I named mines Tristin, as in the one from the Arthurian Legends, which says that he was a tragic hero, dieing in the end. Which perfectly fits with my Human Noble or Mage, considering what they've been through and all the flaws they have, like any tragic hero in a story.

I like that. Funny enough I have 2 characters Tristan (in the works) and Iseult (already started) in my game cue. Which is one of my favorite Celtic Stories to read. Loved the movie with James Franco

Both have a tragic story  and end up dying at some point as well. Ah the things humans do for love and loyalty.

All my male characters are called RvLion and both my female characters are Esmeralda... Why? Rv I have used for all the MMO's I played and Esmeralda because I like the name.

I named my human mage Dinn. It's a random name I made up and sounds like a name a spell caster would have.

I named my Dalish rogue Terra, since it means Earth. It maybe a better name for a dwarf but whatever.

Speaking of dwarves, I plan on calling my future Dwarf commoner Mortan because it kinda sounds like "mountain".

Generally in open wolrd style games I use one of the following (just like my tag) :

Pyyrhic - As in pyyrhic victory - Meaning do whatever it takes to win, even though it may (will) cost you everything and destroy you in the process. (Sort of the Renegade aspect of a Mass Effect character).

Gabriel - As in the archangel Gabriel - One who does good but carries a large sword (Sort of the Paragon aspect of Mass Effect)

My intent is to provide a name that captures the characters personality, rather then reflect their circumstance or profession.

Having read over the origin preludes, my character will most likely be called Pyyrhic, although Gabriel-Pyyrhic is a possibility.

My first play (which is always my fave) was F!HN named Ideria. I always name my first character of any game with a name that starts with I. No reason why, just a standard I've picked up. Ideria was the name of a character in the CrossGen comic Meridian.

My current playthrough is a F!Mage named Althea for a character in the Liveship Traders novels by Robin Hobb.

I use my real name. Exactly how it's spelled too. Am I the only one? =|

I like to put myself into games for immersion, since more often than not, I am someone else.

the little mrs suggested a very dwarven name for my dwarven rogue. Gromnir survived to level 35 in Awakening.

Invidia was the name of my female dwarvern noble, shes my only character ive actualy beat Origens and Awakening with. I named her Invidia because its Latin for Envy which is my favorite sin.

I really like that name. Definitely original compared to other Dwarf names and beautiful on it's own. I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of this warden if you have pics, mostly to see how much the character design fits the name :)

My main character is a Human Noblewoman by the name of Ta'Sharra.

My second most played character is a Dalish named Lunarion.

I have been using those two names for years, though I have many others that I often use in games. I'm the type that associates a name with a personallity. Meaning that, every character in every game named Lunarion will have similar looks (if possible) and a similar personality.

The name of Lunarion (Silver) was something I came up with in... 1999? Maybe earlier, I'm not too sure. Been many years. Ta'Sharra (Vish'Lithe) is a more recent creation. I think I came up with her name in 2004.

Lunarion Silver was used as my internet alias as well for many years. I've only recently turned over to Ta'Sharra.

Other names I use include:

De'Anthis (Male)
Shayce (Either)
Shay/Shayla (Female)
Silvarian (Male)
Silvarious (Male)

I'm a big fan of norwegian names, short names, and male names.. That last one does not go well with my tendency to create female chars, so I often end up with female chars named "Are", "Kai", and of course I have my "Jygri".. wooh.

I'm really stuck with the name "Nymeria" for my Dalish Warden. Image IPB Well, I've aslways loved Martin's Arya)

In the end it turned quite interesting: in the book Nymeria is said to be a warrior who've led her people across the sea and brought them freedom (very general, i've read the book AGES ago) and so did my Dalish Warden  (if you skip the sea part XD) by giving the elves a land of their own. In both cases "Do it for you people!" action is in order)))  Image IPB

Well my first playthrough I named my human rogue, Marko as that is my name.

The second Marcus, human blood-mage.

Then Marlyna, human arcane-warrior.

...and now found an elf-name list with prefixes and suffixes for first and last names, and their meanings... so now I am rolling city-elf rogue called Tara ("Ta" fox - "Ra" lady)

Also I noticed that most of the names in the game are Celtic, so googled up some of them to find their meanings... you should try it, it's fun and very appropriate for 80% of the characters... and that also gives you a chance to find a name for your character that actually has some sense game and roleplayin' wise.

I have a bunch of Dragon Age characters:

- Michael (Human noble) - That's my name in real life.  This is me.
- Caelwyn (Dalish elf) - "Cael" means archer in the Elven naming system, and "Wyn" means musician.  This is the perfect name for him, since he's an archer and a bard.
- Elvira (Human mage) - She's a blood mage with death-related spells.  Elvira is my favorite goth gal of all time!
- Zelda (Elven mage) - She's a spirit healer and will specialize in keeper magic in Awakenings (an Elven princess of sorts, like in The Legend of Zelda).
- Katalin (Dwarven commoner) - I read somewhere that Katalin was the name of a female dwarf, and she's a little cutie with a cute name.
- Olympia (Human noble) - She's Greek-looking with a Greek name.  Really pretty.  Her name is in reference to the Olympic Games.  She'll be the queen as soon as I defeat the archdemon, since she arranged to marry Alistair.

Fem!Dalish: Lenya because...I don't know why it just came to me, like her character shaped on their own without my doing. The girl name Lenya is pronounced as LEHNYah . Lenya is used chiefly in Russian and its origin is Old Greek. Lenya is a short form of the name Helene (German, Greek, and Scandinavian) in the Russian language as well as a variant of the name Helen (English) It means the bright, shining one.

M!Dalish: Alonis: Same case as with Lenya. It just happen and has no meaning.

FemSurana: Auraya. I read the name in a book and liked it.

HNF: Leandra. Needed a more normal name and this was the first I came up with.

DCF: Riana...wanted something roguish but still beautiful and fitting to Zevran.

DNF: Samira. No reasons other than liked the name.

CEF: Aeris. Same here. Wanted something elvish but not too outlandish and that sounded nice :D
