If the elves are going to be extinct, then you can say goodbye to the dwarves. With their "progressive" assembly and low fertility, Orzammar will be in ruins. I highly doubt Bioware is going to kill off these races with just humans and qunari as the only known races left in Thedas.

Exactly! Thank you. All the Science introspectives aside, when it comes right down to "Story" it just wouldn't make sense to Kill off any of the Dragon Age races. Together they form an intricate balance and lay the foundation for BioWare's "Four Pillars" method of world crafting and Story. Given the deep investment in developing the Elfs, the Dwarves, the Qunari, and the Humans I seriously doubt Gaider, Christina, or any of the others will go the Tolkien route and write off the fate of the Elder races as you'd be essentialy Gutting the Dragon Age Universe. Thanks Caak7i. (Laughs) Figures that the simplest post gets the point across.

Okay, think I've derailed this thread enough, which was never my intention. Sorry OP! Back to Loving City Elves.

I don't think Alistair giving the CE rights will lead to their extinction. Just because he's giving them rights doesn't mean it will change the thinking right away and it caused a bit of a scandal when he appointed the elder to his council. The example used was an elven family with two children where one child never reproduced and the other had human children. That doesn't decrease the size of the race although that family might die out. Another family could just as easily have five elven kids. Making sure their population isn't destroyed will always be very important for the elves and while some (like Soris) will marry humans for love it will only ever be or love as it doesn't help their species any. All non-love matches will be with fellow elves and as long as enough of them are having multiple children the species will be stable if not increasing.

Since I don't want to be the person who *keeps* the Thread off Topic, there by giving the OP a giant Middle Finger (which they don't deserve given the awesome premise of the Thread) I think I shall endevour to get the subject back on CE and CEs alone.

Okay, something that has always bothered me; I've made it clear that I loved Shianni (yes, odd as it sounds it would have been nice to have her as a LI or fling -like Iona-  minus the Rape, even *if* she's a cousin....Hey, don't Judge me) However, playing as a MCE it kind of irk'd me that you have to bid farewell to the Elven lass you were supposed to Marry. Frankly, I thought it was a nice match, and her "Hunt you down (Cue crazy Laugh)" line caused a nice chuckle.

Coming back to the Alienage later to Save your father and the Elder it would have been nice to be able to keep that going. Don't know how my Female compatriots in the CE story feel, but I'd be willing to bet some feel the same about thier respective Grooms. So, thoughts?

No one expects to save their groom when they return since he dies helping Soris break into the Arl's estate. While Soris slides you the sword, Nelaros stands guard, is attacked, and dies in your arms.

I haven't played a CEM all the way through yet so is your bride gone for good? If she is then Nelaros might have actually gotten the better deal simply dying. You get his wedding ring, though.

I've only played 1 CEm and it was a while ago, but IIRC, the bride is unharmed and goes off to do her own thing after you get conscripted.

According to the wiki:

"After the player's city elf character is conscripted by Duncan into the Grey Wardens, her family uses the dowry money to pay for her return trip to Highever. This information is revealed to the player by Shianni should he ask about Nesiara during the Elven Alienage quest."

Nope, she's no-where to be found. Both Shianni and Soris mentions that she returned to Highever shortly after the Riots. Which is my point, it's like, "Oh Well." I mean...yes, I get that its been a Year since the events of the Orgin tale, but it still rankles me none the less to not even *have* the option to experience anything with her other than the emotionaly scarring events of the Wedding Day.

To be exact, from the Toolset:

PC: Where are Nesiara and Valora?
Shianni: Nesiara went back to Highever. Her family spent all of the dowry your father paid on bringing her home.
Shianni: Valora... well, that's something I wanted to talk to you about.
Shianni: She came to the healers here for protection from the plague, and they took her to quarantine. She was in perfect health, Cousin. Just like Valendrian. And your father.

(Laughs) I hate that you PC folks have direct access to the Tooset. Grr.
In anycase, yeah, that sums it up. Maybe it's just the hopeless Romantic in me, but, it would have been nice to say...save her from the Tevinter Slavers, i.e. saving her for the Second time, and before you go off to stand before the Landsmeet and set the final events in motion you get a passion filled night of Elf on Elf romance. At least she would be able to take *one* happy memory from you being in her life.

City Elf was the first origin I played, and the first origin I beat the game with. I picked city elf because of all the origin options, city elf seemed the most unique at the time. Now I know that all the origins have something really special and unique about them.

Except the Dalish. Dalish suck.:P

They really do.

The Origin is not only half-assed, it's almost hilarious in how bad it is. The entire time, I am surrounded by jerkasses that I can't stand even listening to, and then at the end, I'm being sent away and it's like "This music means it's sad!" and I'm like "Wtf? Hell yeah! I'm getting away from all these bitter, angry people!"

That said, City Elf is also my favorite origin by a long shot :)

A 'Return to Highever' DLC would be a lot of fun. The human noble could bring Iona's daughter to be raised in the castle. The City Elf Male could return Nesiara's dowry to her. The City Elf Female could find Nelaros' family and thank them for raising such a nice man.

Everyone could kill miscellaneous bandits 'n stuff.

Not to nitpick, but Nesiara's dowry was the money that Cyrion paid her family to finalize the match. I believe Shianni says her family used it to bring her back to Highever.

Well, she did get a story to tell her grandchildren someday.

"Yes, I was originally betrothed to the Hero of Ferelden, you know. In fact, the reason he became a Grey Warden was because of an incident that happened during the wedding itself."

I just went through the CEM origin last night and expected it to be like CEF and was surprised that she lived and then bummed when I talked to her after saving her when she was like, "oh well, it's over, you're outta here."

I think my Male City elf playthrough was by far the most successful in addition to being my favorite due to the fact that he was a 2H warrior and rarely died!. But I liked the origin because you get to storm that douchebag vaughn's estate and kill him and what can I say I love playing as an oppressed underclass. But I was dissapointed when there was no dialouge option like "Oh don't worry storming the Urian estate won't be hard I've done it once already" when you have to rescue the queen from howe.

Yeah I played a MCE through the origin.. and explored all the dialogue with Nessiara.. it's actually more depressing than when Nelaros dies. You can tell she was genuinely looking forward to being with you, and that she's proud of you.
