She isn't the only one. Benezia has them too, so does one Asari from Mass Effect Galaxy (Bata). Some have dotted ones, like Rana Thanoptis. And the ones who bear facial markings mostly have markings that serve as eyebrows, see Shiala. So painting eyebrows seems to be rather normal for asari (or are all those markings natural?).

Maybe most asari just shave or wax their eyebrows. Who knows what their physiology or cultural norms are. Or maybe only super hot asari like Liara and Benezia get to have eyebrows or maybe it's a pureblood thing. My point is that unless it's canon, there's no reason to assume Liara's eyebrows are fake. Also, you're ruining Liara for me!

Aria has some facial patterns that form something sort of like eyebrows. I treat them more like tattoos than eyebrows.

Asari don't have eyebrows. Why does Liara have eyebrows drawn on like an eighty year old human woman? They look fake and distracting on the character. I can only guess it was an effort to make her look more "human" and therefore more "attractive" as a n alien character for a romantic interest.  Other than that marketing reason I can't think of a single story reason why an aloof, young asari scientist who isn't good with social skills might paint eyebrows on herself when she's used to a life of solitary research in remote areas of the galaxy. Bioware could of achieved a similar effect with the speckling pattern on her skin around the brow area.

Liara's fake eyebrows have been the most baffling part of ME 1 and 2 to me. Make them go away...please in ME 3!

Asari take genetic material from a non-asari mate. Even in the instance of purebloods, it is unlikely that there every generation of their ancestry is pureblooded. Thus as one poster said they all end up looking different. Mix up some genes with humans enough and maybe you start getting eyelash looking markings or actual eyelashes. A little Turian love? Scales on the chin perhaps? But, still, really? Is it that big an issue? Give her some Shep genes or don't, but come on, man, let's let them make ME3 awesome and not waste time on something like this.

I've never been happy with Liara's appearance, I don't know why but looking at her just annoys me. To be perfectly honest I have never noticed her eyebrows, all I know for certain is that she looks different from other Asari, like there is somthing off about her. Earlier today I was playing ME2 at the bit where you first arrive on Illium and Shepard is reunited with Liara and I could not stop looking at her face, her face is one shade of blue but when you get up to the point where her hair line is supposed to be ( where the tenatcles begin I guess ) her complexion becomes very fair, almost white and this bugs me alot as well.
