During ME1 i thought the engineer was useless but now on ME2 i played as one during my 3rd playthrough and i have to say that the Engineer is now my favorite class and was wondering who else thought the same thing.
and if you think that the Engineer is a good class also than you should join the only Engineer support group on the site, where called Engineers Unite, and anyone else who just engoys tech based powers.
ENGINEERS UNITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Engineers are the chiz-niz

Engineers are the best just cause the can handle anything and thats the only class i have been able to get through insanity with

Engineers have a power for everything. They aren't the only class that can handle anything though. But yes, a properly setup engineer can be one of the easier classes to play on insanity, and with the Kasumi loyalty mission just becomes even easier from an early point.

they are my favorite class too. that combat drone is very useful and when you have tali and legion in you squad you can spam them like crazy.

My mainShep is a vanguard, but I chose an engineer for my insanity run. Works pretty well

My main Shepard is a soldier and I always argued that soldier is the easiest class to beat a ng+ insanity run.
Well, I played an Engineer after that, and, it's easier and faster.

Barriers?
(Unless you mean with Warp Ammo or Reave as bonus power)

Barriers are rare enough that it isn't a problem IMO, besides, Incinerate does good damage to them anyway.

It's Sentinel that has a power for everything (warp and overload). Incinerate still doesn't one-shot drone barriers AFAIK.

Fair enough. I didn't find barriers to be an issue for me though, even without a damage power specifically for them. I don't even think I ever took a squadmate based on them having a power to address barriers.

If you choose attack drone, it does damage against armor, health and barriers. I prefer exploding drone, though.

i always chose the attack drone just because its alot better distraction and does pretty good damage just team that up with AP or Warp ammo and the engineer is unstopable

I prefer the Sentinel because I don't like the Combat Drone and I love Tech Armor. Other than that, yeah the Engineer is pretty good.

I've been choosing explosive drone on hardcore for my engineer squadmates since they just die after a few seconds anyway, ESPECIALLY if a krogan is nearby. I assume its the same for actually playing an engineer, but I played mine on veteran so it wasn't insta-dead.

My story was pretty similar to the OPs lol...I played, or should I say, "tried" playing an Engineer in ME1 and found it to be rather....well...I dont have the words for how horrible it was. And was still a bit skeptical of them in ME2 even after watching the gameplay videos. So finally, I said to hell with it and gave it another "college go" and Im glad I did. Other than my Soldier/Commando, my Engineer/Demolisher is my favorite class. The 3 classes/Characters that I have set up for ME3 carry overs are a Solder, Engineer, and Vanguard.

Infiltrator with Hacking bonus talent pretty much covers all of the Engineer's skills minus Neural Shock which was hardly useful when you have so many other CC options. Along with Immunity, crazy good DPS with Commando specialization and Sniper rifles. Yeah I'd say the Engineer is ME1 was pretty useless. In fact, I'd argue that with the right build an Infiltrator with Liara and Wrex is the best squad in the first game. But that's not really relevant to the topic at hand; I haven't even played an Engineer in ME2 yet. Moving along now...tonnactus wrote...
