I actually would have liked to see that. The PC just doesn't make it to Ostagar, Daveth dies, and then Duncan stabs Jory and then he and Alistair are like "Well, that was pointless."Herr Uhl wrote...

I really don't like the thought of dying at your joining. I'd rather you simply didn't make it to Duncan in your origin story because that could concievably happen. This is just like the Mhairi thing where people tried different tactics to make her physically capable of surviving. Amell, Surana, Mahariel, Tabris, Cousland, Brosca, and Aeducan are all physically capable of surviving the Joining and to say otherwise just destroys and sense of 'it could have happened this way.' So what was the deciding factor that killed them? Did Duncan lose too much approval? Did their meeting with Alistair go poorly? Thing King was in a bad mood from all the boring strategy? It makes no freaking sense!
It still doesn't change the fact that none survived the joining. Thus my verdict still stands, worst joining ever.

Just finished it myself...I have to say....the final scene where Alistair looks around and...and.....
Oh my Bioware, that was an unexpected tearjerker scene.
P.S: I loved the Penny Arcade reference. Shame on anyone who ruins it right away.

A) the sudden... end. Bamf, stab, that's it. *pout*
Sure, I can go back to the save and beat them in a different order and read the entries THAT way, but bah, that's annoying. ;-;

Don't try to make sense of it. Really, your brain melts and ... well, it won't be pretty.Sarah1281 wrote...
Why do you get to kill so many civilians that survive in the game? Does Alistair not send the word to evacuate in enough time or are we supposed to believe Wade, Goldanna, Gorim, ect. were there for the final battle and were just fine?

Because you're expecting coherence. It's hard to adjust because we've actually come to expect DA material to have a story. Or at least not to cheapen the world too much. And well...Sarah1281 wrote...

It brings down the whole franchise a notch, or maybe more, to have the world and the characters used as props for such pointless stupidity. Isn't hack and slash at least supposed to give you a "gasp" factor that might actually be emotionally wrenching?

Overall, I loved it. Only things that bother me are :

(spoilerish)
Agree. Fun hack 'n Slash. (though I got to see Morrigan and Leliana entries.) Loved the other alternate DA character entries too. Beheaded Wynne, which was oddly satisfying even though I kind of liked her character. Killing Leliana was the worst part, though I'm sure it will give some the same warm and fuzzy feeling gutting Zev for a 2nd time gave me.

I'm curious if everyone fought werewolves, golems, and templars? In my last playthough those were the choices that I had made and I'm just curious if that is what Bioware chose for us or if the game takes the decisions you made in your most recent game? Just curious.

No, that happens for everybody as apparently Alistiar doesn't go with the decisions he wants even when he's in charge.I'm curious if everyone fought werewolves, golems, and templars? I thought it was entertaining overall. I did feel a little slimy killing the characters that I adore, but getting the chance to kill Ser Cauthrien (sp?) and Howe again made it kinda worth it.

they dobt take decisions you made. from my last isntal of DA i helped elves i destroyed Anvil of Void and yet in Chronicles i was attacked by dwarfs and golems and i was attacked by werewolfs so this means than it dont take story from your heroes

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice to get to play as the bad guys as a way to change things up once in a while. I also like the sword for the regular game.
I enyoed it too. hope they will make Datadisk about what would happen if the main character died at the joining. like i mean you as the darkspawn emerging from the deep roads destroy orzamar and then destroy everything on your path to denerim i mean to destroy the tower of magi and redcliff castles and else. I mean to look at the campaing from the other side and now when they showed us they can make us control the darspawn i think there will be something else like this one dlc

I thought it was fun, gonna be hard to do a Nightmare playthrough because dang was it difficult
Perfect length for $5 felt like an XBLA game for the same price only better

I believe those would be Morrigan's choices but even with Alistair's reluctance to lead, it's hard to imagine him telling her to take the lead.

I kind of love the idea of Alistair being relentlessly bullied into the Evil/Pragmatic/Grief Girl choices by Morrigan for the months it takes to get to the final battle.
M: "Alistair, kill the mages!"
A: "What?! No! Some of them are innocent! I won't do it!"
M: "I'm a mage. Picture me."
A: "Right. Killing them all now."
M: "Haa haa! I made you kill the mages, I made you kill the mages..."
A: "I hate my life."

But I didn't buy it for a rather simple and basic dungeon crawl. I wanted insight into the characters and people that made up the original campaign. Just the idea of "What if you died during the Joining" had such great potential, but it's wasted in too-short and uninformative codex entries. I came away from this game feeling that I had learned nothing about the characters, the darkspawn, or the gamelore.
It was sort of fun, but not nearly enough to justify its existence as a paid product. Hey, Bioware? We don't play DA for the hack'n'slash. We play for plot, character development, world-building, etc. You really short-changed us on the important things in this and tried to hide it behind a veil of novelty and monotonous action.

Pros (+)
- It was indeed a unique experience to play as a darkspawn vanguard.
- Great tactical battles. Nice flow & structure.
- it was intresting to face Alistair's choices of allies from the OC. For example, werewolves or dalish elves, mages or templars?... It was always a surprise to see who were the bosses of each area.
- I didn't notice any bug/s.
Cons (-)
- Few new cutscenes. Nothing impressive from them.
- No dialogue, not even a word! Ok, I expected this to be honest.
- The blightblood sword is a joke... The stats are sweet but the looks are... No new model for a new weapon, again! Lazy work here. I can easily create this sword in the toolset without effort.
- Replayability = None.
PS Let's hope for a dlc with more depth and some story to come. Darkspawn Chronicles was a pleasant hack 'n slash mini-game but I don't think I'm going to support again a similar dlc.

I want the Hurlock Vanguard's armor. The darkspawn have the coolest looking armor in the game and we can't use any of it.
