i would LOVE to play dragon age in a Thedas as a wide open, explorable, near-seamless, co-op/mp romp that allowed grouping with friends up to 4-6 players... and maybe a few hub areas, not unlike phantasy star online.
im really surprised that no one else has tried another PSO like RPG...
but if we had a DA MP version similar to PSO i would be stoked!!!
leave the combat and everything else the way it is because its all real time and build from there.
who wouldnt want to join up with their wife/husband, real life best friend, brother or sister and journey through Thedas looking for religious artifacts or diving into a long forgotten mystic lake that held secrets to healing from the chantry long ago...
or donning your leather armor to sneak into Orlais to plunder treasures once stolen during the occupation of Fereldan with a friend who happens to have found an NPC in game the other day who sold him the map to find this keep we seek...
i want to travel west towards the mountains while the trees bristle in the breeze, water glistening as i walk around OR THROUGH (please make water interact able...) and the sun setting while my companion readies a few defensive spells because Fereldan can be a **** to traverse at night...
to just say "MMO", whatever, semantics... but i want to experience the world of DA as an adventure with a friend. and i want to experience the land as much as leveling up, looting treasure and combating darkspawn...

I just wonder how this game could work as MMO .
I think it coud just copy some form WoW ( end - level ) + some new ideas. All others thinkgs like game play etc looks perfect.
I might to say this could be best game ever! single player + MMO.
To have this game online I could pay 80 eur / month without and doubts.
Is there any rumors about online experience ?
Market is already saturated with Swords / Sorcery Fantasy MMO's. World of Warcraft holds a huge market share. Bioware has started development into a Star Wars MMO if that's your thing.

Who cares about a MMO, I just want Co-op Like NWN had. Playing with my friends is all this game really needs to be nearly perfect.
This ^^ Co-op with persistent worlds like NWN using Dragon Age engine would be awesome

Just the NWN co-op option, in combination with the toolset that would be more than fine.

How is the gameplay perfect for an MMO?
because it plays almost exactly like a game called WoW and most other MMO's out there...minus the pausing it's almost a carbon-copy...ability/spell cooldowns..mana....use of a "tank" "healer" "dps"...
what part of the gameplay isn't like MMO's (hence being good for it?)
Just because you don't want to see an MMO made doesn't mean you need to be stupid with comments like this...fact is the gameplay mirrors MMO's..whether you like them or not.

There are fantasy MMOs aplenty out there. Bioware's about to do its own MMO, but based in the KOTOR universe. Go play that.
You want to play a PW game? Go out, buy NWN2, join a PW server. Done.
I'm not against them adding basic multiplayer to Dragon Age (for let's say 4 person co-op play), but as we all know and Bio has said so many times before, there's only so many "zots" they have for adding features. Why I don't support this is I'm afraid it could take away development time/resources from other features that could be added to make it a better SP experience... and I'm sorry, that's what I care about more.

I prefer that Bioware concentrate on what they do well - single player RPGs. If they work on an MMORPG, it'd mean they'd have less time and resources for single player. Co-op mode would be nice though, forming a party with friends to play through the campaign. I remember BG2 having the possibility.magnify wrote...
Dragon Age: Origins as a MMO? No thanks. But a MMO in the Dragon Age world perhaps. Still miss multiplayer though, would be great to be able to play coop.
pretty much this...
however I AM a fan of MMO's...just need something NEW..the current ones are tired and old....not saying I'm convinced I'd want them to focus on a Dragon Age: MMO...but if you're a fan of MMO's you can't deny it's a good setting for it and has potential.
that said...Bio is already doing a Star Wars MMO..meaning we won't see another KotOR..which makes me a sad panda.....so in that light...I'd rather not see a DA:MMO..as we'd probably never see another SPRPG or DA:O-2

Another vary valid point. Yes, the KOTOR MMO probably means they will never make any more KOTOR SPRPG titles, hence there never will be a KOTOR 3. Which is entirely too bad because although I hated the truncated ending of KOTOR 2, I otherwise would have played a third in a heartbeat, but there never will be one.
It just seems to me MMOs are taking over everywhere. I also love the Star Trek sci-fi setting and I've played all kinds of games in that setting -- shooters and space strategy. Yet no one has ever done a Trek-based SPRPG. Come on? Wouldn't it be cool to have "redshirts" that really were "redshirts"? To watch the team's medical officer run over and say "He's dead Jim?" Also, Obsidian was supposed to be working on a SPRPG in the Aliens universe (although the dev. comments to any suggestions that they throw in AvP material were usually roundly denounced); that's been axed too.
And so now they're doing a Star Trek MMO ... sigh.

um..the Star Trek MMO is out..and has been for a couple months now...it was done by Cryptic..and it's the most shallow, boring, no context, unfaithful ot the source material (everything is about blowing **** up...and killing anything that moves)..it's an abortion....but a ST:MMO is already out

Well yea, that's where the moneys at. Blizzard with their WOW is making an absolute killing.

I just hope it doesn't kill off the rest of gaming. It's so profitable I'm afraid companies are abandoning doing other types of games. Yes, I play the biggest MMO, but I've never had any interest in any others, and probably never would have tried it if not "pressured" into it by some friends who had me join their guild (that promptly dissolved a year later and I've never rejoined another since).
There's so many things about the genre I find ... irritating. Mainly, the annoying things other people playing the game at the same time as you, do.
The other is I am a "char hacker". I admit it. I like to tweak, mess around, customize. When you play an MMO your char is locked on the server tighter than a drum. It's one of my least favorite aspects.

Those are my guidlines for people I hang with in RL, I don't enjoy being forced to listen to the slack jawed mutants that make up the majority of humanity these days. WTB natural selection, to put it in MMO terms.

All in all, I just don't get the point, of the OP, nothing in DA is particularly suited for an mmo.

Lore argument is pretty much a hogwash considering Bioware themselves wrote the lore and can change it anytime they please. And if DA became a MMO it would be vastly different from the single player universe.
That said, bring on NWN system where players can create their own unique persistent worlds. Too many swords and sorcery fantasy MMO's already in the marketplace.

Bioware can change the lore any time they want, but that's part of the problem. World of Warcraft, for instance, repeatedly retcons lore and completely alters characters for the sake of the demands of an MMO. One of the things I love about Dragon Age is the huge amount of internally consistent lore. If they go through and hack that all up just for an MMO, then it would become essentially meaningless.Domyk wrote...

I'm not completely opposed to some kind of multiplayer, but the core reason I love Dragon Age is the characterization, story, and lore. None of those are really present in multiplayer. I continue to worry that single player games that focus on immersing you in a world are becoming rarer, and I'd rather not see one of the best examples of that kind of gaming go away.

Well regardless of the players point of view there is a ton of money involved with successful MMO titles. bioware as a business will be looking at all avenues for revenue as they should. We will see how their Star Wars KOTOR MMO fits in with the marketplace.

someone makes a duplicate thread and low and behold someone like you comes along telling them not to clutter the forums and to learn to use the ****ing search function and USE the threads already out there on the subject.
someone actually does JUST THAT..and people like you **** and whine that they used an old thread.

Hey there,
I'm new to these forums but I am noticing a LOT of these threads are like months old.
So if you're a regular, tell me: Are these forums just slow-moving?
Or is there is necromancer running around casting Raise Thread?
Also, OP: World of DrageAgeCraft. I would love it but only because I
