Mass Effect 2's Hammerhead mission planets
are virtually a straight line to each objective with hardly any actual
detail (or even people) . However, the same thing is true for Mass
Effect 1 and the Mako - for main missions, it's a linear path, populated
with random enemies to 'splode with the Mako cannon. For side missions,
you're stuck on an empty square mile of elevated terrain (with
invisible borders, apparently), and the map already tells you
everything. In both cases, you're still driving to the next shooting
gallery.

Yeah. And when it came to the random planets  there was too much of http://masseffect.wi...nScreenshot.jpg and not enough of http://masseffect.wi...rScreenshot.jpg .

For some reason most of the points of interest were located on top of mountains too.

I'm kind of wondering why mercenaries would build at the top of mountains when it's already difficult enough to get supplies in and out of a planet.

Plot hole!

:police:

Not really. They can fly supplies in and it makes them much safer from ground attack by pesky Alliance soldiers

In another article or vid I believe they said Overlord will have VO.  How much and in what context I don't know. If BW had this all planned out from day one in terms of doing DLC to transition between ME2 and 3 they *may* have had the VAs record dialogue for them during the ME2 sessions. Due to scheduling conflicts of some of the big names like Sheen and what's her face from Chuck it would make sense to do it like that.  HH being the exception since it was meant to be more of a test or demo of the vehicle that'll be used in future dlc.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if Overlord starts off with yet another email either from Timmy or some Cerebus drone.

OK moving past planet scanning (seriously, the new patch makes it a breeze - although I never found it that bad to begin with)...and onto the "future DLC" stuff.

very much looking forward to Overlord, but bigger picture, future DLC to bridge ME2 and 3 sounds great. I really hope they can record new squad/crew dialogue for these bits though. It will seem a bit odd if nobody ever has anything to to say after completing the mission and moving on to stuff that leads into the next installment.

Maybe when they start bringing the VA's in for the ME3 recording sessions (I am assuming these have to be recorded a year or more in advance of the game's release, and they can do some early recording for some returning characters), they can have them record stuff for the bridge DLC as well. Or if they have enough (big enough, numerous enough) DLCs planned they can bring a bunch of them to record a few episodes. I dunno...I just hope they find a way to do it. At the minimum we should get Kasumi/Zaeed style "lines" for the squadmates to avoid getting the anachronous repetition of pre-suicide mission lines, and hopefully some -in mission lines too.

Sounds interesting....but the remark about "we didn't expect the players to mine the entire galaxy" was really off.

I didn't mine for the sheer fun of it, but rather to get all available upgrades....damn the platinum shortage!

I have the impression though that the DLC content improved the situation a bit.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Overlord.

Yea, I'm sure Overlord and other story-DLC will have VO, but I suspect in this case the VO will be Shep and some villains/NPC's related ot the mission - maybe EDI as well?  But I don't know if they will record new stuff for the squadmates o this, an would guess we're probably going to get the silent squaddie thing.  Which is sort of OK for this kind of thing, but once they start doing DLC sapecifically for post-finale and bridging to ME3, they really ought to have new dialogue for the squad and crew.

Yeah I would love to have more companion VA in the DLC's. I'm hoping Legion will have some VA in Overlord as it has Geth in it, or maybe even Miranda as its is a Cerberus project gone wrong, but I doubt it. I can see them realising random side quest DLC's until about a year before ME 3, then begin realising DLC's that bridge the gap between the two for two reasons:

1) Build hype for ME 3

2) They'll be recording VA for ME3, so they can record dialogue for all the companions in the

DLC's.

i imagine after the threshold of the va recording sessions for me3's development is when we'll be getting some of the most KICKASS dlc of the entire pack.

I'm loving this idea of a Mass Effect 2.5 essentially, ME2 raised a lot of questions and seemed like they were going to leave all the answering to ME3. Which wouldn't seem too good because it would be really cramped. But with a ME2.5 perhaps some loose ends could be tied up, hopefully it is a good sized expansion pack.

Is it just me, or does Hudson look like Sylar from Heros?

He does, he probably sliced open any of his employee's heads who don't perform well in their jobs.

This is not the place to ask. Creating a new thread is preferable to bringing a dead thread back form the dead.

It was mentioned in the video that they've reached the 12 characters and Overlord was stand alone, but they were going to start telling what happens between ME2 and ME3 at some point.  I don't think we've seen any of that yet.  LotSB certainly doesn't apply as the story can take place before or after the SM.
