Before trying to manually install any DLC into your Dragon Age game, I would recommend using Modazipin. This little application will install your DLC's, offer files, and even override DLC's and mods that normally would not work on the current mac version of the game. (Example: Mac version: 1.01. Version Required for Return to Ostagar: 1.02) If, for any reason, this application fails to work, then please feel free to install your DLC's manually. You can download the most recent version here: http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=594

If you, like me, bought a DLC, like Warden's Keep, before realizing it wasn't available for mac, fear not, for I have created a guide for how to manually install purchased content on a mac version of Dragon Age: Origins. If someone else has already posted this sort of guide, good job hiding it.

Please keep in mind that, if you have not purchased the content, this guide will still not work, for the content still must be authorized after installing. I would also recommend backing up before attempting any of this.

1. Download the DLC Content Package & Offer File. These can be found at: http://dragonage.wik...adable_Content. Download the corresponding files for the DLC you have purchased. (Both file lists can be found near the bottom of the page) Keep in mind that Safari users will need to right-click the download link and select "Download Linked File".

2. What you should have are two .dazip file. Change the endcode to .zip, (delete the da) and unpack the file. This will give you a manifest.xml, which can be opened with TextEdit, and a contents file. Go to the Offer File folder and open the .xml now.

3. This is full of confusing stuff, but don't worry, you don't need to change anything. Starting with the line that starts with "<OfferItem", copy the rest of the text.

4. Now go to Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Settings. Open the offers.xml. (Backup this .xml first, just in case you mess something up) Scroll to the bottom of the page and past the copied text one line below . Ensure that the bottom of the text only has one , then save & exit.

5. Now go back to the downloaded offers file and open the contents folder. Copy the contents of the Offers folder and past it into Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Offers.

6. Now, open the actual content package file, and open the manifest.xml. Just like with the offers manifest, copy the entire text starting with <AddInItem.

7. Now open the AddIns.xml, found in the same folder as the Offers.xml in step 4, and past the text in the line that follows . Once again, check that there is only one line at the end of the text, and then save & close.

8. Now, go back to the Content Package and open the contents folder. Copy the contents of the Addins folder to the Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/AddIns folder.

9. Now start the game, log into your BioWare account, and check your Downloadable Content tab. If you were successful, your DLCs will show up. Make sure you are logged in and have purchased the DLC, otherwise the game will not allow access to the content.

10. Play! Either a new game or a loaded game should work.

There you have it: A comprehensive guide for installing DLCs on mac. Have fun, and happy adventuring.

P.S. This strategy also works with other DLC goodies, like the items from the Dragon Age: Journeys flash game, minus the part about the offers folder.

Edit: In order to get the Return to Ostagar DLC working, you will need to find the line "1.02", located near the bottom of the mod text, and delete the "1.02". After that, the DLC should work fine. You will need to do this with both the offers file and the addins file. (Many thanks to ilkelma for this information)

Glad to be of service.

Hmmmmm... Somehow, when I was looking for a guide, I looked everywhere but there. Oh well, hard to have too many guides.

HELP. I just purchased the RTO and followed all of your instructions but no downloadable files appear - I must be doing something wrong.

The instructions are about as clear as they can be, given what has to be done. If your items don't appear, the most likely cause is that you either didn't place a needed file in the right folder on your computer, or didn't paste something in the right place in one of the .xml files. I would suggest reverting to the pre-installation version and trying again. If that doesn't work, not sure what else to tell you...

Yes, I know the instructions are clear -however- when I try to open the: http://dragonage.wik...adable_Content. Download the corresponding files for the DLC you have purchased. (Both file lists can be found near the bottom of the page)

There is nothing to download, only opens up a page full of garble.

I assume your using Safari. Sometimes it tries to open the file in the web browser, which is what the page full of garble is. Just right click on the link, or control click the link and select "save linked file to downloads" Or you can use firefox, as it seems to recognize that it is supposed to download the file. Hope that helps.

Bratt, I posted a reply (actually, two questions) in the FAQ thread. Could we move over to that thread? This is getting confusing.

Ok, the problem lies in the fact that the Return to Ostagar DLC requires patch 1.03 to run. Since that patch does not exist for mac yet, the DLC will not function. (Don't feel bad. I did the same thing) All that's left to do is wait for the patch to come out.

"All that's left to do is wait for the patch to come out. "

Or you can install it like many of us have done and enjoy playing it while you wait for the patch.

I used the new Modazipin for the first time the other night to install some mods. I really like it!

Hmm. I'll have to try it. I couldn't get the old version to work on my computer, hence the need for these instructions. Still, glad I could be of service

The FAQ has a section about circumventing the 1.03 problem in order to play RtO. And I can confirm that it works.

Actually, the solution is a few posts down, in a post by "eleve", I think. The FAQ instructions got corrupted somehow and are incomplete.

Ok, pretty much from now on, use Modazipin. It has evolved to the point where these directions are not needed. However, should the application fail to work, these directions can hopefully still find use. Thank you.
