1) After playing Dragon Age for a while(15min-1hr) my mouse becomes completely worthless. I can not click on anything, I can zoom in and out via the mouse wheel and move the cursor but nothing else, the cursor stays in the dragon age cursor art. When I zoom out all the way the cursur becomes an open hand with arrows on the top, bottom, left, and right, and when I try to move the mouse the screen moves with it. Once I exit Dragon Age the same thing occurs, where I can not click on anything, it is as if Dragon Age or another full screen program is still up while I'm trying to acess windows behind it. I can still use the mouse buttons to make blue selection boxes on my desktop background but that's it. The only way I CAN use my mouse is to use my keyboard to bring up Task Manager and switch to whatever window I want to use. Also randomly when browsing the internet(on Firefox) the scroll icon appears as if I have just clicked the middle mouse button when I havn't. This has happened twice and only while playing Dragon Age

2) The only way I can reproduce this is by playing Dragon Age

3) I discribed the steps to work around it in the first paragraph

4) I don't have any visual aid

5) I only have Dragon Age: Origins and I am playing in the US

Ignore my following two posts, I have compiled all the information in this post

Processor Manufacturer: Dell
Processor Name / Type: Intel Core2 Duo CPU
Processor Core Speed:  3.0 GHz
Operating System / Service Pack:
Vista 64-bit
System RAM: 2.0 GB
Video (GPU) Manufacturer: Nvidia
Video Card Model: Dual Nvida GeForce GTS 240
Video Card Driver Version: 8.17.11.9745
Video Card onboard RAM: 1790 MB
Sound Card Manufacturer: Realtek
Sound Card Model: Realtek High Definition Audio   I'm not sure if this is the correct name, I'm just putting down what is says on device manager

Very simple.  You want information,  first you provide enough information to actually do something with.  You are asking about the PC version, right?

Including adequate information in a problem report, DA O:

Nothing you have told us sounds at all familiar to me, personally, and although your component run-down was incomplete, nothing you did include gave me any hints.  We have seen many odd results from assorted mouse pointer modifications, with "Mouse Trails" being the most incompatible one of them all.  Have you enabled *ANY* special feature in the Windows mouse control function at all?

Are you using any mouse drivers other than the one in Windows itself?

P. S.  The next time someone asks you about your hardware, make a bookmark ("Favorite") out of this, so you will know how to learn what your system has in it (you omitted the driver information):

No, the mouse has stayed the same since I bought the computer.
I'm not that great at computers, so I wouldn't know if I am using any mouse drivers besides the one in Windows. But all I did with my mouse was plug it in, that's all.

Sorry if the video driver information was incorrect, I just put what was on my video card's properties.

If you have another mouse, try that to see if the problem goes away.
Check your batteries
Try a different (solid color) mousepad
Try uninstalling then reinstalling your mouse software
Update your mouse drivers

My toolbar slides up and down and when I put my mouse next to it, when the problem is occuring it does not. The toolbar sliding is related to the position of the arrow on my screen. Would any of these possible solutions help that? Since the solutions you proposed seem to(to me at least) relate to the reaction of my interaction with the mouse, not the reaction of the pointer with the screen.

It almost sounds like something's wrong with the USB port your mouse is plugged into... Have you tried changing where it's plugged in?

Yep, all those can affect how a mouse moves. The first thing to do is to try a different mouse. A dying mouse can behave the way you are describing.
If its an optical mouse the mousepad can make a huge difference.
If its a USB mouse, changing to a different USB port can make a huge difference (real USB port, not PS/2 with adapter).
If its a USB mouse/keyboard combo, the keyboard can interfere with the mouse.
If its a USB mouse, the power it draws may be too much when the video card is drawing more power under heavy use (check out the other threads for testing hardware if you think this could be the problem).
Whatever type of mouse it is, updating drivers may fix the problem.

Without more information anything we say here is purely guesswork about what your problem might be.

I went to the control panel the button that allowed the drivers to be updated was faded out.

I tried changing the usb port and nothing new happened

I've played much higher performance games and had no issues

This mouse is less then 6 months old, I used my previous mouse that was the same model for about 3-4 years.

This is a wireless USB mouse with no connection to the keyboard

Once again, I have no issues clicking or selecting anything, the mouse is fully responsive, the issue is that...

It is as if Dragon Age(or another full screen game) is running and in full screen and I'm trying to access programs behind it. But it is not running, the computer just thinks that there is a program always in front of the program I am trying to access.

Okay, let me give an example. Open your internet browser then run Dragon Age. Now, only using your mouse, try clicking on things in the internet browser WHILE Dragon Age is up.

This is my problem, the only difference is that Dragon Age is NOT up.

Like I said before, I got Mass Effect, and if I get a break when my computer starts to act normal I can start it up, once I do start it up I can play it without any issues regarding the mouse.

Hmm. Silly question here, but did you change the batteries in your mouse if it requires them? And it almost sounds like Dragon Age has a caching issue... I wonder if there's a way to dump the cache for loaded games on your PC.

The batteries in the mouse are fine.

I don't know anything about caches so I wouldn't know.

It seems I was probably being an idiot. I closed all programs and unnecessary processes and the problem has seemed to been fixed along with the issue that lasted after I closed Dragon Age *knocks on wood*

Thank you all for trying to help, the assistance is much appreciated
