You can go through all of ME1 without ever recruiting Garrus... ever...
But he is still in ME2...
So, I'm pretty sure everyone will be back in ME3...

I'd really love the full compliment in ME3.
Maybe not Wrex, as he has important work to do, and we have Grunt for the squadie. So long as Tuchanka is visitable from the get go it's all good imo.

I don't care who returns as squadies in ME3 just as long as Grunt is included. He is the highlight of the entire game for me, it wouldn't be the same without him fighting by my side.

My favourite squad members are Jack and Thane instead. And I'm sure there are plenty of Miranda and Tali fans out there too. That's the point: ME2 characters are too popular to be simply swept under the carpet because they can die in the suicide mission.

I feel like it would weaken the entire series if your old friends wouldn't by your side in the final battle. In what good book/movie does the hero's companions abandon him at his darkest hour (well, I'm a sure a couple, but in what good book/movie of this same genre)
I don't care if we have to start over at level 1, but it would make the whole playthrough a lot less epic if we have to get ANOTHER new team

I agree. After so much effort to build a team for the suicide mission, helping them with their problems and emerging victorious from the collector base, it wouldn't make much sense for them to leave you to find new people with the reaper fleet aproaching.
