Species names are not capitalized. Groups are capitalized. Are you talking about the asari as a species? Are you talking about the Asari as a social entity?
I support the entire crew returning as squadmates in ME3.

I'd pick the Reaper too, but considering it seems like all the squadmate recruitment is out of the way, there's no reason why there shouldn't be some significant squadmate-based side missions.Pacifien wrote...
Development time will hinder the process. Length of story will hinder the process. If it came between quality time with Thane or quality time with a Reaper, I'll pick the Reaper. I rather like Thane, but I like the overall story more.

I was thinking of doing another version of that banner, with coloured silhouettes - but I don't know what colours to do for all the squadmates.
I'm thinking Garrus would be dark blue, Liara would be light blue, Tali would be purple and Ashley would be pink, but I'm not too sure what colours to use for the others. So I'd appreciate suggestions!
Thanks for adding my banners to the OP! You spelled my username wrong, though
So far all of those make sense. I'd suggest the following:
Kaidan: Onyx armor colored (only party member besides Shepard to start with Onyx armor)
Wrex: Deep red (his plate color)
Jacob: Black or gold (Cerberus colors, which he's the only party member to start with)
Miranda: White
Jack: A sort of dark auburn (works with her makeup and tattoos which are kind of red and kind of brown)
Thane: Green (duh!)
Mordin: Kind of a fleshy gamboge
Grunt: Sort of an earthy fleshy yellow (if that makes any sense). Or orange (given his loyalty armor).
Samara: Some kind of shade of blue - not sure
Morinth: Greener shade of the above
Legion: Steel gray

Jack. Awesome character. Well written. Deep. Complex. Get to see growth over the course of the story. I fetl BW took a lot of risks with such a character. And it totally paid off. Just not my favorite LI. People that damaged do NOT tend to have normal relationships in the course of a few weeks or a month. That's the only problem I have with it. I do have a thing for wounded birds so I'll make her an LI on one of my playthroughs.

Lets turn Mass Effect into Jagged Alliance instead. Pick the squadmates from out of fifty choices, most returning. But depending on circumstances you should watch out when you hire your squadmates as some of them can die on other missions they have been contracted on.
Also it would have an "old dossier" like Jagged Alliance that would detail your dead comrades.
Turn it into Pokémon instead! 151 squadmates to start from!

Hm. I'll admit that I'm torn on this. I love Ash; she's got a very "go get 'em" kind of attitude that I really like.
For ME2, it's a tossup between Miranda and Jack, but I'll have to go with Miranda. It takes her quite a bit to open up to Shepard, but the fact that she was willing to quit Cerberus to stay with Shepard (at the risk of her sister no less) shows a lot about her character. She'll throw everything she's based her life on away just to do what she believes is right.

Garrus <-> Tali (The Veterans)
Jacob <-> Miranda (The Loyalists)
Thane <-> Jack (The... Dying?)
They kept the number of available romances between genders equal for Mass Effect 2, so they'd probably do the same for Mass Effect 3.
As for who I romanced - no one, really. Sometimes on a playthrough I'll play hard-to-get and then turn the squadmate down at the last second.
Good night, Jacob.

There's a number of reasons for this. First of all, I thought Garrus was one of the best written characters in the first game to begin with. He, along with Tali and Wrex, were definitely my favorite out of the bunch (though I loved em all) because they seemed to add something beyond just the usual LI trappings. Garrus had his earnest desire to do good that was complicated by his cowboy cop tendencies, Tali has her pilgrimage and unique culture. and Wrex had his poetic warrior tendencies that showed a surprising layer of depth when you pulled back his gruff exterior.
However, if it were not for ME2, Wrex probably would have beaten Garrus because I felt that of the bunch, Wrex was the most developed as a character (his Virmire scene in particular earns him a lot of points in my books). But in ME2, Garrus just went a grade above the curve.
Of all the characters, it is Garrus who most clearly is impacted by Shepard's existence on both a personal and professional level. Whether or not you recruit him in ME1, Garrus is driven by Shepard's example to become a vigilante hero on Omega and he's clearly relieved to see you there when you rescue him from the merc siege. He's taken Shepard's lessons to heart and chosen to do good where he can and though it would have been nice to see a little bit more paragon/renegade impact on him in ME2, what we did see showed that Shepard was Garrus' rock.
Of all the male characters in ME2, Garrus most concretely has a bond with Shepard that cannot be broken. He's Shepard's brother from another mother and, when the **** hits the fan, he'll always be the man I turn toward to be my Shepard's wingman.

