Lead the darkspawn horde and herald the coming of the archdemon!

I'd love to!  Has the XB360 version of the game finally been patched up to the same level/features/behavior as the PC version?  If so, I'll jump right on this.  But I'm not buying any Bioware products at all, of any sort, on any platform, until that happens.

When the xbox 360 has the same functions as a pc your complaint is relevent, till then go cry me a river

I am also posting this in the PC Tech forum but Darkspawn Chronicles character save make it so that when you try to import a character from another module, the game crashes.

Are you sure Kigen? The game DOES hang on me now when I import to Awakenings --- but it finally does bring up my list of characters after about 15-20 seconds.

Why is it named Chronicles?

One could argue that it's not just your Hurlock's story, but rather the chronicles of every Darkspawn in the battle.

Another possiblity is that they were/are hoping that there would be enough demand to create another module like this. At which point this module would be renamed "Darkspawn Chronicles: The Battle of Denerim" and "Darkspawn Chronicles: The Razing of Loathering" (for instance) would be announced.

Well, from what I've read so far this is yet another hack 'n slash / lootrun dlc. I'm definitely not getting it. I hope there will be some 'real' RPG content added sometime soon, until then I'm keeping my money in my pocket. For hack 'n slash I'll go play an mmorpg like Lineage 2 or something. I wish dragon age was text based and not voiceover based so adding more story/banter/romances wouldn't be such a problem, if that is why none of that is being added. I miss the good old days of true rpg's on the PC.

i love how all these threads get hijacked by the "I'm not buying" brigade.  Like they're somehow making a difference in the larger scheme of things.  Yeah, we know there will be some people not buying it, but do we need it in every single thread?  Not everything is always gonna be to the taste of all n sundry, we get it.  By Christ we get it.

Well, Dr. Bawbag, this is your first post in this thread and do you have something positive to say about the game? No, you are complaining about the other posters' opinions. Posters are just letting their feelings be known. Last time I checked that is what forums are for and one would think that you have some personal stake in the sales of the dlc. I for one am not buying this latest installment for 3 reasons:
1) previous offerings for the 360 still need patching 2) the reviews of Chronicles are not good 3) the departure from Origins - each release has progressively less dialogue, less consequences of our choices, lack of romance - things that we loved about Origins have all been taken away.
I cannot speak for everyone, but I can say that Darkspawn Chronicles drew the line, as far as I am concerned. Not buying it is the only way I have of letting my wishes be known and at least I will know that I tried to make a difference.

It's not about being positive, though, is it, it's about the same drivel in each and every thread you go into. It gets churned out in every single thread. Just look for yourself and you'll see what i mean.

The ironic thing is, a lot of people that made their feelings quite clear from the onset, have actually purchased it regardless. It's like they just want to moan for the sake of moaning. The best way to get your point across is not to buy it, that way it sends a message to those that matter - BioWare.

It's not as if people are being duped into purchasing any particular DLC, it's made abundantly clear beforehand how each and every DLC plays out. But that's not really the point though, huh? Nothing should get in the way of a good old fashioned moan.

Patching the game and having the option to buy a weak peice of DLC are two totally different things, so i don't see where you're coming from with that one. After all, my initial post never mentioned nowt about patches et al.

I just read an interesting review on Eurogamer for Dragon Age: Origins - The Darkspawn Chronicles 4/10. On page 2 David Whitehead writes, "Seeing a masterful story factory like BioWare put its name to something so thin is downright depressing." end quote.
That just about says it all. Image IPB

This. This so hard. As made already apparent, Bioare doesn't care much for it's community, which is odd because we all are basically the green in their wallets. However, the community, from what I can tell, assumed that it would be this bad. As far as I know, I never saw a reply to our concerns about the DLC. Well, Bioware, have fun seeing the same thing coming from the press now.

They're experimenting on the community, some of those experiments are bound to backfire but the overall thing is that we have a lot of dlc and the game is not "left alone" to die out.

yeah, for sure... marketing is such a great tool to control the pawns :D

one year ago they also stated that dragon age will get the greatest modding community of all times and that they are planning to release additional content like new models, art resources and so on just for them. now look what we get: a great toolset with lots of mod stopping bugs, no developer lifesign at all and therefore no words if there ever will be an update.

they're working fulltime at da2 and me3 and small groups drop out quick dlcs. after awakening for dragon age now me2 gets a bigger dlc - that's why there is so little effort you've experienced with darkspawn chronicles. but i bet this dlc was still an economic success.

I have no problem with experimentation, but within the spirit of the game. Darkspawn Chronicles doesn't seem to add to the story of Dragon Age at all. From the reviews I've read, there's no real characterization and no real motivation. There's nothing beyond slaughter for a darkspawn, and while running around and killing things can be fun, it doesn't seem to fit with the stated goals for the franchise (being the spiritual successor to one of the best story driven CRPGs out there).

I guess BG 1 and 2 had their hack and slash moments (the dungeon crawls that came in the expansions come to mind), but hack and slash never really seemed to be the focus even then.

Which is why you'll be happy to know that as of a few months ago, I've all-out refused to buy any products, DLC or retail, from both EA and BioWare.  I think that anyone here who's upset at the extremely poor post-release support, total ignorance of long-standing issues with the game, and lack of community involvement when it comes to technical issues, should take the same stance.

I do not think we can just say bioware sucks at DLC...mass effect 2 dlc is 1000% percent better than dragon age dlc and they have announced that future me2 dlc will be story driven and bridge the gap bewteen 2 and 3...that suggests to me that ther are two different people/groups overseeing mass effect and dragon age dlc...whoever is overseeing the dragon age side should be fired as each piece becomes more disconnected from what made dragon age origins great...

'And, once again, I'll make my suggestion for the next DLC to be playing an excerpt from "The Stolen Throne" playing as Maric and Loghain! I'd snap it up in a second '

THIS IS A GOOD IDEA.

It's £3.99 on the Playstation store. I assume it's the same on other platforms too.

100% disagree. The ME2 DLC so far has been a few skins, new characters (should have been on the disc) with super fast quests and NO TRUE DIALOG options.

Cerberus network was the project $10, not TRUE DLC, just content that was AXED from the game and then released at launch w/ a code.  Are you really excited about that?

Skins for Jack and Garrus?  1000% better than WK quest, Items, enemies, chest, story?  I ROFL at that suggestion.

Saying ME2 (which is barely a RPG anyway) has 1000% better DLC than DAO is simply ignoring all fact and logic.

I think it's a bit unfair to compare WK to ME2 DLC since it was release day DLC.

Comparing Return to Ostagar or Darkspawn Chronicles to Kasumi (or Overlord next month) is more fair.

I do think it's fair to say that Kasumi is better than RtO - even if I enjoyed RtO (when bringing along The Secret Companion anyway).

Big deal. Console and Mac fans have been wanting bugfix patches and they haven't gotten any yet. Don't pretend that EA/Bioware actually cares. "Working on it" and "looking into it" doesn't mean a damn thing.
