Asari don't have eyebrows. Why does Liara have eyebrows drawn on like an eighty year old human woman? They look fake and distracting on the character. I can only guess it was an effort to make her look more "human" and therefore more "attractive" as a n alien character for a romantic interest.  Other than that marketing reason I can't think of a single story reason why an aloof, young asari scientist who isn't good with social skills might paint eyebrows on herself when she's used to a life of solitary research in remote areas of the galaxy. Bioware could of achieved a similar effect with the speckling pattern on her skin around the brow area.

Liara's fake eyebrows have been the most baffling part of ME 1 and 2 to me. Make them go away...please in ME 3!

Really? The eyebrows were baffling you? I must've been playing it wrong. I was figuring out this whole "Reaper Mass Extinction" plotline.



I don't get this. To be honest, I never realized the eyebrows until a poster pointed it out...

I only noticed this for the first time when I read about it on these forums. People are too nit-picky. I don't mind it one bit.



And who knows? Maybe it is a side effect from being a pureblood or something. Why does it matter so friggen' much? This is similar to people complaining about Kal'Reegar not having an accent like other quarians (all humans have the same accent, am I right?). I don't understand.

If their intention was to make her look more human your right they jsut look silly, most of the Asari have pretty neat patterns no idea why they gave the LI the most boring one.

Wow, way to get inflamed over a computer game character and toss around insults.

Anyway, I just think it makes the character look goofy since no other asari really have them. As far as her mother having them...so two of them have them? Strange, considering Asari don't seem to have body hair. Why would they evolve eyebrows? It's just a bad character design in my book.

Let me explain:
The devs have been pushing Shepard in to a relationship with Liara, hence why she's the only Character out of all past and present Squadmates who *SPOILER*. The use of eyebrows was an attempt to subconsciously get players to treat her as more human in her appearence and this be more inclined to see her as the more viable romance option.



Happy? Or are there more conspiracy theories that need to be said, like maybe she's actually a human who's had extensive reconstruction to appear alien.

Maybe they are facial tribal traits since Benezia has them as well and Liara's mom was Benezia.

Liara's eyebrows are special though. Every human has a hair texture for their eyebrows. Liara has solid line eyebrows that suggests they're not made of hair. Asari don't seem to have eyebrows or any hair for that matter. 

The devs probably put eyebrows on her to make her look more human, but I've always wondered what the in-game explanation for them was. Is Liara herself trying to look more human? Or is it a family marking that just happens to resemble human eyebrows? How does she apply them, are they penciled on?

Some asari have a series of dots, some have a marking-less face, some apparently have eyebrows of a sort. The whole "pointless evolution" argument is useless because someone could just as easily say something similar referring to humans and freckles.

Hmm, Asari have eyelashes? I've never noticed. I suppose it could be a result of using the same basic model for humans and Asari though. 

I still wonder why Liara has them in the first place.

I think she has eyebrows so you can see her facial expressions better. Or maybe they thought not having eyebrows was to alien and no one would want to romance her. I don't know.
