Does the game 360 version of the game still have a completely broken ending? My friend just beat the game for the first time and she literally left the room in tears because she didn't get the ending she wanted - nay, deserved - after playing for 45 hours.

In particular she played a human female mage. At the landsmeet she attempted to put Anora in as Queen so that she and her boyfriend Alistair could live a happy life off on their own. After playing through the sequence multiple times however Alistair would always become King - despite clearly that not being her choice. This of course led to Alistair sacrificing him to kill the archdemon in the end. So instead of happy fairytale ending, or at least her own noble sacrifice, she got a dead boyfriend.

Is this really still broken? Is there any way to work around it on the xbox version? I'm well versed in the issues and costs associated with patching an xbox 360 game. Was the game created in such a way that patching the game to fix this issue isn't possible?

I find it very surprising that Bioware - a company I've loved for many years - would abandon their game in such a broken state that would cause a fan to turn the game off and run out in tears.

Hopefully there is a way to work around the issue?

Sorry, but I have read several other discussions, played the game through several times, and as far as I know, if you take Alistair to fight the Archdemon he will kill himself for his love. I have been able to keep him from being King. You have to make sure to speak with Anora at Eamon's Denerim estate after you rescue her and tell her you will make her Queen. And also let Alistair duel with Loghain at the Landsmeet, he kills him regardless, and then you are left with the choice of Queen or King. I make Anora Queen. Then, to make sure it's my sacrifice, I leave him behind at the gates. If I'm wrong, and there is any way to change the outcome, WITHOUT taking Morigan's offer, please let me know. I have given up on trying anymore, I don't think there are any Fairytale Endings to this game. Especially if you romanced Alistair or Morigan.

Don't forget the glitched endings when Alistar is somehow king when he shouldn't be. If you bought the expansion the buggy ending will carry over as well.

No joke, Alistair died in my Origins ending, then at the end of Awakening, he and I were spotted at select locations all over the place...HE DIED! If they are going to hold true to the story they created and leave some of us only the choice of which one of us dies, then hold true in Awakening as well.

I was able to keep Alastair from becoming king... by having Anora execute him. Aside from that, I have heard that it is impossible to keep Alastair from becoming king no matter what choices you make.
