Constant 100% CPU Usage

I bought the game a few days ago, but I have a problem:
CPU usage is always 90-100% in main menu too .
I have the latest drivers and the 1.03 patch, my specs: Intel C2D 2,56 GHz, ATI Mobility 4650
GPU usage is only 40%!!!
I set everything to low, but no change.
Is there any chance to fix this?

There's nothing broken. It's normal for your CPU to be at 100% when running dragon age. And having 8 gigs of the fastest RAM in the world will not make your CPU run at less than 100% when playing Dragon age.
And just to quell your worries... I've put hundreds upon hundreds of hours of DA:O playtime in on my current computer... sometimes 8-10 hours at a time without exiting the game. Yet 6 months later, my computer still runs perfectly fine. Nothing has overheated, fried, broke or anything.

Are you joking?
At the main menu it's normal to run at 100%?
Ingame lags are "normal" with the lowest settings?
NO!
There is a problem with the game, I read about this problem in some topics, but there isn't solution yet.

CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO @ 1.4 GHz/AMD Athlon64 X2 @ 1.8 GHz
If I have 2,5 GHz and lags like a presentation, how's working with these machines?

YES. It's normal. And apparently you didn't read enough.Szaby59 wrote...

It can be possible for the CPU usage to reach 100% on single and dual core PCs, depending on the video card you have. This is normal and shouldn't cause any problems.
And Like I said, the Dev is right. I've run hundreds upon hundreds of hours of DA:O on my below average-specced computer, including some nights where I'd play for 10 hours straight. All at 100% CPU usage. No overheating, no fried motherboard, Nothing.

Now I set daorigins.exe in task manager to use only one core, AND THE SAME 25-30 FPS, like with 2 CORES!
Core 0 usage 10-15%
Core 1 usage - 100%
That's not normal...

Also check the CPU tab in the resource monitor to see if there is no other program sucking on your cpu or conflicting somehow. I had a similar problem with my AV protection.

Yes before I posted the topic, I tried everything: physx, driver, win reinstall.
"Did you try to kill every non essential tasks before launching, just to be sure ? "
Yes, I disabled Kaspersky IS, as I said, there is no performance difference between 1 or 2 cores, I think the game "just loads" the CPU.
Is there any method to disable some PhysX effect, or any advanced tweaks?
800x600, everything low:

Your hard drive disk is lowering it to 5.9. and you clearly don't have an hdd problem.
Mine is

I also have an ati radeon 4xxx and a c2d, and never had such a problem with DA:O
Did you try to completely disable the sound ?

The biggest difference between Vista and Win 7, as far as playing the game goes, is with DirectX. If you don't select the option to install DirectX 9 when the game is installed, Win 7 users should add DirectX 9 runtimes. (If this applies to you, see this: http://social.biowar...2604940#2605044)
Running processes in the background can affect gameplay. Aero is the worst of all because it can use 1GB RAM on its own. Disable Aero when the game launches by setting the compatibility properties in the shortcut to DA.
How to do this is shown here: http://social.biowar...2604940#2635902
You can also use Process Explorer to find out what else is running in the background. Kill anything you don't absolutely need.
100% CPU usage isn't uncommon in games though it can cause overheating problems which is something to be very careful about when you are playing on a laptop. About the only thing you can do to bring CPU usage down is to underclock it slightly. DA will use all the CPU you have available so making a bit less available can help.
