Two months and 3 DLC later

Am I the only one who is seriously dissappointed in Bioware's priorities. Maybe instead of working on more ways to bilk us of more money they should reassign the DLC to work on the patch then I might feel a little more inclined to buy the DLC when it did come out.
/end rant
Am i the only one who feels like this?

patch 1.03 is garbage, i agree. i don't see awakening in your profile, so why not just run dao with patch 1.02a? that was a very stable intall. then get qwinn's fixpack, unless you're on a console.
its not only garbage , its an insult .And maybe he's in the same situation as iam ...maybe he bought the game right after release and didnt install it bc of 1.03 . I myself didnt want to install it and mess my love for DAO up bc of crapy patch, + as far i read the notes on qwins "patch" it doesnt resolve the technical issues , like crashing ect ...correct if im wrong. .
And well its almost 2 month since that desaster patch and nothing happens-- "were working on it " is starting to sound like "shut your trap already".

Well I would actually say it's soon "6 month later". Patch 1.03 was mainly there to make sure BioWare could sell Awakening. OK, it did adress the long loading times and gave some armor penetrating adjustments, but the main purpose was not to patch DAO, it was to be able to sell Awakening. Or as they said:
"Various changes have been made to code and resources to support the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening expansion pack. Most of these changes do not affect Origins itself."
So it's soon 6 months since patch 1.02 that came out in early december. The "we are looking in to it....." sounds even hollower then.
I have not bought the last 2 DLC's and will not, not until the game is patched.
I will probably buy DA:2, but I will wait a month after release and buy it used. Just to make sure I don't support a company that doesn't support it's products.
In the end, not giving them your money is the only way to make them listen.

1.03......hmmm.....that would imply 3 patches, no? 1.03 was a bad patch, but how many times do they have to say they're working on one before these threads stop being spammed onto the boards?
No, because 1.1 and 1.2 were released long before Awakening.
In short, 1.03 broke a lot of things and Awakening is full of huge, game-breaking bugs. It's absurd that we haven't seen a patch yet.

That made me lol. We need a little humor to raise our spirits ~ thanks. I am sad that I cannot play my game without running into so many obsticles. I did just manage to finish Awakening with a lot of looking at the forums (& spoilers) one time. I just can't bring myself to buy the latest dlc, Chronicles, as I am afraid it will mess things up even more. I am disappointed that we keep hearing "we're working on it". The PS3 got a patch yesterday, and I am happy for them but we 360 users have yet to hear anything. Please, is there anyone out there that can give us a glimmer of hope? Please...?

I'm a sucker, so I bought it. Trust me, you are missing NOTHING. Totally not worth it and I'm kicking myself as we speak.
Beyond the fact that I had to neurotically save after exiting combat every time to not get set back to far from crashing, there were quite a few other annoyances/retardedness that I can't rant about since this is a no spoiler forum.

Why does it seem like most people on the DAO boards hate the game and complain about it? I don't go to Fox News boards and complain about that fat coke head Glen Beck, I just don't watch his show. Problem solved.
Because they don't hate the game at all. Quite the opposite. Most of them LOVED Origins, but with the exception of the Stone prisoner, and some aspects or Soldier's Peak and RtO, the followup releases have given short shrift to the things they loved, mainly clever dialogue, interactions between the PC and the companions, and between the companions themselves. It created an immersive game that has rarely been equaled. Each DLC/expansion since has reduced those things to the point that the last DLC had no dialogue at all. People find this exceedingly depressing.
The patch is a separate issue, and since all the problems with the game have been related to memory issues, it's possible that there's no easy fix. I never had many problems with Origins, and as long as I don't play Awakening, it's still managable. Luckily, I don't find that a problem, although I empathize with people's frustration. For me, the biggest problem isn't the patch, though. It's a lack of commitment to the vision of the original game, which they seem to be distancing themselves from as fast as possible.

I don't know what their release schedule is. Could it be that they just release DLC's as they become ready? My point is: there may be no rythme nor reason for the order in which they release their products. So, to say that each product being released in a certain order indicates a change in the game's vision is somewhat premature.
Supposedly, there's an Awakening DLC with Leliana in it due next or soon after the next DLC.

