I don't think many people question the sole idea of studying the tech - just the idea of Cerberus doing it.

True, what little we know about them isn't very convincing.

given how much TIM lies to you and how the most evidence you have is "we're nice, trust us"

TIM's 'lies' mostly come in the form of lies of omission and suggestive reasoning (IE, letting the other draw a mistaken conclusion.). Actual untruths are rare.

Trust what TIM says, not what he implies, and you'll be fine. (Why anyone was surprised at the Collector Ship trap is well beyond me.)

I do not think he has any aversion to lying outright. I simply think sometimes implications and omissions serve him better or just as well. But when he needs to lie I do not think he has any problem with it.

And I shall trust neither what he says or what he implies. I think that would be his advice as well. You shouldn't be surprised at his Collector ship deception, no. I mean, he's him. Caution is the best policy concerning TIM.

Caution and wariness.

TIM is a ruthless BAST%$# he cares about power his power, he claims to be humankinds interest, but he risked the lives of people that he said they could trust him. All for some data that could have been gotten without using a trap. TIM is a fool that is simply power hungry. He cares about himself and he even said he would stop at nothing for his agenda. Whatever that may be.

Ooh. Now I must wait for Shand and Dean to discover this post.

Why? It's nothing that hasn't be talked to death fifty times before with much better support and articulation.

Yes but this time you're battling your doppelganger! Just look! It'll be a showdown, like Jet Li vs Jet Li in the One!

Don't rob my excitement from me!

I'd say I'd rob you of something else, but I'd probably be arrested.

You know what you'd probably enjoy far more? One of Shand and my private PM arguments.

Honestly I blame the writers, Shepard is a bad arse but a group like Cerberus would have no trouble taking care of him/her.

Time and time again I've seen Bioware write-off challenges for simplicity.

...?

No, wait, don't tell me. I just watched Borat and I'm out of mind bleach.

It is very cruel of you to keep these arguments private. Cruel, I say.

I wouldn't trust TIM with my life or with my deepest secrets. I would not trust him not to put me in harms way or to show any kind of loyalty to me.

I will however trust him to do one thing; to protect and advance human interests.

That means I trust him to do everything in his power to stop the Reapers.

But is it unusual? That's the question.

I'd give some tantelizing snippets, but that might be violating privacy concerns...

It also says that TIM doesn't trust you that he sent you into the collector ship blind. After all he could say that they found a collector ship, it's definitely a trap but this is the only way to find their home world.. good hunting Shepard.

Post anything you want about it. I didn't say anything there that I wouldn't say in public if prompted.

You know I'd forgotten about that little conversation.

Hear that, Dean. I've got clearance.

I wouldn't trust him to feed my hamster. I'd come back and the poor thing would be lying open on a surgical table, little mini husk spike toothpick things stabbed through it.

"This is for the advancement of humanity, Shepard. I told you, whatever it takes."

"BOO, NO!!!"

Nah, it's funnier to just tease her. I don't debate and tell (so to speak).

We really should have another one one of these days, though. Maybe after Overlord comes out.

"For the advancement of humanity" means basicaly nothing and everything according to TIM. "Whatever it takes Shepard". Perhaps the space hamster is actualy TIM? That would make sense, a perfect way of keeping an eye on his investment.

Problem is, those "human interests" can be defined in almost any way and he is just one man.

Hell, even being  converted into a Reaper is "ascension". A good thing, yes?

I think it is unlikely that he'll decide humanity should become Reapers.

Unlikely - though not impossible, see Saren - but the point is he can decide anything he wants.

Saren was being indoctrinated by Sovereign.
