Hath Bioware come under new management lately? All their games are rubbish except for NWN.
Played ME1. It was ok but got boring after a while and was too predictable.
Haven't played ME2 and I don't intend to.
Played DAO. It was ok but I was bombarded with pointless random quests and it seemed to be half completed:
Only 3 classes? Mage healer? Warrior archer? Rogue?
Only Dwarfs and Humans???? What about goblins and gnomes and other stuff?
That got boring too.
I don't intend to be buying DA expansion or DA2.
It seems DAO is copying Blizzard's Warcraft games instead of being pure DnD based.
The only decent game Bioware made was back in 2002 - Neverwinter Nights. Now that game was brilliant. It had everything - a decent storyline with the plague and waterdavian creatures. The system was just perfect - the tooltips, icons, portraits, text, interface, sounds and graphics. If Bioware could of expanded NWN that would've been huge. Instead Obsidian Entertainment made NWN2 and it was just awful. It was nothing like the original NWN masterpiece plus the expansions that took you into the desert and underground and the custom campaigns advertised on Bioware's site. I have purchased them all.
NWN fans will know what I'm on about. The rest of you GTFO.
Bioware is going downhill...

You have got one nasty case of nostalgia son, NWN was nowhere near the end all-be all of RPG's and certainly not BioWare's pinnacle, that to me is still the BG series. Hell for the most part I've enjoyed DAO:O more then I enjoyed NWN. Time to move out of the past and get with us folks here in 2010.

never played ME-ME2
but it is all about a matter of taste right?
I mean not everyone likes the same stuff
so if one person likes pizza should the other person like pizza too?
what I am saying is everyone has a right to dislike stuff and the way he outspoken himself was rather harsh and could of refrased his words in another way....
but dose it make one a hypocritical assumptions for disliking a game?
I dont think Bioware has gone downhill there just trying out new stuff to please the aduidence...(or so they say)
Last thing before I go
If you don't like the games just don't play them and try looking for something you do like and try not to be an arse about it

NWN is by far Biowares worst RPG (for the PC, never tried that DS game). The toolset made it a lot more worthwhile and the epansions where a lot better, but the game itself is quite bad by Bioware standards. That still makes it quite decent in the industry as a whole, but it's nothing compared to Baldurs Gate, Kotor, Mass Effect or Dragon Age. Even Jade Empire was a better single player experience.
But NWN OC is the only Bioware game I, never finished (stoped plaing halfway throu act 3 and never ever came back too. I have played every other RPG from them atleast two times.

NWN was great, but it was not about the single player campaign. It was great because the online had a good potential. Same about NWN2 , even if many NWN fans got disappointed at first.
and ...
DA:O is nothing near Baldur's Gate.
Let's be honest. If Baldur's gate was redone with today's graphic, it would be superior to DA:O on many aspects

I can't take seriously any post that says NWN1 (and the first OC) was their apogee, and everything has been downhill from there. NWN may have been great for people who wanted to MP the D & D experience on a computer -- that was never my cup of tea -- but as a SP experience, it was never that great. SoZ was the first really good module/campaign for a single player they've delivered, and it was way too short and too "low level".
Awakening, FeastDay, and Darkspawn Chronicles worry me as a quick descent after the rather good delivery/upswing of Origins, but I'm hoping the decline isn't permanent. Maybe there are still things ahead that can be better. We can always hope.

As a LONG time NWN fan, I have to ask... What the hell are you going on about? lolrecruitme wrote...

As far as I can decypher from your post, it appears you prefer the The D&D system? Because that's what you're really describing: a bajillion Races + a bajillion classes = better. That's fine. Tell it like it is.
But for the love of god, don't try to compare the two games' story lines or NPC depth. Because that's the absolute silliest argument ever. NWN1 is not remembered for its Story (which the Devs admitted they simply slapped together at the last second to showcase the power of the tool-set). Its remembered for its tool-set, its powerful engine, and its amazingly awesome multi-player capibilities.
Dragon age, on the other hand, IS remembered for its Story and it's NPC character depth. It's a single player game with a focus on story and party.
In other words, don't compare apples with grapes.

I rather enjoyed Awakening, but then again I'm playing on the PC and have not experienced the woes that many others have. What Awakening lacked in terms of PC interaction, it more than made up for in content when you compare it to other DLC that came before it.
I'm not a big fan of FeastDay or DC but will probably wind up getting both just to complete the DA set of games.
As far as future DLC's are concerned, think of it this way . . . they can only get better . . .

Yah NWN is just bad compared to Dragon Age, Jade Empire, KOTOR, and Mass Effect.
To me every new Bioware game is a step up and with TOR coming out next year, all the single player Bioware games will look sad in comparison.
