Just created this topic to know if this happened to someone else and not just me, lool.

I had Zevran in most of my quests while gathering the army for the Blight, but in Denerim when i had to face a bunch of Assassins or something, after a cutscene, Zevran turns his side to the enemy and betrays me, and tries to kill my whole party, i was like "OMFG"...

Did it happen to you aswell? Did Zevran Betrayed you?
Please post your share of experience...

Thanx :)

I think you only need to get his approval past 60 or so to keep him. Although 9/10 I question then kill him.

Nope. He didn't betray my character, because he was in love with her. He actually helped her kill the assassins.

I didn't think it was even as high as 60. Just don't ignore him, give him a few gifts, and you should be fine.

You probably don't even need the gifts if you talk to him and are nice to him. Just don't condemn him for being what he is. He always helps me against Taliesin, even when I don't romance him. His approval is rather easy to gain if you are at all kind to him - he hasn't had a lot of kindness in his life.

Zev's approval is pretty easy to bump, and you don't have to flirt with him. Just talk to him and don't be a jerk--you don't even have to agree with him (sometimes you get more approval out of disagreeing!). Have yet to see a betrayal out of him, even when I more or less ignore him.

His approval has to be at least 30 I think. He never betrayed me and it's very easy to increase his approval.

His approval needs to be 26+, but you do need to talk to him to switch him from neutral to warm or blank to interested.

Just flirt with him a couple times and he's completely loyal to you.

If the romance is active but not at adore, he'll probably leave the fight, but not fight against you, so a little flirting is not the best option really. Better if you don't want to romance him, just be decent to him. No need to flirt, and get your approval up high enough so he asks about the future. Once you have that conversation, provided you're decent to him, he won't betray.

It's funny given what so many posters (not here in this thread) seem to think, but Zevran really is Mr Loyalty. If you are decent to him and deal with him honestly and fairly (and talk to him) his approval bumps up quite easily and he will never betray you.

While I do not kill the lecherous Elf most of the time, I really do not miss him when I finish what he started in that ravine..

And I did not know he would turn at this point in Denerim; good to know.

Give him the antivan boots gift and the dalish gloves gift and theres no ninja romance and he considers you a friend.

John remember that first time i played it through, he was about 50? I did a particular sequence of dialogue choices and when we met the crows, he left the scene (in Denerim) but I picked him up again later I think. He didn't betray me, just didn't want to kill his old mates I 'spose.

Sorry not to be more clear, it's about 2 months ago now I did it.

With the right build, he's one of the deadliest- if not the deadliest- NPC companion you can pick up.  I think it's a case of not knowing what you're missing.

He's got some good dialogue, a very well-written character, and ironically enough, in the end he's the one NPC companion who wants to stick with you no matter what.  If you've tried to befriend him and just don't like the character that is one thing (as is the case with Leliana for me), but to simply not get to know the character at all... you are missing out.

He will leave the fight under certain conditions, and be back at camp.  You actually get an interesting dialogue with him about Taliesin (the assassin who attacks you in Denerim) if this happens.

As I recall, this happens if the romance is on but approval under 70.  It is a hat tip to the fact that he and Taliesin were once lovers.  The conflict is greater for him if he's falling in love with the Warden and meets Taliesin.  I believe he will always stay, however, if you choose the dialogue option "Zevran doesn't need the Crows any longer."

It is really no effort at all to get Zevran's approval high enough for him not to turn on you.  Keep in mind also that he took the Warden contract because he wanted to die, and IMO he doesn't expect any different outcome this time, either.  It's clear from his dialogue when he does help you, or when he leaves, that he knows the Warden is going to win the fight.

I have saved his hide in almost every campaign, but find him really only useful in breaking the Warden out of prison. His dialogue is very sim to Oghren's; just a bit more sober. I have not yet had him turn on me, so Approval has always been high enough, but I do not believe he is worth the effort unless you require another Rogue.

One of these playthroughs I'll get around to killing some Party members I suppose, but it always seems like a waste to miss out on dialogue options (particularly Zevran, he is hilarious in party banter).

Good sense of humor on that elf...

This is the main reason I saved him early on, when he asked that I do not consume him or perform some other act of barbarism.

Meh.

Get a respec mod and you can make Leliana into the same, or better.

Really the main problem with companions is that they arent skilled very well and that bad skilling in DA leads to such drastic differences.

I do use the respec mod if my PC is not a rogue, to make Zevran more of a cunning-based build so Leliana can decorate camp.  Posted Image

It's really in what you prefer.  A melee rogue, which is Zevran's default setup, is IMO a deadlier and more versatile fighter than a warrior.  I run 2-rogue teams if my PC is a rogue, and definitely do so in Awakening.  If I could take my pick between a warrior and a melee rogue, it would be the latter every time.  So instead of thinking of Zevran as a sub for Leliana, think of him as a sub for a warrior.

Oghren??  I'm sorry, I don't see the resemblance at all, unless you mean the mere fact that both of them hit on the women of the party.  But Zevran's reasons for doing so are often different, e.g. a running bet to rattle Morrigan or an attempt to deflect Wynne's patronizing.

To each his own, naturally.  IMO each of the companions is worth some effort, to experience the full gamut of the game writing.

I have used Zev at every level from full-blown romance to basic respect, and have never had him turn against me or ask to leave. He is a lot easier to gain approval from than any of the others, including Alistair. And a lot harder to ****** off than any, with the exception of Sten, whom I can seldom get to give me more than just grudging respect.
