The game is balanced.

And you DON'T have to resort to something like that...unless you're copping to the notion that you can't complete the game without cheating it.

Is that one of the fixes? LAME! It's a harmless explot in a single player only game. I love having all my abilities maxed, I just increase the difficulty so that the gameplay is still challenging. PC players can mod their games like crazy, but xbox 360 players can't keep a harmless explot? So lame...

Being able to have all my powers maxed makes the game significantly more fun for me. This really sucks. I wish I could not get the update without playing offline all the time.


It seems harmless now, but what if it prevented the correct importing of your character to Mass Effect 3? Then you'd be screwed and have to start ME2 over again lol.



If he had to do the game over he's be pizzed at Bioware and it'd be Bioware's fault for "putting" the glitch in there to start with.

ps How the hell admin at bioware manage to keep their mouth shut when some members talk utter presumptuous ****e is beyond me! kudos Bioware for your restraint! You are a better person than I (who would be using ip addresses to hunt down some members)!

Hey guys the question has been raised, why did we fix the extra points glitch? ME2 is a single player game, and we generally don't fix glitches unless they could have negative consequences for our players.



When evaluating a glitch for a potential fix we ask ourselves:

- Are players who are not trying to glitch going to encounter this glitch?

- Could this glitch worse a player's play experience?



The extra skill points glitch could be encountered by players who are not trying to glitch pretty easily.



The extra skill points glitch could worse the play experience for players. Specifically, we can not guarantee the character import process will work properly for characters with extra skill points. These characters may fail to import, or their skill information may not import correctly. A lesser concern is, players attempting to play 100% legit games may end up with characters with extra skill points that cause them to feel their game is no longer legitimate.



Let me give you an example of a glitch we are not fixing. We're aware there are paragon/renegade glitches in the game. While some players could encounter those accidentally, the impact is pretty small. We've also determined this can not mess up the character import process into ME3. So, we are leaving paragon/renegade glitches alone and will not be fixing them.



I hope this clarifies what kinds of glitches we will and will not fix.

Much thanks for the clarification, Christina! If a legitimate game can be affected by that glitch accidentally, then it's definitely worth fixing.

Also, is there any chance we'll be getting keyboard shortcuts back for the PC version?

I and plenty of other people have beaten the game on Insanity without glitching. Non-issue. And if this potentially messed up character imports to ME3 as Christina says, I don't even want to imagine the sh*tstorm we would have had here once all the glitchers would have realized they permanently broke their games.

The import corruption to ME3 resulting from the x-a glitch in ME2 is pretty obvious. Bioware's acting responsibly trying to avoid that (corruption) for their customers. They have a responsibility to their final product (a trilogy, whether you buy all 3 games or not), and if this patch is to ensure a quality product, more power to them!

I was initially disappointed that the skill point trick had been taken out. Mainly because my vision of an all powerful adept was now beyond my reach, as your only given enough skill points to max out about four of your stats. But after remembering that I at least still have my  maxed out soldier (complete with heavy assualt rifle) I wasn't too bummed out. I hope they make up for this by increasing the level cap with the next DLC, let us max out at Lvl 35 or 40 instead of just 30. That way we can get a few extra skill points to play with ya know? And on a closing note I'd like to say how much I like the new mineral scanner, scanning planets now takes seconds as opposed to a good 1-2 minutes like before.

I, for one, never used the extra point glitch anyway, as I'm naturally not the type who likes to risk his game for something that's ultimately not worth it. But I can see where my fellow gamers are coming from. It appears that the majority are just shocked the glitch has been fixed when they weren't exactly expecting it to be fixed anytime soon, if at all.

Anyway, thanks again for the information, Ms. Norman. And I'm really happy with the modified planet scanning process. Much appreciated. ;)

wow ok I am on my 4th play thru and the Scanner, not upgraded, is already huge and fast, does Miranda's upgrade make it even more so?

I loaded up one of my previous games and there is no difference, so I guess Mirandas upgrade is obsolete now
