Have you tried setting processor affinity to a single core (avoid number 01 as this will cause a crash)?

edit: Nevermind that last bit. Setting it to only one core seemed to lower the performance though. =(

You can download the AMD CPUInfo utility to see if you're affected (check the current processor speeds, and go to the bottom of the list and see if the TLB workaround is enabled). It's almost always core 1 in a dual core or core 1 in a quad core (CPU count starts at 0, so in a quad core you have cores 0, 1, 2, and 3, dual core is 0 and 1).
So if you want to try it, set the affinity to the core currently running at the highest speed. The problem is, processing power is really a cumulative thing, and it's handled pretty much the same way from Windows XP SP2 clear on through Windows 7. So adjusting your affinity will, more than likely (as was my case), just deprive the client of CPU cycles instead of providing more.

Yea, not sure what's the ultimate cause. Though your CPU doesn't suffer from the TLB bug, I don't think (if that's even the cause).
I just re-applied the latest BIOS for my motherboard and unfortunately don't have a way to disable the workaround. So I went ahead and ran hardware diagnostics one more time, and just installed Vista SP2. After a round of updates I'm going to give Dragon Age one more shot. If it's still bad every 30+ minutes, I guess I'll just have to live with it until a patch is published

It's probably more along the lines of a memory leak, since even closing and starting up the game again immediately fixes it for a good long while.

If it were heat related it would be endemic to system operation overall - and your system would more than likely simply halt or reboot.

... coincidently, I had (2) 8800 GTs in SLI mode a week ago. After trying the TLB work around -- it ran great, until the next day. Then there were green dots on my screen that wouldn't go away ... had to pull the first 8800 and turn off SLI ... to get the dots to go away. Guess it over-worked the video card or something.

I'm getting the same issue, game runs fine with fairly high settings but loads times get exponential ly longer as I play.
My specs:
2 Xeon 3.2 Nocona single core processors with Hyper-Threading enabled.
2gb of Ram
ATI Radeon 4830 512mb ram
Right due to having two processors I get Intel's HT on so I get 4 'virtual cores'. I'm going to try playing around with the processor affinity, set it to just one processor (2 cores), then just one 'core' and then try it with HT turned off and see what happens.

Hey guys,
I am just curious for the people that are suffering from this problem, what operating system are you using, in addition to your processor.
I agree at first glance it seems like something like a memory leak could be the cause of this, or perhaps something to do with multicore processors. Regardless, the possibility of a technical issue with the game is apparent, so I will definitely be filing this one.
JironGhrad's post refers to a potential solution, but if I can get the team lists of hardware specs that have this issue, it will help out the programming team a lot.
Thanks!
Allan

Slowdown seems random for me, sometimes after 30mins others after 1-2 hrs, goes from 1-3 sec load to 1-3 mins at most for ME.Restarting does fix it though.

The long load times usually don't hit until after getting to Ostragar. A save and quit, followed by a reload of the save usually solves this, but later on in the game they just get noticeably longer.
I did try something that was mentioned in this thread about .Net Framework 4.0 beta:
http://social.biowar...O-528409-1.html
After uninstalling Net Framework and Installing the 4.0 beta I did notice much better overall framerates, but I have not had much time since then to completely test if this was really causing the issue or not.
