Yeah - what an improvement! It's not only bigger but the scanner moves a great deal quicker too. You can scan a whole planet in less than a minute easily. Cheers Bioware - this is a great improvement.

I'm trepidacious about the patch because I'm afraid they'll sneak in and fix the cheaty glitch I like to use after 8 playthroughs.

That would be nice if Bioware may communicate about this patch...

Holy crap this patch made the scanning game a breeze now. Not only does the scanner have a bigger diameter but its faster and you can spin the planet around quicker as well.

wow, so bioware patched ME2 for xbox only and didn't announce it?

given the extreme rarity and pain in the ass it is to get a patch past the microsoft certification, it is very odd that there is no announcement.

can you guys elaborate? did you get a formal update screen for the patch when you put the ME2 disc in?

I'd just like it to go on the record that Bioware is ****ing AWESOME like this. They love their fans, and despite how much some of you **** them out, they really do care, and they really do listen.

Keep doing what you do Bioware. You guys rock.

Yes, once you launch the game, it alerts you that there is an update which you can choose to accept or not.

A rather pleasant Monday morning surprise!

Any chances of a PC patch where we get keyboard shortcuts back?

No one's answering my question on the other thread so Ill ask here...I assume I just hook up to Xbox live and then the patch will launch once I load up the game?

I haven't checked it out myself yet, but if the planet scanner reticule has been changed as much is it sounds, I daresay I might even begin to -enjoy- the planet scan minigame. I've always thought that planet scanning was 'fun' in the sense that it was rewarding when you came across rich planets, hit big mineral spikes, and ended up leaving a planet with a decent haul... but any positives for me were overwritten by the slowness and the monotony of it all...

LONG STORY SHORT, cheers BioWare! Thanks for listening to us lowly plebes and keep up the good work!

Wow, Bioware.

I'm so pleased you released this patch. great great news, and thanks for listening to the fans.

However again I'm utterly stymied as to why you haven't ever told people that there was a patch in the works. Why suffer all the threads of complaint and gripe? Why couldn't you have just said the wheels were in motion towards getting it resolved?

It would have saved so much fuss..

Anyway right now I just don't care. Go Bioware! (and thanks again)

Follow the rainbow to the end and you get:

Hello Mass Effect 2 Xbox 360 players.

This morning a patch for Mass Effect 2 went live on the Xbox 360. This patch contains the following:

* Scanning for minerals has been optimized

* Fixed an issue with marking all entries as viewed in the Journal

* Fixed an issue relating to text and the menu screen

* Fixed an issue relating to players starting a new game and loading a save

* Fixed multiple issues when loading a save containing DLC when DLC isn't present

* Fixed an issue with ammo flashing when it can't be picked up

* Fixed an issue with crosshairs

* Fixed an issue with Grunt's Fortification power

* Fixed an issue with enemies and cover

* Fixed an issue where players could receive additional talent points

* Fixed an issue where squad members would overwrite ammo powers the player had assigned them

Currently this patch is only for the 360, but a patch for the PC version of Mass Effect 2 is in the works and we will have details as soon as they are ready. /images/forum/emoticons/smile.png

Yeaha, and they found this on our forums when I said it at the link I already provided.

Maybe I should see if it isn't too late to add a better detection skill into the patch. ;)
