Try reinstalling the game.

When I was first playing, I had my hypertreading disabled on my core i7, when I renabled it I have had very very few crashes. But thanks for the suggestion.

I am having this exact same problem. I have reinstalled the game but it did not solve the issue. I never had this problem before. It happened when I reinstalled ME2 to play through it again.
I have tried the following:
Reinstalled the game
Reinstalled the DLCs I have
Started the game directly via folder and not through Origin
Downloaded and installed the latest patch
Started a new character using no DLCs
Nothing of the above helped.
Any suggestions?
Edit:
My gear is
Windows 7 x64
4Gb RAM
Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 (2.40GHz)
ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024 MB

The problem is now fixed.
What I had to do was uninstall the game (again), then let Origin download the game while I wasn't using the PC. Seems Origin got a few files corrupted while it was downloading the first two times.
Cheers
