Lead the darkspawn horde and herald the coming of the archdemon!

I'd love to!  Has the XB360 version of the game finally been patched up to the same level/features/behavior as the PC version?  If so, I'll jump right on this.  But I'm not buying any Bioware products at all, of any sort, on any platform, until that happens.

Downloading as I'm typing this up. Big Download or eveyone is grabbing it, since the download is progressing slowly, but almost done with out a hiccup. This will definately be different and look forward to giving it a spin! Hope all goes well so no negative fireballs start getting tossed!

Happy Hunting ALL!

WOW!!! This is a pleasent surprise. I really wasn't expecting the PS3 version to be out the same day. Thanks BioWare. Kudos. Will be buying this as soon as I can get to the store and buy a PSN card.

He has a legit gripe, if you dont like it stop reading it and certainly dont respond to it. Was your post any better than his?

Is the game not up for download yet on the PC or something? I'm wondering why mine is stuck at 0%.

It was short, but I enjoyed it. I loved to bash some of my formal comrades. And some I wasn't happy at all to meet=/.

Good work with this DLC.

Definitely a fun play-through, though it was tough to kill some of the named characters. And a nice little in-joke during the last battle.

The "official Darkspawn Chronicles web page" doesn't contain the one piece of information I've been asking about since this expansion was announced.

Does this require any particular version of DAO?

Does this patch DAO to version 1.03 (or some other version) upon install?

If this patches my game without telling me I'm going to be very angry.  So tell me.

I bought the DLC from the website, but I'm afraid I'll have to wait until I can find a direct download link before I can play it. My game does not download DLC and I haven't been able to fix it with the advice in the troubleshooting forum.

Stuck at 0% for the last fifteen minutes or so trying to download this for PC. Is there a problem of some sort?

I don't think there is an actual problem with downloading it, maybe straining the server.  I downloaded it about 10 min ago for my pc and no issues here.

Played the first part, it's what was expected, a hack and slash, I found it slightly boring in all honesty but that's probably 'cause I'm not in the mood to play anyway, I'll give it a go tomorrow.

One point about it, when you want to enlist a new darkspawn rather than just doing the sensible thing and giving the old one a kick up the ass while telling him to go find some humans to kill you have to kill him, I mean seriously come on, I know you wanted to make it all evil and show how it's tough to be a darkspawn etc etc but this is rather silly, if this is what they where doing when I was facing them it's no wonder they bloody lost.

Even the darkspawn aren't that idiotic.

Yes. It does require patch 1.03

That information really needs to be on the product page.

Does Darkspawn chronicles automatically patch the game to 1.03?  Or does it just fail for users who can't or won't patch to 1.03?

Technical support is supposed to be TECHNICAL!

Has anyone seen a blight wolf in this DLC? It's supposed to be a recruitable thrall but as far as I can tell there aren't any to be found anywhere which makes the achievement for maxing the loyalty of all thralls impossible.

I'm having quite fun with the dlc. Love the idea of playing as a Darkspawn in a "What if"-scenario, although it would be more awesome if it was done in a expansion like Awakening.

Anyway, having some trouble with the dlc. It seems to crash quite often when I'm playing and I don't have this problem when I'm playing vanilla DA. Just wanted you to know.

It warns you of that fact on the purchase page, Sylvius. And yes, it does auto-patch you to 1.03.

Anyway, here's my little review for the PC version of this DLC:

Darkspawn Chronicles was a fair bit better than I expected. If you like
Dragon Age combat, I'd say it's worth a buy. If you don't like Dragon
Age combat, avoid it at (almost) all costs.

It clocked in at 2 hours almost on the nose for me. It might have taken
less time if I had been playing on lower than nightmare and if Sten
hadn't slaughtered me once.

It's fairly difficult on nightmare largely because you have pre-built
level 12 characters. Inability to customize your abilities means you
have to build your strategies around what they give you - which was nice
as a change of pace.
You do, however, get your DLC items - which can give you a little boost if you have ones that fit well with the Darkspawn characters.

If I hadn't read all the codex entries that might have shaved off some
time too - but those are definitely worth reading. They're the only
thing that might make it worth it to those that dislike Dragon Age
combat. They create a nice little picture of Alistair's journey through
Origins without you - some of his decisions are... surprising. He also made a few choices that aren't even available to The Warden.

In terms of value, $5 for 2 hours of play is about dead on what Mass Effect 2
DLC should cost if we're to compare it with the main game. It's still
twice the cost Dragon Age DLC should be, but... oh well. It's still more value friendly than Return to Ostagar at least =]

The Blightblood sword bonus you get for Origins and Awakening is fairly
neat. In Origins it's a Tier 7 one-hander with a permanent venom poison
bonus on it. In Awakenings I presume it's bumped up to Tier 9.

A solid 7.5 out of 10 overall I'd say. It was fun and I hope Bioware keeps trying "weird" DLC. Though I hope the next one does have voice overs and choice-based play.
And, once again, I'll make my suggestion for the next DLC to be playing an excerpt from "The Stolen Throne" playing as Maric and Loghain! I'd snap it up in a second :o
