This has probably been asked many times before. I have heard the level cap is 25, but is it possible to reach? I managed to get level 24 on my mage using the archivist's sash through only half of the game, and still had a bunch of unfinished ambushes.

Would it be possible to reach level 25 if I picked up the sash as soon as I left Lothering as well as played a rogue for the experience from chests and disarming traps? I have all the DLC.

Thanks in advance. =]

I've gotten over 24 with a rogue without using the sash, so I bet if you got it after Lothering or even before (IIRC you can go straight to Denerim from Flemeth's) so you can get the benefit on the Lothering Codex entries, you could probably do it.

You don't need to get the sash early in order to reach level 25. Just take every opportunity to get experience and it is doable. It's easier to get there with a rogue than a mage but can also be a bit more frustrating. My last rogue was level 23 before the landsmeet was called and it was annoying as heck to know he'd be maxed out way before the final battle. The final battle is nowhere near as much fun if you are overpowered.

The only way to NOT get over-powered with any class in Dragon Age is to either rush the game or wade into the final battle with no armor on.

Good to know that it is possible to reach 25.

I just find it odd that, even playing through the whole game in Nightmare, the only time it is an actual "nightmare" is at the very beginning - and then only if you don't abuse potions and pulling.

Its possible to get to level 25 but its time consuming believe me when I say time consuming.

Proving supplies to your allies gives you exp. Providing 30 Gold to eamon's knights have the largest boost but gold is hard to get.

The easiest way is, Collect supplies for the dalish elves, easiest being elfroot they're everywhere. Travel to a town collect elfroot go to another town collect elfroot. Random encounter about a thousand times collect elfroot and repeat. Repeat this and you'll reach 25 in no time. Only thing you need is patience and alot of time, generally ALOT of time. Took me 1 week using this method to reach 25

Doing all the quest only gets you to level 24
even if you solo the game
so the best way is the party supply quest

Or you could just buy as much Elfroot as you can afford from the Dalish merchant . . . Posted Image

Is it no time, or a LOT of time? :)

But yeah, just buy the (infinite) elfroot, it's faster.

Like I said Gold is the problem if it was free, I wouldn't do the retarded plan of going one place to another, usually by end game buying your best gear and crap, you'll be poor as a pickle. Sure its 50 copper but you need like a few hundred to a few thousand depending on what level you are by end game that you'll be broke, if you have that much as might as well donate it to Eamon's knights for supplies since they give a better bonus of EXP.

But  its not expensive.  You only need about 15 sovereigns worth of elfroot/deathroot.  That will net you  enough exp to raise you from  23 to 24.    After that, simply head off to redcliffe to begin the "point of no return" part of the game  (redcliffe/denerim seige/fort drakon) there's enough exp  there to get to from 24 to 25.

The point of no return, I would have already spent my money on potions and other stuff including gear emptying my pocket by then. The only way you could reach 23 is with a rogue by opening every piece of treasure chest and stealing a lot to keep your flow of income in your pockets. The highest I could reach with other classes such as a Warrior and Mage was 21-22 after collecting codex entries and doing nearly every single quest. I would already be broke by the time the point of no return.

What platform are you playing on?   and do you have   RTO, Stone Prisoner and Soldiers peak?

On PC, I always end the game at 24 without using the elfroot exploit.

And I'm always at level 23  when I head off to Redcliffe Castle for the final sequence of events.  But   Again, 15 sovereigns worth of elfroots donated to the Dalish army will get your level to 24  at that point.

Edit:  and yes, Opening every locked chest in the game is a Given.  You should be doing that regardless of whether you want more money, or more exp.

Well I managed to get level 25 on my warrior the other day. I just went to the Dalish camp and spent about 100 sovereigns on elfroot at level 23 (close to 24). I think I may have spent a bit more than I needed - I was level 25 before I reached Fort Drakon during the final battle.

I was level 23 and close to 24 on my warrior at this point. This was before using the party camp returnables and also using the Archivist's Sash the entire game.

Archivist's Sash is a waste of gold for a solo run. I have no DLC that explains my lost of 2 levels compared to you guys with DLCs you can get an extra 2 levels for free without forking out the gold, silver and copper. But from level 21 to 25, that a crap load of gold needed even after with a naked party in the camp.

You're also missing out on a  sh*t-load of gold.  Those Three DLCs probably account for about 200 extra gold when all is said and done -- possibly a lot more.    In fact, simply doing Shale's quest in Cadish Thaig will net you enough  loot to get you from 0 gold to about 94 gold, and that's like... a 10 minute quest!

One more thing...  I noticed in an earlier post that you mentioned donating  sovereigns to Eamon's knights.    I'd suggest, if money is so tight for you, that you NOT do so.  Contrary to rumor, this is NOT the Cheapest way to raise your levels.  It's actually the second most expensive way  (buying runes and donating them to the Circle is the most expensive way)

Suggestion:      Use  those sovereigns  to buy elfroots instead.

It costs like 87 silvers I think. Or did you mean that it would be more cost effective to use the Dwaren Merchant belt or w.e it is called for the gold increase?

And yeah the DLC is definitely why you're missing out on levels and gold.

I'm amazed anyone uses the archivist's sash. I did on my first playthrough but I got fed up switching belts everytime there was something to read.

I just left it on. Your characters become over-powered enough without the necessity of stats from a belt.

Good point.  My first playthrough I was scrambling for every little edge I could get but not now.Posted Image
