I think quest is bugged:
I accepted Rogek's quest 'precious metals' and paid him the 50 gold for the lyrium but he WALKED AWAY... (I did not threaten him or said anything bad to him) I thought this was OK as i would find him later, so I went to the circle tower and sold it to the mage for 57 gold, so far so good, BUT now I can't get the 20 gold Rogek promised as a reward as I cant find him back in dust town! He is just not there, I think this quest is bugged! Help!:crying:

I'm pretty sure he's found in the abandoned house at the edge of Dust Town. I'm not too sure though. I don't remember that quest clearly.

I've had this happen to me one time.

Exit dusttown.    Save your game, then reload it and go to dusttown again.  He should be right there, where he was before.  At least that's how I solved the problem in my game.

Nope, he still ain't there, remember how he walked away? I have a feeling he was not supposed to... It's official this quest is bugged.

I've played through 8 times on the PC and have never encountered this problem.

i did that quest only once but after i bought it and agreed to deliver, he didn't walk away, he was just standing there with his friends near that doorway. when i came back later, he was still in that same doorway.

maybe you told him to buzz off instead of agreeing to help him? i don't know.....

Encountered this one too - agreed to deliver the lyrium and he went away :-| - redoing this (same answers) in an old save game and he did stay - annoying - i wonder if i really want to to the dust town again *sigh*

This just happened to me. Couldn't figure out what happened to him. Searching online didn't help much. I got plenty of save games to go back to but which one? I got the quest early on in orzammer but finished orzammer before getting back to it. Would be really annoying to have to redo 20 hours of play if I had to reload a really old save game.

Anyway, I did find a way around this. I downloaded the dragon age toolset (free download) and used it to edit my latest save game.

1. After you open your save game file expand SAVEGAME_AREALIST. This gives a numbered list of every area you've every been too.
2. Find the area for the slums. The one you want has a tag of orz400ar_slums. It'll probably be towards the end since you're probably still in orzammer or haven't moved on very far. It was entry 102 for me.
3. Find Rogek in the area creatures list. Expand SAVEGAME_AREA_CREATURES. Find the entry that has TEMPLATERESREF set to orz400cr_rogek.
4. Set SAVEGAME_OBJECT_ACTIVE to 1. This will make him visible again. For me he showed up near the slums house.
5. Set SAVEGAME_CREATE_INTERACTIVE to 1. This will make him so him can click him and finish the quest.

OMG! Thank you  GothicNoir!! This was exactly what I've been looking for for days! I was getting so frustrated that I couldn't complete this quest.

Hmm...I would have guessed that he lied to you, stole your money and ran off with it. He always struck me as a pretty shady character. I wouldn’t know, I never had enough gold by this point to initiate the quest.
