entire album is awesome, in my opinion. Possibly my favourite Nightwish album, if only by a minute margin... All their albums are awesome, really.

In any case, I named my first female mage Liluri after some ancient Middle Eastern deity, if I recall correctly. A very pretty name. I played a rogue, but never completed that playthrough. She had the least inspired name of them all: Naria.

Then I went for another female mage, this time calling her Kyllikki, a Finnish name, and a big wink to my own creative aspirations. Her dog was called Eeyore to make the reference complete.

And my previous character was called Leilani, she was a city elf (the best origin in my opinion), simply because the name just rolls of the tongue.

Next I'm going with something that references The Wheel Of Time, because this game is clearly inspired by it, and it references that clearly (Owain is the clearest example, though not the best known). Mind you, that though it is clearly inspired by The Wheel Of Time, it is not in the slightest bit a rip off or anything.

I chose the default names for the rest of the origins except the Human Noble one. Named him with the same as mine - Julian Silvascene Kraynog.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the album, but I just had my expectations so high after "Once" and "Dark Passion Play" just didn't live up to them.

I use variations of my real name which is Debbie. So I have used Deborah, Devora, Devra, Devira, Debra, etc--- you get the deal. Just because I want to put myself into the game.

I also use dog names of real life dogs that I have known.

My "Canon" PC was a HNF warrior named Valora (Latin) which means "to be healthy, strong".

HNM: Roland (I always pick that name in every RPG I play. He was one of Charlemagne's paladins) and it means "Famed" which kind of fits the "Hero of Ferelden"

DEF: Rhiannon (Welsh) means "nymph"

MEF: Neria (Default name), my current PC

I've done a lot of other playthroughs but I can't recall their names mostly to get different builds/achievements.

F Aeduncan: Is the default Sereda now by mistake but it was supposed to be Sigrid since I like ancient Nordic names on dwarves. It would have been confusing with Sigrun in Awakenings though.

M Cousland: Devrim, he is a slightly insane noble that think he is something like Robin Hood and wants to change Fereldan society. The name means revolution.

M Mahariel: Therion, I just added an i since it was so close to a band name already.

F Surana: Dahlia, my idea is that her city elf parents tried to name her after the dalish.

M Surana: Vadim, sounds a bit like Alim and I found it on a list of names meaning mage.

Wll my name is Levi, so whenever I see there is a fantasy game I name my PC Lehvi (because normal names just don't seem to blend well). I have also created Valmoria, Wyoh (a cookie to the person that gets the reference, HINT: look at my name), Orin, and then other random names for goof-off characters.

Lehvi is my main and is a Human Noble Warrior. I was quite upset that the first 'Levi' I had ever seen in a video game/movie/book pronounced his name 'Levy'. My heart broke a little inside.

Valmoria is the name of my custom built ebony scimitar from Morrowind, enchanted with a 200pt drain life spell using Almalexia's Soul captured in Azura's star. I named my Mage that, and it just seemed fitting due to the DPS monster both are.

Wyoh is my elf chick, she uses bows, and i just chose this name because I always liked it a lot. Not to mention the book it is from is probably one of the best books ever written.

Orin is my Doorf, i choose a lot of German/Nordic names for a lot of my characters (Anja is another favorite). He is a Hammer-wielding doorf (original I know), and he looks really cute in his little tin can. Ahhh...

Now that about sums it up, you probably read more about my characters than you really wanted to.
