Hullo everyone!
After a long, painful battle (in which I gave up quite a few times before sticking it out to the end) with the SQL downloader thing or whatever (I had to download/fix like 5 other things to do so !) I finally managed to download the lovely toolset. I'd like to thank my mum, dad and last but by no means least, the toolset wiki!

Now that I'm here, I have some general questions mainly regarding morphs.

1. Can someone explain the concept of Blends to me?

From my understanding, it is basically the skin tone/complexion.

2. How do I undo something?

Say I choose an eye texture from the blank. I now have the Lady of the Forest eyes. I don't want those. How do I go back to it having a blank value?

3. Is there any way to improve the lighting in the toolset?

4. "Human" hairstyles for non-human races - how?

I have the More Hairstyles mod installed. How do I get it to work for say a dwarf? At the moment, I make my morphs into presets, but I would like to at least preview certain hairstyles with faces to see what works best.
(I HAVE done my homework: http://whuffie.wordp...mod-da-toolset/ was somewhat helpful but in the end it did not work)

I hope to add more questions to this because I'm sure I'll have more, and I'd ratehr not make individual threads :innocent:

many thanks,
euca!

1. Heads can use 2 skin diffuse textures and blend them together. Essentially all you are doing is laying one on top of the other and adjusting how much you let the bottom one show through. A good example is the Loghain head. It uses the human diffuse as the base and the qunari diffuse is blended in under the eyes and on the cheeks to get those dark markings. You can also blend normal maps. Same basic principle.

2. Click in the field to highlight it, press the Delete key.

3. No.

4. You can't use hair from another race without first physically editing the model in a 3D app like 3DS Max or Blender.

Actually I should clarify #3. In my opinion you can't actually improve the lighting (which is what you asked), but you can change it. In the morph editor, go to tab #13 View Settings. You can change the light model used. The all suck basically and are not a true reflection of how anything will actually look in the game, hence my original answer.

These are the different lighting options:

Thanks again -- that does help out considerably even though as you point out its not ideal.

Especially the bottom far left vs the top far right.

Can presets be opened in the toolset?
