1) There is a newly released Automatic Update for Mass Effect 2. When loading Mass Effect 2, it asks to download and install the update for our primary account, which has a working Xbox LIVE account associated with it.
2) When Mass Effect 2 loads, it disconnects the system from Xbox Live automatically.
3) When in Mass Effect 2, going to the Dashboard and manually logging into Xbox LIVE appears to work. Then immediately after loading the Mass Effect 2 screen again, it disconnects from Xbox LIVE.
4) When attempting to import a Mass Effect 1 character into Mass Effect 2, it gives an error message at various stages, all saying that the update must be installed to go further.
5) Playing already-established characters from saved games in Mass Effect 2 is unaffected.

6) When going directly to Xbox LIVE outside of ME2, it's possible to download various packs and additional content, the issue only happens while in ME2, and trying to download the update, or to log into the Cerberus Network.

We are also having an issue where we cannot sign up for another Xbox LIVE profile on other profiles, but it is unknown right now if the two issues are connected.

Please help!

I am having a similar issue where I am able to be on Xbox Live. However, I keep lagging in and out of the party I am in. It is really frustrating and I am hoping I didn't download a corrupt update or something! Is there any help on the horizon?

I'm passing this onto Microsoft. As it's most likely an issue with Xbox Live, I'll not receive a response, however if I do I'll update this thread.

Received word back from MS, they suggest to nuke your cache and re-download the title Update ( http://support.micro.../971755?sd=xbox )

Unfortunately no dice on that solution. Though there are some other things on that page that I didn't yet try, like formatting the hard drive, so I'll try those as soon as I can scrounge together enough money to get memory sticks that are more than 1gb.

(seriously, did I just not buy any new memory sticks in the past 5 years? I've got like a dozen, all of them just 1gb or less.)
