I wanted to become an arcane warrior and as I understand it, you need to find the presence in the life gem in the lower ruins somewhere.

I went through the whole ruins, finished the main questline with the werewolves and now I'm back there trying to figure this out.  I finished the fountain and alter, killed and looted everything in the lower ruins and I don't see a life gem.  Please help.

There's another altar in the middle level of the ruins, use Tab to highlight usable stuff to find it. Use the glass phylactery behind it, touch the gem and be nice through the dialogue to learn Arcane Warrior.
