For my Human Noble: Solomon. Just wanted a name that sounded grand and powerful
The others I just went with the defaults.

F mage: Medea, just like the witch from the greek mythology
M arcane warrior mage: Calidius. Quite popular roman name, but this particular one was inspired by the gravestone inscription of the roman centurion. Simply the best for the powerful warrior.

Why would you assume that? I haven't the slightest clue where these names might come from.

Kaida is my Human Noble archer Rogue. Kaida is a Japanese name for "little dragon". I thought it sounded nice.
Madelyn is my Elf Mage from Orlais. She's named after a good friend of mine.
I also have a Human Mage called Ligeia, though I've yet to play either campaign with her. She's named after a mage character that I played on a MUD when I was in middle school. The name originates from an E.A. Poe story.

1ST WARDEN-
Corviel Tabris
Male City Elf Warrior
Specialization: Champion
Romance: Morrigan
Origin of name: Corviel, from what I've heard from family history, is either a Middle Ages or Roman variation/origin of my Portuguese last name. Ever since I heard the name "Corviel," I've been hooked and have used it in some form in Medieval-style RPGs
2ND WARDEN-
Sundira Aeducan
Female Dwarf Noble Rogue
Specialization: Duelist (may add another as I'm currently playing Awakening with her)
Romance: Alistair
Origin of name: named after the character Sundira Thane, the major female character in the Sci-Fi novel "The Face of the Waters" by Robert Silverberg, one of my favorite novels. The name itself I found kinda sexy and it belongs to a sexy but tough woman, so I thought it appropriate for my female dwarf, who I wanted to portray in the same vein through my playthrough.
3RD WARDEN-
Omeria Surana
Female Elf Mage
Specializations: Shapeshifter, Arcane Warrior
Romance: first Alistair, broke up with him to get him to be king, then moved to Zevran
Origin of name: Kinda funny story. There was this girl I met during my first week in college; Had a wierd name, Odemaris. I thought it was "Omeria" when I saw her a week later, but it turned out I forgot the actual name. Anyway the second, Omeria, while being an accidental name, stuck in my mind, and I occasionally use it in character creations in various games.
4TH WARDEN-
Malcolm Cousland
Male Human Noble Warrior
Specialization: Reaver
Romance: None specific but eventually married Queen Anora (hooked up with every female possible first ;p)
Origin of name: Macbeth is my favorite Shakespeare play so the following should be obvious: There was a Duncan already so I felt it fit. Named my dog Macduff to compliment the theme.
5TH WARDEN (IN PROGRESS)-
Hallic Brosca
Male Dwarf Commoner Rogue
Specialization: Ranger
Romance: Leliana
Origin of name: not really one. This is jibberish, I think. Wanted a hard-sounding sound for a name to compliment a male dwarf.
6TH WARDEN (IN PROGRESS)-
Ophelia Cousland
Female Human Noble Warrior
Specialization: none yet
Romance: not developed yet but aiming for an Alistair/Leliana/Isabella affair
Origin of name: Had a tough time with this, so I turned once again to Shakespeare for inspiration. Ophelia is a good enough name IMHO.
WARDEN COMING SOON:
Crixus Mahariel
Male Dalish Elf Warrior
(I recently watched "Spartacus Blood and Sand" and Crixus was one of my favorite characters so I'm gonna base as much of my Dalish Elf on him as I can.)

Human Male Noble: Brandon~ The name has family signifigance, and I also felt it was a strong and noble name. He is a total good guy with the exception of his facination with the swamp witch.
Female Mage: Katirel, I liked the name, then read Gaider's books can't remember if I created her before or after reading them however. She is an arcane warrior and blood mage.
Female Mage: Solona~ not original, but I liked the name. Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer/Battle Mage. The only character I have finished Awakenings with. I really like this one, she is formidable.
I can't really remember all the rest of my play throughs, and I have many more characters, but these were the few that were a little more meaningful to me. I have to say my favorite orgins are the City Elf and Mage.

Fell for Alistair and learned to trust humans.
Male Human Mage - Lok. I wanted something short, snappy, and masculine. Something that would suit an attractive and scheming playboy.
Morrigan tamed his wild ways and wrapped him around her little finger.
Female Dwarven Commoner - Nalia. Sweet and girlish. The name reminds me of caramel for some reason.
Found Zevran to be too enticing to resist.
Male Dwarven Noble - Grent. Masculine, hard-headed, and somewhat bullish. I wanted it to sound sturdy, like a stone.
An honorable woman like Leliana for an honorable dwarf like Grent.
Female Dalish Elf - Akre. It needed to be suitable to a strong female who has no need for "girly" indulgences when there is hard labor to be done. Powerful and full of rage. Racist against anyone who didn't have pointed ears.
Romanced no one. I never finished her because she was too bitter for my little heart to role play. I like to imagine she was involved in one argument too many before abandoning the party for good, leaving them to suffer the fate of the Darkspawn Chronicles.
I never kept up with the human noble origin because it felt too cliche for my tastes.

its simple enough, what did you name your PC(s) and why, everyone has a motivation for calling them what ever they did for some reason and i just thought it would be intreasting to see the names and reasons behind it all.
now i'll go irst, i called my Human male warrior Achilles because for those of you that know even the slightest bit about greek mytholgy your'll know that Achilles is meant to be the greatest warrior that ever lived and i found it fitting that if my guy is gonna save Thedas than this is in appropiate name, i also love the fillm troy and brad pitts performance in it not to mention i find greek mytholgy highly intreasting. So now its your turn, fire away.
haha, i recently made a Human Noble and called him Achilles to
But back to the topic some of my other characters i just had the default name, but the others i named them after old norse gods and greek gods. like Zeus and Thor and etc.. My first character tough i named him after myself;
Haakon.

Male Elven mage: Xaldin Surana
Male Dalish Elf: Vega Mahariel
Big fan of kingdom hearts and always wanted my mage character to learn wind spells AND lightning, sadly he can only learn the later.
Calentz is a name I picked up from a game called 'Tears of blood' I used it on a red headed character for another one of my games and ever since then I associated any character I create with red hair as 'Calentz'
As for Vega I don't really remember, I heard it from somewhere and liked the way it sounded. It can be both a female and male name and means 'Dweller in the meadow, one who lives on a plain.'
