I destroyed the graybox, under the assumption the contents of the greybox will be revealed in ME3 anyway (kinda like Chorban's discovery of the keeper thing, even though we already knew). At least that's what I'm hoping for!

Interestingly enough, I am at this moment at the part where you tell Kasumi what to do with the greybox.

Never really looked at it after the first time and forgot what was in it...I'm going to keep the graybox now. OP has opened my eyes!

My question is when on the derelict reaper i got the impression that the thing was try to resurrect itself ....

thru the humans it indoctrine.

Given that it Was trying to do that.

Could it be that the Leviathan of Dis that the Batarians removed had them do it do to with the first stages of the Indoctrine program ?

And if that did happen How long would it take to restore that one Reaper to running order ?

The Leviathan of Dis.... the name given to a gigantic corpse that disappeared from a crater on Jartar in 2163. It is believed to be the remains of a genetically engineered starship and its age was originally placed at nearly a billion years old.

However there was little time to study it. Not long after its discovery by a batarian survey team, a batarian dreadnought visited the Dis system, after which the Leviathan mysteriously disappeared. The batarians have since strenuously denied that the Leviathan existed at all. They become even more vocal when showed documentation of the Leviathan by salarian researchers before its disappearance.

perhaps this is what were seeing... even if its not.. theres a big living ship somewhere out there.. probably with a batarian crew..

The problem with the grey box picture is that it shows the appendages as being attached ALONG the WHOLE length of the body. In the reapers the appendages all appear to be at the front end and NOT along the length. Its why I think that that first pic is not one of a reaper.

What do you mean? All you see in the greybox picture is the front section of the reaper; the long tail section is cut off by the top of the image.

If you match up the light patterns you can see this even more clearly. In the top picture of Sovereign the "enclosed square" part of the pattern matches up roughly with the end of the front "leg" section of the body and the beginning of the "tail" section, as does the pattern in the image from the greybox.

Image IPB

Ok take a look at the 'arms'. They are at the front arrayed around the front end. The grey box picture shows them arrayed along the length on either side. The underside lighting patter does not matter. This is a reaper. Whatever that is in the grey box picture is NOT a reaper.

(Borrowed the pic from the motivational thread as I do not have a screenshot from ME1)

BTW there should be vids of Sovereign and basically when it arrives at the Citadel its arms are folded in front of its 'face'. The thing in the grey box does not have long enough arms to be able to do that. And from what little we see of reapers in ME2 they all seem to conform to the general pattern of arms at the front arrayed around the front end and NOT arrayed along the length of the sides.

You know cuz game developers NEVER alter images or appearances of people, places or things from game to game.  I mean, the Citadel was TOTALLY the EXACT same as the first game.......

I hate to see what a batarian husk looks like if they attempted to reanimate a reaper!  Unless it was a rouge reaper... or if it also has something to do with Klencory's beings of light.

First off, thanks to Kaiser Shepard for those pix. I've never seen this thread before.

Second, I told Kasumi to keep the greybox specifically because I went "Whoa! That was a Reaper!" when she opened the memories.

Third, I agree with those who think Cerberus still has close links with the Alliance top brass, and that this "going rogue" garbage just gives the Alliance plausible denial.

Cerberus was able to build the Normandy 2 because the Alliance gave them the blueprints, and EDI is exactly what the illegal AI research by the Alliance in the book was aiming at.

You need to read the 3rd ME book; ME: Retribution, Cerberus gets their but handed to them, or at the very least put aback a good deal.

There were parts in the book that TIM gets *itched slapped; I kept thinking, finally you *astard!  Also shows what Cerberus does w/ Reaper tech that involves human expermentation, stupid, stupid Cerberurs & bio-synthetic expermentation (see Overlord DLC as well!)  Reaper tech is meant to anaylized like crazy 1st then recreated, not injected into the bloodstream!

Read a synopsis of the ploy on the ME Wiki. It says the Alliance is so full of  Cerberus sympathizers that human opponents of TIM have to turn to the Turians.

Amen to that!

Unless there is an immediate danger involved, the whole, "I'm sacrifice millions to save billions" is bull crap; I had the sole survivor background.  Never forget Akuze!

Assuming OP is right, that sure would explain why Alliance high command "swooped in like vultures" on everything Shepard said as soon as he died.

Good call!

Personally, I feel like this might very well be the hardest decision in the game aside from the one in Mordin's mission:

-On a personal level, you have to choose between Kasumi thinks she wants and what is probably better for her (I, for one, would prefer her not being stuck in the past). Then there's also the chance of it getting her in trouble, she seems like a nice enough girl to not wish that sort of thing upon her.

-On a political level, I don't feel like having to blackmail the Alliance anytime soon, nor do I want to take care of any potential enemy in such an honorless way. But then again, it's a goddamn Reaper...

From a metagaming perspective, however, I know that whatever the hell was in there will get revealed at some point, for foreshadowing has never been more obvious. The eventual results might come back to bite me in the ass, though.

Save the girl, lose the galaxy? So be it.

I just hope decisions in ME2 dlc will make at least a verbal mention in ME3, hoping for a sidequest or a major story decision (I always keep the graybox; rather have it & not need it than not have it at all).

Thanks, Kaiser Shepard.

As I said before, when Kasumi opened those memories and I saw a Reaper, any chance of asking her to destroy it disappeared for me. Even if you give great weight to Kasumi's safety, no one will be safe if Shep doesn't beat the Reapers.

I only read the thread creators comment and I only want to add to your story. We all know that Anderson went to a secret alliance facility with Saren a highly classified mission. the one were Anderson failed and was rejected out of the specters. I think adding to your story Anderson was investigating the destroyed facility your talking about. Also in the Kasume Download Her partner found information that would get the Alliance in serious trouble. Maybe some information about the study's of sovereign were in his gray box that the Alliance got from the research base before Sovereign got loose.

As I first looked at that photo, yes to me it looked like a Reaper.

On closer look, that whole body part, (minus the legs part) looks like the Normandy 2.
Check out the very bottom center of the shot, it looks like it has two flaps on it facing down...just like the Normandy.
Most of the curves and arches matches the Normandy.

My theroy, is that Cerberus working with the Alliance, rebuilt the Normandy using Soverign and human tech.
EDI makes sence as well, since they needed an AI to run the whole ship. It also explains how they restricted EDI
from gaining access to the entire ship at once.

This proves that Cerberus was never a "rogue group" from the Alliance. Also since your given the option of saving the base instead of destroying it, it shows that they were not finished making the "reaper ship". Having the base would most likely contain detailed info on reapers from many races.

On the shape of Sovereign, he has BOTH the five tentacles on the front AND six bug like legs that go along the side of his body behind that. You can clearly see this in his holo image on Virmire:
Image IPB

The image from Kasumi's greybox looks like it's of Sovereign's (or another Reaper of the same "model") underside, between the second set of legs behind the front/head set.

I was just about to ask if someone could post a screenshot of Sovereign twirling his mustache on Vermire. Good work.

Here's another, from a more frontal view:

Again, clearly shows the second, smaller set of legs behind his... "head"?
