I asked my friends about this and they said that I should try to look up in the save folder located in my documents.
So I did, all of my friends they have both "save" files and "profile" files, but I've no idea what that suppose to mean.
This is what I got after opend my "Save" folder in my documents...

AutoSave.pcsav
ChapterSave.pcsav
QuickSave.pcsav
Save_0012.pcsav
Save_0014.pcsav
Save_0015.pcsav

Please help, I'm really upset about this.

Thanks in advance

In what way can't you load your save games? I.e. they don't show up; or they do but you get an error message when you load them (what error message?); etc.

Edit: By "profile" your friends probably mean the Player1.prf file in BIOGame\\Profile\\ under the same ME2 folder in My Documents. That file stores your achievements, and quite possibly other things I'm not aware of.

Did you make sure you loaded the right career? In the savegame folder each has a distinct folder labelled NAME_NUMBER_class_DATE (like Bravenue_12_Engineer_020510). If for example all .pcsav files are in another folder the game tries to read from, they won't show up in game. Or maybe the folder was renamed and now ME2 can't read from it?

I also hava the same problem, but i think i've find a solution.

1. Create "Profile" folder manually in My Document/BioWare/Mass Effect 2/BioGame/
This will save your achievement throughout the game.

2. Create folder with your character 1st name in My Document/BioWare/Mass Effect 2/Save/
And Copy all your save to this folder.

There's still problem with this solution, that you have to synchronize save file to your 2nd folder manually.
Edit: Don't need to manually synchronize if loaded from that folder.

Good luck.

I'm having the same problem. I tried to resume my game first of all and it refused to do anything. I have also tried the 'Load Game' option and it lists my last saved game, but when I click on it, again, nothing happens. I have looked at the save file within My Document and the saved game is also shown there...........exactly the same time/date etc as is shown in ME2 Load Game section.

It will allow me to start the game from the beginning, but why the hell do I want to do that when I'm so far through the game??

This is totally the reason why I don't like PC gaming very much, because you spend more time trying to 'troubleshoot' gliches and system problems than you do enjoying the game.

Any help would be appreciated guys n gals. xx

^ I'm currently having the same problem where my saved games just say "unkown world", it wont let me resume or load any of the saved games for that one character. The others are fine though.

Would love an answer for this conundrum though! (in less than a month) ^_^

I also am having trouble, the load game screen is blank i.e. no career or name is present, however when I save a game all the saves appear on that screen, so they are there! The resume load works!! The game is installed on my E: drive not C: drive.

Using the ME2 configure configure utility, I had to point the "Copy Mass Effect 1 Save Games" tool to the save game folder on my C drive, even though my ME1 and ME2 games are loaded on my F drive. After I pointed it to the C drive save game folder in "User Name"/Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect/Save, everything loaded fine.

Hey there!
I've got a similar problem with ME2. I can apparently save the game (at least it says 'game saved' in the bottom left corner, and the menue also says there exists a savegame...), but when I open the load menue there's just nothing there! As in, no career, no save games, nothing. Resume loads don't work either.
Now, after reading what bogey and Kloreep wrote I tried locating any "save" or "profile" files, but again, I didn't find anything. Also, when I open 'My Documents' there's just one folder labeled 'Downloads' and nothing else. Maybe this is because I downloaded ME2 via Steam...? Steam is installed on my D: drive so the game also seems to be there and not on my C: drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^^

UPDATE:
I managed to locate the BioWare folder on my E: drive. No idea how it ended up there and why it isn't with the other Mass Effect files on D:. Anyway, this is funny: It contains the Mass Effect 2 Demo folder and the ME1 folder including my savegames from ME1 but a ME2 folder is nowhere to be seen.

THANK'S A LOT!!!!!!!!!!

you truly saved my live!!!! :D

Here's another step for saving the file in the right folder

at "\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\mass effect 2\\BioGame\\Config" you can find the file "DefaultEngine.ini".
->Backup this file (just to be sure)<-
open it with "notepad++" and go to the line 569 (or search for "SavePath").
add your character 1st name and save the file.
hf playing me2 ;)

I just got this bug as well, in a way. When I tried to load any save, it just froze up. I went through all the crap of verifying saves and folders etc...but it was all there.

Finally i read where someone said there was a problem with changing profiles, and the DLC not being authorized for different people.

I think it was the DRM. I am pretty sure my computer went into hybernate, and when i logged back in, perhaps there was a bug with it reading my profile. After I shut down rebooted, the game loads fine now.

If nothing else works try it.

I simply copied My Documents\\Bioware folder from my second Internal HDD to my primary Solid state drive and it works. I ran in to this problem after building a new computer where I upgraded to a Solid State drive for my OS and kept the HDD for internal storage.  I didn't see to much help in the issure online so I want to make sure I passed this along. I hope it helps someone.
