I have used these names for various runthroughs: Darius, Aniken (might have been drinking a tad), Toryne, Luthien, Elysia, and Eugenides. Four and a half of those names are a referance to something or other, mostly because I usually dislike names that sound like I threw a bunch of letters in a hat and then drew them out in random order.
But my main character is always, always named Elias. Elias Shepard, Elias Amell, and I suppose I'll have Elias Hawke, next.
I just like the name, and I especially like that it's typically a male name, and I always assign it to women.
What did you name your character and why?

The one I use as my Avatar I named Airk, inspired and named after Madmardigan's friend Airk Thaughbaer, commander of the armies opposing the villain in the movie.
My Dwarf Noble I call Flidais, a good dwarven name I've used often when playing a Dwarf in RPG's. Other names, for Mages and Elves I just make something up that feels suitable.

Usually whatever first pops into my head. Characters so far:
Human Noble Rogue (M): Eli, just thought it fit.
Human Noble Warrior (M): Malcolm, I tried to make him look like the SA trailer dude, but failed miserably.
Human Noble Warror (F): Riley, just thought it fit.
Human Mage (F): Ginevra, like Ginny from Harry Potter (ha).
Human Noble Warrior (M): Stan (current profile picture...). This guy was SnS, so I modeled him to look like Stan's character from that WoW episode as much as possible.
City Elf Rogue (M): Guillame. One of the Daft Punk dude's names is Guy, which is short for Guillame. Seemed to fit for an assassin. This guy will be my profile pic once he gets more of his final gear on (for some reason I can only update Warden pictures the first time).

Sooo here are my Wardens and why I named 'em this way
My Human Noble is Charity -- My name and I just wanted to do one character that way lol
My Human Mage is Velkrya -- Think Valkyrie (its one MMO name I used)
My City Elf is Zephina -- Another MMO name I frequently use, I don't know where I got it for sure
My Dwarf Noble (and the only male) is Vlard -- couldn't stop thinking about dracula, ya know Vlad lol
My Dalish Elf is Celeste - My grandfathers name
My Dwarf Commoner is Chaeli -- I looked up some random name and changed it (MMO name lol)
My Awakenings Orlesion Warden is Saya -- Yeahhh I'm a bit of an otaku lol

I called my Second Dwarf Commenor Bob.
Mainly since I had no names come to me for 15 minutes, and just typed down Bob.
Also his dog is named Spot.

I like Sabriël and Lyraël, they're main characters in a book I read and I always thought the names sounded kinda elvish.
I like Lothian for a male human noble, I went to Edinburgh this summer and one of the main roads was called Lothian Road and the name just kinda stuck with me.
The character I'm playing with right now (female mage) is called Alessa, just liked the sound of it.

Human noble M rogue Tywyll, used a Welsh dictionary, welsh for darkness, sounded good, and fits with a rogue being stealthy.
City elf F rogue Seren Welsh for star, sounded good, stars look good, she was supposed to... Never completed her character though, and am considering scraping them all, after WH I feel my warden wont effect much, so I may just have one canon (for me) character.

I named my Human Female Noble: Zena the WP! lol, I couldn't fit 'warrior princess' in so I had to shorten it. Of course, I was a warrior and my character was just as bad ass as the original Zena.

My 'canon' character is an elf mage named Aeryc, which is a name I used for the main character of a truly awful story I wrote as a teenager.
Otherwise I go with the default. Though I did just start a human mage named Sarah Jane and am debating with myself whether I should name the dog Mr. Smith or K-9.

Mickael because it's pretty close to Mike? I went with a name that sounded like it could be mideval, but was also close enough to my actual name. Same goes for the other characters I made, I based a mage off of one of my friends named Gabe, the character ended up being named Gavriel.

City Elf Rogue: Loric Tabris. Named him after the mage Loric from the Malazan books.
Human Mage: Deskel Amell. Came up with Deskel on my own, but I'm sure it's in a few books or something, sounds like one of "those" names.

Eithne Cousland
Mariette Amell
Rhet Mahariel
Inyri Tabris

I'll admit it - I used "Roland" (a shortened version of my real name 'Rolando') for my first character, a Human Mage. I used my actual middle name "Arturo" for my Human Male Noble. Yeah, I know..."Arturo Cousland" really doesn't 'fit' but I just say my parents visted Antiva and Mom liked the name when she heard it there.
Vanity, thy name is...Roland? XD

Artalise Surana. First because I have a near obsession with the name "Artemis" for some odd reason (I have a kitten currently named that...)
Secondly, I noticed that "Artalise" and "Alistair" share almost all the same letters except 1 (an "e" in Artalise and an "i" in Alistair) I was going through a biiiiig Alistair fangirl period at the time...So the name stuck, and she's even the staring character in my FF.