Wrex was extremely awesome in ME1, immediately my favourite. I even named my hamster after him. He's still awesome in ME2, not on your squad anymore, but I like it that way. He's really doing an important job on Tuchanka.
So for my favourite, I'm torn between Mordin and Grunt. Both are very funny, Mordin is brilliant, but I choose Grunt. To me he's a very interesting character who stirs the motherly feelings inside me. He's young, ruthless in the beginning, and finally relaxes a bit after his Rite. He finally found his place and is extremely loyal to Shepard. I hope Wrex' plan will work out on Tuchanka and Grunt can have a bright future there, unless he wants to stick with Shepard.

I'm finding it really hard to pick a favourite. So far I've got it down to Kasumi, Mordin, Wrex and Jack.
Kasumi is a cool character with a fun LM that is also very sad at the end. It's also nice to hear someone talk about the other crew members
Mordin is witty and intelligent and he makes you think. The choice in his LM was very hard, and I'm sure which choice I want to keep for my 'canon' choice.
Wrex was a permanent fixture on my squad in ME1. I love his banter and his attitude.
Jack is a deep, complex character, and I love her story. I just wiish that FemSheps could interact with her more.
Thanks for the tips on colour! Based on the suggestions given, and looking at the support banners for those characters, so far I have:
Grunt: I could give him an orangey yellow?
Thane: Green, not sure if I'll go for light or dark yet.
Kaidan: Dark grey, for the Onyx armour
Jacob: Yellow, for Cerberus and since it's used on his support banners
Zaeed:
Mordin: An orangey-red, maybe? His support banners are red...
Garrus: Dark Blue
Wrex: Dark red
Legion: Steel grey, or something close to it.
Kasumi: The same pink on her support banner, probably.
Tali: Purple
Liara: Light blue
Ash: White
Jack: Red-brown
Miranda: Orange
Samara: Probably another shade of blue
I still don't know what to do for Zaeed, and I'm not sure on Mordin or Grunt.

After that it's technically Mordin. Mordin's hilarious but also quite intelligent. He has a vibrant and interesting personality. It also helps that he gives Shep some medical advice for his/her love interest.
After that it's probably Kaidan. He's a level headed fellow and while I never really got the idea that MShepard was friends with him - at least on the same level as Garrus and Tali, he also feels like someone dependable. Having someone calm like that is nice to have. I also agree with his stance on aliens and the council, so having someone likeminded is also nice.

That's an interesting idea, actually, and I can see it happening. As you say, BioWare probably doesn't want to skew the ratio for either gender.
I can also just see them keeping the other "half" around anyway.

I actually found that Garrus was a bit meh in ME1, but they did a good job in setting the character up and stablishing a renegade v/s paragon dilemma (and it looks his father is still alive. Who wants to bet he'll have daddy issues in ME3?). Liked him much more in ME2, in the transition he took a level in badass and also is a bit of a snarker, he's like Shep's best buddy at this point.
Wrex is great, though his justification to join you in me1 was a bit weak, after you kill Fist he kinda follows you around (if you don't talk to him until after you deal with Fist, he'll say something like "You are were the action is!").
Mordin, even if he is the "comic relief" character, also has the whole genophage issue wich adds a surprsing layer of complexity.
I also like Kasumi, but I just like Japanese girls with a penchant for kleptomania
