I have not played the Darkspawn Chronicles. I won't. I won't buy anything else until they fix patch 1.03. BioWare has plenty of time and manpower to pump "What If" DLCs but they won't support their existing product. Not getting anymore of my money until I see a change in priorities.
I still love Origins. I enjoyed Awakenings, but of course had to uninstall it when I realized it killed Origins functionality. I'd happily buy more Dragon Age content if they would get on the ball with patches.

Posts like this don't contribute much, but I think it needs to be said in the hopes someone from BioWare will read it.

Hmmm... I suppose I should consider myself lucky then that I have had no issues with Patch 1.03. Still, you have your right to complain and no one is forcing you to buy any DLC so... go ahead and ignore it.

As I am glad your copy is working.
BioWare is aware of the bugs as it has been discussed for MONTHS on the technical forums. Limiting complaints to the technical forums though . . . they tend to get lost in a sea of tech talk. Once in awhile if a person (myself) tosses a complaint in an unexpected forum it gets heard / read.
But yes - I'm aware not everyone his having problems. But those folks aren't aware that a good number of us are.
Come to think of it . . . I doubt I could even run Darkspawn Chronicles without 1.03 . . . so it'd be a waste of my money to buy it even if I weren't disgruntled.
Again - I'm glad your copy is working.

The Darkspawn Chronicles: Or How Alistair made the worst decisions ever and killed us all.
Basically. It's a total hoot.

I don't know. This universe's Alistair is not the one I'm familiar with, so I didn't feel too bad, surprisingly. It felt something like a mercy kill for a broken man. :/ He chose to save the Anvil, side with the Templars, killed the elves... poor Templar.
It seems more like he got hardened when everyone died, since all of his decisions are 'pragmatic' except killing the Elves, but since The Werewolves were owning the Elves, it seems reasonable to suggest that they were superior fighters, [even though in usefulness the Elves are waaay better.]

After a quick search it does seem that many folks are having problems with 1.03. Then again, it seems that anytime a patch is released (for any game) it breaks the game for someone. At any rate, I do hope that Bioware fixes whatever problems 1.03 brought and hopefully your post here will be heard.
Let's just hope that patch 1.04 doesn't break MY game!!

Jealousy attack. Over Leliana. Alistair is fine but Leliana is totally freakin awesome. They do have a lot in common though, so it's a natural match if the PC isn't around, especially with the people they are surrounded by.

He had Templars on his side, but probably didn't support Annulling the Circle since Wynne and at least one Circle Mage made an appearance. It's likely that he saved Irving, then supported Cullen when he made the point about blood mages, sending most Circle Mages into quarantine (I think that's how it can play out in the normal game).
He sided with the werewolves, for reasons unknown but likely having to do with how much the Dalish suck. I can't fault him here. Lord knows I wanted to slaughter the little nughumpers myself.
He got the Legion of the Dead's support, which is not a bad decision no matter how you look at it.
He let Zevran live but didn't recruit him, which fits with his reaction in the normal game.
He kept Morrigan, recruited (and possibly romanced) Leliana, saved the dog, and possibly recruited Sten (who was definitely wielding Asala, and seemed to be wearing Wade's Dragonbone Plate but dropped the Juggernaut Plate).
He didn't kill Arl Howe, but did invade his palace to save Riordan. No mention of Anora.
To be honest, these are all perfectly valid decisions that could be made in-game by any PC and still lead to victory (aside from killing Howe, which is required by the plot).

I thought it was a fun DLC, not a DLC to be taken seriously however. It was a nice break from making moral choices etc. For what it is worth it was entertaining, will I play it over and over, doubtful, but I figure it was worth the $5.00.
Agreed. It's a mindless affair, but given the subject and price, it was really well done. I wasn't expecting any insight into the story or characters, that wasn't the point here. Watching the choices Alistair would've made was kind of interesting though, except for romancing Leliana... that earned him the beating he got!
I doubt I'll ever play it again to be honest; having to kill Dog (Barkspawn!) and Leliana was quite painful and the final scene was hard to watch (though it was really well done from a tragic point of view).
But it was a very entertaining romp with some really challenging battles. After plowing my way through Awakening (even on Nightmare), it was nice to be challenged once again.

Yeah... I feel bad for him, but he deserved it. Alistair took all of the evil plot turns.

The people who work on the patches are not the same people who work on additional content. If people protest en masse by not purchasing DLC, all you are doing is sending the message that DLC isn't financially worthwhile for them to produce. Thats why I buy all DLC. Even if it's not something particularly exciting to me, I am showing support for the continued release of DLC for Dragon Age.
