So far it's my easiest playthrough, and I only have trouble on collector missions.

Take reave as a bonus power and evovle it to area reave. It might help you out of those tricky situations on collector missions.

Vanguards are fun. However from my experience the easiest playthrough is usually the last class you play on insanity out of sheer experience. I saved the adept and engineer for last and they were my fastest playthroughs with the least deaths.

It's a biotic power that hit's instantly when you cast it. It deals double damage to armor and barriers and leaches health from unprotected organic enemies.

Off the top of my head, it does 40 damage per second over 4 seconds and can be evolved to increase the duration (which in turn would increase the damage dealt). With the x2 multiplier against armor and barriers, it becomes one of the best defense stripping powers in the game.

It is similar to warp in damage that it does to barrier and armor.  It doesn't do a warp explosion.  Instead it it drains enemy health and transfers it to you.  Area reave does that to a group within 3 meters.  It is a biotic power so vanguard benefits because of the cooldown.  If you want I can give you my vanguard stats set up that works best for me.

Heavy reave does more damage to a single target.  Area reave does damage to multiple targets within a 3 meter area.

Even better than Kasumi's shadow strike?

So are you guys saying I should abandon slam and use reave instead? I think I'm gonna do something similar to Highdragonslayer

I would.  You already have lift for warp bombs.  Reave incapacitates enemies for a couple of seconds when they have no defenses.

I use shadow strike as a finishing move.  Reave is effective from barrier to armor to health the entire time.

Lol, uh no. That power does around 500 damage max level without considering the x2 mutliplier it gets against all defenses.

But it also has a long base cooldown and shephard can't use it him/herself.

Gotta take what you can get. Reave is a superior option in any situation I can think of over Slam.

Having Samara with area reave, Shepard with area reave and pull field, and Thane with unstable warp is a great anti collector squad (though that only happens in the suicide mission). Spamming area reave and hitting them with pull field followed instantly by unstable warp is just.... a sight to behold.

Why Thane over  Miranda with her unstable warp and her squad bonus? Not saying Miranda is better, but just honestly curious to how other people play the game.

For his sniper and drell assasin (50% weapons damage).  I take Miranda and Garrus whenever there is going to be enemies with shields as well as barrier.

True... except I said I take Samara and Thane for collector missions (mainly the suicide mission).  Though I'm not against taking Jack with squad warp ammo on the Collector ship mission.

Area reave plus Mordin's area cryo blast = lolhusks. His cryo blast only has a 4.5 second cooldown when it's evolved and cryo insta-kills husks once they're frozen. You can pretty much follow up every reave you do with his cryo.

Here's a golden tip against husks:

Use the Eviscerator shotgun (or the Claymore if you feel comfortable with it);

Get on melee range, hit the husk with a melee attack, aim fot his legs, shoot = dead husk.

Make sure you hit with a melee attack before shotting.

Do this and you can kill a whole room of husks with almost no effort.