Haexpane maybe we just feel like making our opinions heard? The point is that instead of fixing the game, and it desperately needs fixing, they string out more bogus DLCs. They're shamelessly just groping for more money. I wouldn't mind if they were taking a long time on the patch to make sure they got everything, but they're clearly not putting forth the effort they should. Thee problems could have been fixed a month ago.
The patch team is working on the patch. The DLC teams continue to develop and release DLC's. You seem to think they only have 1 team of 3 programmers working out of a garage. Bioware devs are working on the patch and new DLC's at THE SAME TIME.
And how do you know how long it would take to fix these bugs? Are you a programmer? Have you ever tried to debug someone else's code. The majority of bugs are on the consoles. A third party did the code conversion to the consoles - not Bioware. It's hard enough fixing your own bugs, but it takes even much longer to fix someone else's bugs. And then they have to get these bug fixes past $ony, Micro$oft and None-tendo.

the dlc team is separate from the patch people. the onyl delay it would really have is by a day or two since the patch has been worked on for a while now and the patch team would have the dlc before it is released.Darth Wraith wrote...
The thing is, every time a new DLC is released they have to make the patch they're working on compatible with that DLC also. This means that every single piece of DLC pushes back the patch, and with the current rate of DLC release this means the patch gets delayed over and over again.

one of the devs went on the xbox 360 tech forum and said they are working on a patch. i linked it a while back in another thread. my understanding, which could be wrong, is that all 3 platforms are getting a patch, including ps3. my understanding is ps3 got their patch due to the firmware problem and is still getting the normal patch with pc and xbox. i would guess that working on that as a priority delayed the regular patch.Lyna357 wrote...

Ehem, and it does seem that you are not a programmer either, not to mention the lack of knowledge in an software development organisation... first, its been mentioned in other posts, there is a team developing DLC and another team fixing patches... yes they work at THE SAME TIME with DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT DIFFERENT TASKS... capitols are just to remark, of course...
Second. On regards the third party code conversion, usually if you contract a company (BW contracting Edge of Reality) to wrap your product (DAO & DAA), that company is working with your product (BW product i.e. DAO&DAA) if the wrapping do not work, you (BW) must ask and pressure your contractor (Edge of Reality) to do it as it's been stated in a contract... you (BW) do not have to fix your contractor bugs (Edge of Reality)...
ah, just remember EA is not different of BW, EA is BW, if anyone here has the details on that merging, the contractor agreement and the project reports of the different projects going on from EA/BW and third parties, please post them here.... but you cannot because of the NDA, which is a standard in the software industry. Of course I just talk based on the experience... and it is sensible to talk with solid knowledge, but neither you nor me are employees of EA/BW
So far I only have knowledge of DAO & DAA on PC/PS3 and Xbox... if you mean "None-tendo" as no entiendo=I do not understand, that pretty much explains your whole post.

I'm a programmer. The issue is not how many teams are working on what--I agree that not everyone working on DLC could be shifted to working on patches, since that's a "mythical man month" problem (not every programmer/developer has the right skill set to work on patches, and adding more people not familiar with the current code means that someone who *is* familiar will have to take time away from coding to explain what parts of the code do...because code is *never* documented well enough.)
The majority of the bugs are *not* on the consoles. There are *plenty* of bugs that are cross platform.
More importantly, some (most?) of the cross-platform bugs are likely not even in "programmer" code but rather in "game" scripts etc. that logically have more in common with the things a DLC team would be working than they do with memory management/CTD issues. Example 1: Approval bugs in Awakening. Example 2: Stealing doesn't work properly in 1.03. Example 3: Trap detection is broken for the PC (but only the PC) in Origins.
Most importantly, there are a *long* list of non-gamebreaking but annoying bugs that are fixed through mods on PC...and even though I play on PC, why should I have to install all the mods in the world when the fixes are ALREADY KNOWN.
I consistently bought DLC before 1.03, and even bought ME and ME2 (which I've not played), but will pay for no more BW products until they make a good-faith effort at fixing the bugs that already exist.
And Darkspawn Chronicles is nothing more than a "minimal effort for maximum reward" moneygrab. The Mabari Chronicles will be next, since those could also be done with no voice actors and no new maps.
Not happy.
