Im trying to decide if I should make a vindicator useing vanguard; on my vanguard I had choosen to use the claymoore but I almost never use it.

Pros
new way to play as vanguard

Cons
more mineral scaning
makes the locust pointless

what do you guys think?

Why does it make the Locust pointless? When you have no ammo left, switch to the Locust ;-).

But it's an interesting idea. Vanguard + Vindicator... do you use Charge often?

The claymore is the only shotgun with balls in that game. Your loss.

But it's still interesting to test new stuff.

if I get into a beserker like rage with the scimitar then yes but most of the time I charge near the end, there is a video of a vindicator vanguard on youtube. but thinking about it a pulse rifle vanguard could also work use the pulse rifle to strip down barrier and sheilds the charge...

It's really a matter of personal preference. Different people play different and have different preferences for weapon style. If you can't click with the Claymore (I don't use it myself), then taking it is largely pointless.

Besides personal preference, different missions have different enemies which suit different weapon loadouts. Even comparing the Locust with the Tempest there's no outright winner: I would take the Tempest for shield/barrier heavy knife-fights, but Locust would be better for anti-armour at longer ranges.

Don't worry too much what me or the others think - you just find what you like and works for you.

P.S.: I use Vindicator for my Vanguard babe - she likes smacking victims in the teeth with her elbow after they get a faceful of burning shrapel from her Eviscerator when she goes Charging ... but she also likes to sit back, Reeve and set people on fire from afar with her Vindicator.  Plus, as quoted from thisisme8's Vanguard guide: "Sometimes you just don't Charge in."

LOL, I have never taken the Claymore, and am thinking of taking it this time around on my first Insanity Vanguard. As a general rule for Vanguards and Adepts I take the Sniper rifle and use the Viper. I tried the assault rifle on my first Adept run, but later found the Viper can do all the Assault rifle can and more. Viper can rapid fire take down enemies like an assault rifle, and headshot them at distance in pure sniper rifle mode.

But like SupidSeep said, it is all personal preference and how each person plays their character. Assaults are fine, but as stated then don't really work great with my style, hopefully they will with yours.

Love the Vindicator - took it on my first playthrough because I thought all shotguns sucked; hardly charged at all that run - Vindicator and Carnifex

My new Vanuard run I have chosen the Viper because I have the Evi but for my next run I will finally do the traditional Vanguard with full charge, claymore etc.

Vindicator is like the ultimate weapon for this style of combat - you pop up and drop two guys and drop back down but it truly is down to preference though because if you max out powers and upgrades you can charge around and slay enemies like shown in many of the vids.

The issue I have with the Vindicator on a Vanguard is just that a Vanguard with a Viper basically does everything better. Sure, you won't have the Vindi's flexibility, but you have a hand cannon and a tempest fot that. You'll own everything at long range with the Viper and everything at short range with the Scimitar.

It thinks it does. The scimitar does better damage in terms of DPS.

And can actually shoot more than once per reload. The Claymore's place is in a museum next to the flintlocks. :P

Why wouldn't a Vanguard just use the Eviscerator shotgun and back it up with the Viper? I guess I could see the appeal of the Vindicator, but even then, I'd honestly rather use theCollector assault rifle as an "eff your shields" measure.

If I don't take the claymore, I take the viper and just use the evi. AR seems kinda pointless on a vanguard if you have the locust and the Viper will take out the big guys better than the vindicator.

Yes. Vindicator is very fine for a vanguard. 1 shot strip shields, switch to everiscerator then charge and kill.

Actually, the Eviscirator is plenty bad ass...It doesnt have the "raw strength" that the claymore has but it's certainly more "versitile" and Ill take versitility over "raw power" any day.

For enemies like that, why not just 1 shot evi and 1 punch? Why go through the trouble of stripping shields? Kinda better having their shields up so they don't fly away from you when you charge.
